How to read these hours

A few signals tell you everything important about each date at Ocean Park Hong Kong at a glance.

Operating Hours
Open and close times
Every posted date shows the open and close for Ocean Park in Hong Kong Time. The open is 10:00 AM year round. The close is 6:30 PM on ordinary dates, 7:00 PM through the summer school holiday and on public holiday clusters, and 11:00 PM on Halloween Fest evenings in October.
Waterfront and Summit
Two halves, two links
Ocean Park is built on both sides of Brick Hill. The Waterfront sits at the main entrance; the Summit holds most of the thrill rides. A cable car and the Ocean Express funicular are the only ways across, and neither carries a posted time of its own, so treat the park close as the last crossing.
Crowd Signal
What to read instead of a pass
No general paid line skip product turned up in the sources used here, so the lever at Ocean Park is timing rather than a wristband. Read the posted close: 6:30 PM is an ordinary day, 7:00 PM is a holiday or school break, and 11:00 PM is a Halloween Fest night.
Seasonal Events
Halloween Fest and Christmas
The park has staged an annual Halloween event through October since 2008, run lately as Ocean Park Halloween Fest, plus Christmas programming that carries into January. Halloween Fest is what pushes the close to 11:00 PM. Water World at Tai Shue Wan sells its own ticket and keeps its own hours.

Crossing between the Waterfront and the Summit

Ocean Park is not one continuous park. The main gate opens onto the Waterfront, the lower half beside Aberdeen, holding Aqua City, Amazing Asian Animals and Whiskers Harbour. The Summit sits on the far side of Brick Hill with Marine World, Thrill Mountain, Polar Adventure and Rainforest. Two systems link them: a cable car running about 1.5 kilometers in 252 six seat cars, roughly eight minutes above the South China Sea, and the Ocean Express, a funicular opened on September 9, 2009 that runs through a tunnel inside the hill and carries up to 250 passengers per train.

Because both links are also attractions, they queue like attractions. Each posts boarding points on either side of the hill, and the return trip is a separate line at the end of the day, when everyone leaving the Summit wants the same two vehicles. Neither carries hours of its own on the posted calendar, so treat the park close as the last crossing and start down before it. The cable car is the slower and more scenic option; the funicular is faster and runs underground.

Which link to take, and when

The usual pattern is cable car up in the morning and Ocean Express down at night, and it holds up. The view is worth the ride once, and the morning line at the Waterfront cable car station tends to be shorter than the evening line at the Summit. In the other direction the funicular moves larger groups per departure, which matters when the whole Summit empties at once. On a Halloween Fest date with an 11:00 PM close, that crossing is typically the longest wait of the day.

Paid line skip at Ocean Park, and what actually moves the day

No general paid line skip product for Ocean Park Hong Kong appeared in any source used for this page. That is worth saying plainly rather than guessing at one. Resale sites often list a skip the line ticket for Ocean Park that turns out to save time at the ticket window rather than at the ride queues. If a fast track product matters to your plan, confirm it with the park directly before paying for it.

What does move the day is the shape of the park. Waits cluster in two places: the Waterfront animal exhibits in the first two hours, when arriving families walk straight into Giant Panda Adventure and The Grand Aquarium, and the Summit thrill rides through the middle of the afternoon. Splitting those peaks is most of the strategy. Published admission runs HK$438 for adults and HK$219 for children aged 3 to 11, with children under 3 free, so timing is the cheaper lever.

Halloween Fest, Christmas, and the 11:00 PM October closes

Ocean Park has staged an annual Halloween event through October since 2008, run in recent years as Ocean Park Halloween Fest and built around walk through haunted houses and roaming performers. It is the single largest change to the park's clock all year. On Halloween Fest dates in October 2026 the posted close moves from 6:30 PM to 11:00 PM: October 9 to 11, October 16 to 19, October 23 to 25, and October 30 and 31. The open stays at 10:00 AM on all twelve, making them thirteen hour days.

The haunted houses draw their crowd after dark, and the guests coming for them arrive through the late afternoon, so daytime rides are often quieter between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM on a Halloween Fest date than at noon. The content aims at older children and adults rather than the Whiskers Harbour age group. Closing time is when the queues close, and the bottleneck is the crossing rather than the gate. Christmas programming follows from December into January, though the 2026 dates were not posted when this page was checked.

