How Express Pass Works
Express Pass gives you access to a separate, shorter queue at most attractions. You still wait, but the Express line is typically a fraction of the standby wait. It does not include park admission. Hotels That Include Express Pass
Three Universal Premier hotels include complimentary Unlimited Express Pass for Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure. The pass is activated through your room key and is valid on your check in day, every full day of your stay, and your check out day. Everyone registered to the room receives the benefit.

The complimentary Express perk exists because of a deal Universal signed with Loews Hotels years ago. That deal does not extend to Epic Universe or to newer hotels like the Helios Grand. Universal has no announced plans to expand complimentary Express to any additional hotels or parks.
For families of four, the math often works out in favor of staying at a Premier hotel even at a higher nightly rate. Two days of purchased Unlimited Express for a family of four can easily exceed $1,200 to $2,000 depending on dates. If the Premier hotel costs $300 to $500 more per night than a Value hotel, the Express savings more than cover the difference for USF and IOA days.

Express Pass at Epic Universe
Epic Universe operates under different Express rules than the other two parks. Only single use Express is available. There is no Unlimited option. No hotel includes it. Every guest pays the same price regardless of where they stay. Pricing varies by date and typically ranges from roughly $130 on less busy days to $350 or more during peak periods.
As of spring 2026, Express is accepted at all Epic Universe attractions except Dragon Racer’s Rally. Epic Universe uses facial recognition at Express lanes, so your pass is linked to you at the point of entry.
This structure makes Epic Universe the most expensive park for Express access across the resort. There is no hotel workaround, no unlimited option to smooth out the per ride economics, and no annual pass discount on Express purchases. If Express matters to your Epic Universe plan, budget for it as a separate line item on top of the ticket.
Express Now
Express Now is a newer option that lets you purchase Express access for one attraction at a time instead of committing to a full day pass. Think of it as buying your way past the line for just one ride when you see a long wait and decide it is worth the cost.
Availability is limited and appears throughout the day on a rolling basis through the Universal app. Not every attraction offers Express Now at all times, and it can sell out quickly for popular rides. Pricing varies by ride and demand. This option works best for travelers who do not want to pay for a full Express Pass but are willing to spend on the one or two rides where the wait would otherwise eat an hour or more.

When Express Pass Is Worth It
Worth it on busy days. If you are visiting during a holiday week, a summer weekend, or any period when standby waits exceed 60 to 90 minutes for major attractions, Express pays for itself in time savings. The busier the park, the more hours Express saves you.
Worth it on short trips. If you only have one or two days to see everything at Universal Orlando, Express lets you fit more into a compressed schedule. The cost per ride drops when you are using it across a full day of attractions.
Less clear on slow days. If you are visiting on a Tuesday in September and standby waits are 15 to 25 minutes, Express does not deliver much incremental value. Check wait times in the Universal app before purchasing at the gate.
Less clear for young children. Many of the headlining attractions have height requirements. If your children cannot ride the majority of Express eligible rides, the per person cost delivers less return. Count the rides your family can actually ride before committing.
Consider the hotel math first. Before purchasing Express separately for USF and IOA, compare the cost of a Premier hotel stay that includes Unlimited Express. For families of three or more, the hotel route often costs less than buying Express on top of a Value hotel stay.
