Magic Kingdom Rides Guide: What to Ride First in 2026
Magic Kingdom has more rides than you can comfortably do in one day, so the win is order, not luck. This guide ranks what to ride first, what needs a paid Lightning Lane, and which rides your kids are tall enough for.

Ride these first
At rope drop head to Tiana's Bayou Adventure, then cross to Fantasyland for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, then Peter Pan's Flight. All three build long lines within minutes of park open and stay slow all day.
Pay to skip two
TRON Lightcycle Run and Tiana's Bayou Adventure are sold as Lightning Lane Single Pass, bought one ride at a time. Everything else that takes a Lightning Lane sits in the cheaper Multi Pass bundle.
Check the height first
Seven rides have a height minimum, from 32 inches at the Speedway up to 48 inches for TRON. The other sixteen or so attractions have no height limit at all, so a shorter child can still fill a day.

The two rides worth paying for
Most rides at Magic Kingdom share one Lightning Lane Multi Pass, a single daily purchase that covers around eighteen attractions. Two headliners sit outside it. TRON Lightcycle Run and Tiana's Bayou Adventure are sold as Lightning Lane Single Pass, bought one ride at a time, and they are the two most likely to be worth the extra cost on a busy day. TRON also runs a virtual queue you can join for free at 7am from your phone, with a second chance at 1pm once you are inside the park. If the virtual queue fills before you tap, the Single Pass is the dependable way on.
What to ride first at Magic Kingdom
The biggest lever on your day is the order you ride, not arriving a few minutes earlier. Three rides build a long line within minutes of park open and never really recover: Tiana's Bayou Adventure in Frontierland, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train in Fantasyland, and Peter Pan's Flight, also in Fantasyland. Do those first, in that order, and you clear the hardest three before most guests reach them. Save the high capacity classics like Pirates of the Caribbean, the Haunted Mansion, and it's a small world for the middle of the day, when their lines stay reasonable.
How Lightning Lane works here in 2026
Disney replaced Genie Plus with two products. Lightning Lane Multi Pass is one daily purchase that bundles around eighteen Magic Kingdom attractions, including Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, the Haunted Mansion, the Jungle Cruise, and Peter Pan's Flight. You book one top tier ride plus two others in advance, then add more through the day as you use them. Lightning Lane Single Pass is separate and bought one ride at a time for the two headliners outside the bundle, TRON Lightcycle Run and Tiana's Bayou Adventure. On a quiet day you may not need to pay at all. On a busy day, a Single Pass for TRON plus a Multi Pass is the usual sweet spot.
Height requirements, ride by ride
Seven Magic Kingdom rides have a height minimum. Tomorrowland Speedway is the lowest at 32 inches to ride with an adult, then 54 inches to drive alone. The Barnstormer needs 35 inches, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train 38 inches, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Tiana's Bayou Adventure both 40 inches, Space Mountain 44 inches, and TRON Lightcycle Run the tallest at 48 inches. Everything else, including Pirates, the Haunted Mansion, the Jungle Cruise, Peter Pan's Flight, and it's a small world, has no height limit, so a shorter child can fill most of a day with no problem. Disney also offers Rider Switch, so two adults can take turns on the taller rides without both waiting in line twice.
The rides you can ride any time
Not every great ride needs a strategy. Pirates of the Caribbean, the Haunted Mansion, the Jungle Cruise, the Carousel of Progress, and the PeopleMover all move large numbers of guests and rarely post a long wait. Lean on them when the headliners are mobbed, during a parade, or in the last hour before close when touring slows down. Treating them as filler between the priority rides is how you finish the park without spending a paid Lightning Lane on something you could nearly walk onto.
Deep Arrival ride plan
If you do one thing, rope drop Tiana's Bayou Adventure, then Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, then Peter Pan's Flight, and either buy a TRON Single Pass or join its 7am virtual queue. Add a Lightning Lane Multi Pass on a busy day and aim it at Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. With a young child, skip the paid passes, ride the classics with no height limit all morning, and use Rider Switch for the two or three coasters that tall enough riders want to repeat.
Planning traps
Mistakes to avoid
These are the small decisions that quietly derail an otherwise good plan.
It loads slowly and the line is long within ten minutes of park open, so it has to be an early ride or a Lightning Lane.
They move thousands of guests an hour and rarely justify the cost.
It became Tiana's Bayou Adventure in 2024, same big drop and flume, new story, and it now needs a Single Pass.
Disney measures at the ride, so check the real height against the 38, 40, 44, and 48 inch limits before you build the day around a coaster.