How Ocean Park sets its daily hours

Ocean Park runs year round. Across August, September and October 2026 the posted calendar carried no closed dates at all, and the open was 10:00 AM on every one of them. What varies is the close. The ordinary close is 6:30 PM. It stretches to 7:00 PM through the summer school holiday, which on the 2026 calendar ran to August 23 before dropping back on August 24, and again on public holiday clusters: September 26 and 27 around the day following the Mid Autumn Festival, and October 1 to 4 around National Day.

The day of the week matters far less here than the Hong Kong holiday calendar. A Tuesday and a Saturday in mid September carry the same 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM window, while a Thursday that happens to be a public holiday can carry a longer one. Today's hours appear in the card near the top of this page, and the day by day list below shows every posted date.

How far ahead the calendar goes

Ocean Park does not publish a full year of daily hours the way a seasonal park does. When the calendars behind this page were checked in early September 2026, dates were posted through the end of October and nothing beyond that was available, which fits a park that opens every day and only needs to flag the exceptions. For a trip in December or later, work on 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM as the planning assumption and check again about a month out.

The first hour at Ocean Park: pandas or the Summit

The decision at 10:00 AM is whether to stay low or go up. Staying low means Amazing Asian Animals and Aqua City are a short walk from the turnstiles, with Giant Panda Adventure, The Hong Kong Jockey Club Sichuan Treasures, The Grand Aquarium and the Emerald Trail all within a few minutes of the gate. Going up means boarding the cable car or Ocean Express immediately and reaching Thrill Mountain, Marine World, Polar Adventure and Rainforest ahead of the crowd that stopped for the pandas.

For a group that came for rides, go up first. Hair Raiser, the floorless coaster on Thrill Mountain, and The Rapids in Rainforest build their longest waits from late morning, and the Summit is where the walking is. Arctic Blast in Polar Adventure and the Ferris Wheel and Ocean Park Tower in Marine World fill the rest of the morning. Come back down in the afternoon, when the panda houses have thinned and the aquarium is a cool place to stand. Running that order backward is the common mistake.

Before you reach the gate

Aim to be at the entrance plaza 20 to 30 minutes before the open. Exit B at Ocean Park station lands on a footbridge to the main entrance, so the walk in is short, but ticket windows and bag check still take time on a holiday morning. Buy admission in advance. Note too that work on a new Adventure Zone began in late 2024 with completion targeted for 2028, and the older Adventure Land rides named in earlier guidebooks no longer appear on the park's live attraction list.

Getting to Ocean Park: the South Island line, bus, taxi, and parking

The MTR South Island line is the fastest way in from anywhere on Hong Kong Island. Ocean Park is the first station south of Admiralty, a ride of roughly ten minutes, and Admiralty is an interchange with the Island line, the Tsuen Wan line and the East Rail line. From Central that means one stop east to Admiralty, then one stop south. The station opened on December 28, 2016. Take Exit B for the footbridge to the main entrance; Exit A leads to the Ocean Park Public Transport Interchange, and Exit C to Wong Chuk Hang Road.

Citybus route 629 runs to Ocean Park from Central through the Aberdeen Tunnel and predates the railway. It is the slower option: the equivalent trip by train from Admiralty is about 21 minutes quicker. The current fare and timetable for route 629 were not published on any source reachable for this page, so confirm both with the operator. A taxi from Central takes roughly ten minutes through the tunnel outside peak hours, and a pier at Tai Shue Wan on the Water World side has been served by ferry since 2023.

A park and ride facility sits beside Ocean Park station. Parking rates at the park's own car park were not published on any source used for this page, so a driver should confirm the charge directly rather than budget a guess. Between island traffic, the Aberdeen Tunnel and a ten minute train, driving is the least attractive of the three ways in, and the only one that leaves a vehicle to retrieve after an 11:00 PM close.

Ocean Park hours through the year, and Water World

The baseline through most of the year is 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM, and on most dates outside the summer holiday and October that is what gets posted. Longer closes typically attach to Hong Kong public holidays rather than to weekends, so a Lunar New Year or Easter date is likelier to run late than an ordinary Saturday. Summer is the first clear change: the 2026 calendar carried 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM through August 23, covering the school holiday, then returned to 6:30 PM from August 24 onward.

