Walt Disney World Crowd Calendar
How to read this calendar
Three things to know before you scan. Designed to answer the most useful planning questions in under 30 seconds.
Crowd calendars by park
Each park has its own demand pattern. Tap into any park for the full per date crowd forecast, festival overlays, and park specific strategy.
Magic Kingdom
The busiest park at Walt Disney World by attendance. Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party nights compress daytime hours and concentrate demand.
EPCOT
Festival driven demand cycles run through EPCOT all year. Food and Wine Festival weekends post some of the highest crowd scores at any Walt Disney World park. Saturdays during festival season are a paradox.
Hollywood Studios
The most attraction dense park at Walt Disney World. A 6 score here feels closer to a 7 at EPCOT or Magic Kingdom because crowds concentrate in narrow zones around Galaxy’s Edge and Toy Story Land.
Animal Kingdom
Closes earliest of the four theme parks at 6 to 8 PM, which compresses demand into a tighter operating window. Avatar Flight of Passage drives the strongest single attraction pull at any Walt Disney World park.
Typhoon Lagoon
Open May 12 through September 8, 2026 in the simultaneous water park window. The free resort guest admission perk (May 26 to Sep 8 check in dates) drives meaningful weekend pressure on hot summer days.
Blizzard Beach
Operates as the only Disney water park from September 8 through mid May. Demand concentrates here during the cooler months. Summit Plummet drives weekend repeat visits from annual passholders.
Park day gear worth packing
A compact set of comfort picks for long lines, heat, rain, refills, and high step counts.
Cross park crowd strategy
Crowd levels across the four theme parks are correlated but not synchronized. Knowing the cross park pattern is the single most useful planning insight for any multi day trip.
How Deep Arrival calculates crowd scores
The 1 to 10 score combines seasonal baseline patterns with live demand signals and observed wait pressure feedback.
Best and worst days at Walt Disney World in 2026
Resort wide patterns. Specific dates and weeks worth knowing before you book.
- January 7 to February 5: The quietest stretch of the year. Scores routinely 2 to 4 across all parks.
- Early September: The week after Labor Day through mid month. School is back, hurricane season peaks, scores drop sharply.
- Early December weekdays: The first two weeks of December (Mon to Thu) before Christmas crowds arrive.
- Late August Tuesdays through Thursdays: Florida schools have returned, summer travel is winding down.
- Mid May weekdays: After spring break and before Memorial Day. The free water park admission perk drives water park demand but theme parks remain manageable.
- December 23 to January 1: The single busiest week of the year. Scores 9 to 10 across all parks.
- Spring break (mid March to early April): Three to four week stretch of consistent 7 to 9 scores.
- Independence Day week: June 28 through July 7. Hot weather drives water park spillover too.
- Thanksgiving week: Wednesday through Sunday. Scores typically 8 to 10.
- EPCOT Food and Wine Festival Saturdays: Late August through mid November. EPCOT specifically posts 8 to 9 Saturday scores even on otherwise quiet weeks.
Walt Disney World crowd calendar: frequently asked questions
What is the least crowded day to visit Walt Disney World?
The single quietest period of the year falls between January 7 and February 5. Scores routinely drop to 2 to 4 across all four theme parks during this window, with mid week Tuesday through Thursday dates posting the lowest scores. The next quietest stretch is the week after Labor Day through mid September, when school resumption and hurricane season combine to produce sustained low crowds. Early December weekdays (Monday through Thursday in the first two weeks of December) are also reliably low before Christmas demand arrives.
What is the busiest day at Walt Disney World?
The week between December 23 and January 1 is the single busiest stretch of the year at Walt Disney World, with crowd scores routinely hitting 9 to 10 across all four parks. New Year’s Eve specifically and the day after Christmas (December 26) often run highest. Other consistently heavy windows: spring break (mid March through early April), Independence Day week, Thanksgiving Wednesday through Sunday, and EPCOT Food and Wine Festival Saturdays.
Which Walt Disney World park is least crowded today?
Today’s per park crowd scores appear in the calendar widget above. As a general pattern, Animal Kingdom often posts the lowest crowd score of the four theme parks on any given day because of its earlier close time (6 to 8 PM) and lower attendance baseline. Magic Kingdom posts the highest average crowd score because it carries the highest daily attendance. Hollywood Studios and EPCOT fall between them, with EPCOT spiking during festival weekends. For each park’s full daily forecast, see the per park calendars, starting with the Animal Kingdom crowd calendar.
Are weekends busier than weekdays at Walt Disney World?
Yes, with one important exception. Saturdays are typically the busiest day of the week across all parks because Florida passholders and weekend travelers concentrate then. Sundays run slightly lower because departing weekend travelers leave by noon. The exception is during EPCOT festival weekends, when Saturday at EPCOT can run 2 to 3 tiers higher than the other parks. Tuesday through Thursday consistently post the lowest weekday scores.
Does a lower crowd score mean shorter wait times?
Generally yes, but not always proportionally. Crowd score reflects total park demand. Headliner wait times depend on both total demand and individual attraction capacity. A 4 score day at Hollywood Studios can produce longer Slinky Dog Dash waits than a 6 score day at Magic Kingdom, because Slinky has the lowest hourly capacity of any major coaster at Walt Disney World (around 800 to 1,000 guests per hour). For tactical day of waits, cross reference the Walt Disney World wait times page.
How are crowd levels calculated?
Deep Arrival’s crowd model combines three layers. The seasonal baseline draws from US and international school calendars, federal holidays, and historical attendance from public Disney financial reporting. Demand signals overlay Lightning Lane Multi Pass pricing patterns, annual passholder blockout dates, and scheduled special events. The wait pressure feedback layer calibrates predicted scores against observed wait times polled every 10 minutes across all four theme parks. The model improves over time as wait history accumulates.
How do annual passholder blockouts affect the calendar?
Annual passholder blockout dates remove a major demand segment from the parks. Magic Kingdom is the most sensitive to AP blockouts because Florida passholders represent the largest share of daily attendance there. A typical weekday that would normally score a 5 or 6 can drop to a 3 or 4 when Florida resident passes are blocked. Disney publishes blockout calendars by pass tier. Cross reference Florida Resident, Pirate Pass, Pixie Pass, Sorcerer Pass, and Incredi-Pass blockout dates against the daily calendar above for planning leverage.
Are water park crowd scores the same as theme park scores?
No. Water park demand follows a different pattern than theme park demand and is driven primarily by weather, the operating season (Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach do not both run year round), and resort guest free admission perk dates (May 26 to September 8, 2026 in 2026). The water park calendar pages cover operating status rather than a strict 1 to 10 score, because the more useful planning question at a water park is whether the park is open at all on a given day.
Why does my crowd score differ from other sites?
Different crowd calendars use different inputs and weighting. Touring Plans uses observed wait pressure heavily. Undercover Tourist leans on historical attendance patterns. Deep Arrival combines both with Lightning Lane Multi Pass pricing as a leading indicator and adds international school break overlays that many US focused calendars omit. Cross referencing two or three calendars before booking is a useful check for high stakes dates.
How far in advance is the calendar accurate?
The crowd model produces forecasts approximately 12 months forward. Forecast accuracy is strongest in the 30 day window before the date because Lightning Lane Multi Pass pricing, special event announcements, and short term travel signals have been incorporated. Forecasts 6 to 12 months out should be treated as ballpark estimates and revisited 30 to 60 days before booking.
Does this calendar list open and close times?
No. This is day-level crowd outlook. Hours: Walt Disney World park hours.
Where are wait times?
