What is new for 2026
The park is getting its first high speed outdoor coaster, and its track is already a visible new landmark on the hillside.
Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift opens in summer 2026. The park’s first high speed outdoor roller coaster sits on the Upper Lot inside a red brick, garage style building. Its 4,100 feet of track wind down the hillside and over the Starway escalators, with cars that spin 360 degrees to mimic drifting at up to 72 miles per hour. It takes over the Fast and Furious theme from Fast & Furious Supercharged, which left the Studio Tour in 2025.
Super Nintendo World anchors the Lower Lot. Open since 2023, Super Nintendo World and its Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge ride remain the park’s other modern headliner and the reason to head down the Starway early in the day.

The park sits on a hillside in two levels. You enter the Upper Lot, home to the Studio Tour, the Wizarding World, Springfield, and the front of park rides. The Starway, a set of four long escalators, drops you to the Lower Lot, where Super Nintendo World and three big rides sit. Each card is tagged by lot so you can plan one trip down and back.
The park’s signature attraction, a tram ride behind the scenes of a working film studio, past famous sets and special effects including a flash flood, an earthquake, the War of the Worlds plane crash, and King Kong 360 3-D. It boards from the Upper Lot.

At rope drop: where to start
The trick at Universal Studios Hollywood is the hillside. Getting down to the Lower Lot early, before the escalators back up, wins the morning. The map turns that into a plan.
Head down the Starway first
The Lower Lot, Super Nintendo World plus Jurassic World, Transformers, and Revenge of the Mummy, is best in the first hour before the escalators clog. Ride Mario Kart and the three big rides, then come back up in one trip.
Then the Studio Tour
The World Famous Studio Tour is the signature, and its line grows steadily through the morning, so board it before midday once you are back on the Upper Lot.
Work the Upper Lot front rides around it
Forbidden Journey, The Simpsons Ride, Despicable Me, and The Secret Life of Pets near the entrance draw long waits early, so fit them in around your trip down to the Lower Lot.