October is the outlier. Regular dates hold at 6:30 PM, National Day pushes October 1 to 4 out to 7:00 PM, and Halloween Fest carries twelve evenings to 11:00 PM. November drops back toward the baseline, and December brings Christmas programming that runs into January, although the 2026 dates and closing times had not been posted when this page was checked. Nothing in the published calendar points to a closed season.

Water World has its own gate and its own clock

Water World Ocean Park Hong Kong is a separate park at Tai Shue Wan, on a hillside near the main gate, and it charges admission separately. It opened on September 21, 2021, covers about 55,740 square meters, and was built as an all season water park rather than a summer add on. Its hours are set independently of the main park's and were not published on any source reachable for this page. A main park ticket does not admit anyone to Water World.

Frequently asked questions

What time does Ocean Park Hong Kong open?

Ocean Park opens at 10:00 AM. That open time held on every posted date across August, September and October 2026, including public holidays and Halloween Fest evenings, so the open is the stable half of the schedule and the close is the part that moves. No earlier entry window for any ticket or membership tier appears on the posted calendar.

What time does Ocean Park Hong Kong close?

The ordinary close is 6:30 PM. It moves to 7:00 PM through the summer school holiday and on public holiday clusters, which in 2026 covered dates through August 23, September 26 and 27, and October 1 to 4. On Halloween Fest evenings in October the close runs to 11:00 PM. Guests already in line at the posted close are typically still carried.

What are Ocean Park's hours today?

Today's posted open and close for Ocean Park appear in the card near the top of this page, shown in Hong Kong Time. Expect 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM on an ordinary date, 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM during the summer holiday or a public holiday cluster, and 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM on a Halloween Fest evening in October.

What are Ocean Park's hours tomorrow?

Tomorrow's hours sit in the 14 day table below the today card, and the day by day list below that shows every posted date. Because Ocean Park opens daily at 10:00 AM and varies only its close, tomorrow's open is almost always 10:00 AM. Check the close, which shifts for public holidays, school breaks and Halloween Fest evenings.

Is Ocean Park open every month, and is it ever closed?

Ocean Park operates year round rather than in a season. The posted calendar for August, September and October 2026 carried no closed dates at all, and the park does not shut for winter. Water World at Tai Shue Wan is also billed as an all season park. Individual attractions close for maintenance, and severe weather warnings can close the park at short notice.

Does Ocean Park have early entry or a members preview?

No early entry or preview window appears on Ocean Park's posted operating calendar, and none turned up in the sources used for this page. Every guest enters at the 10:00 AM open. The head start you can build is your own: arrive 20 to 30 minutes early, buy admission in advance, and decide before the gate whether you are going up to the Summit or staying on the Waterfront.

What should you see first at Ocean Park?

If the group came for rides, board the cable car or Ocean Express at 10:00 AM and head to the Summit for Hair Raiser on Thrill Mountain, The Rapids in Rainforest, and Arctic Blast in Polar Adventure. If the group came for animals, stay on the Waterfront for Giant Panda Adventure and The Grand Aquarium, then go up after lunch. Doing the two halves in the wrong order costs the most time.

Is there a paid line skip pass at Ocean Park?

No general paid line skip product for Ocean Park Hong Kong appeared in any source used for this page. Listings on resale sites that advertise skipping the line for Ocean Park are usually admission tickets that save time at the ticket window, not at the ride queues. Confirm any fast track product with the park directly before buying it.

Does Ocean Park run evening events or fireworks?

The main evening event is Ocean Park Halloween Fest, held through October since 2008 and built around walk through haunted houses. On Halloween Fest dates the park stays open to 11:00 PM instead of 6:30 PM. Christmas programming follows from December into January. Specific 2026 show names, times and any fireworks were not posted when this page was checked.

How early should you arrive at Ocean Park?

Reach the entrance plaza 20 to 30 minutes before the 10:00 AM open. Exit B at Ocean Park station lands on a footbridge to the main entrance, so the walk is short, but ticket windows and bag check add time on holiday mornings. On a Halloween Fest date the calculation flips: a mid afternoon arrival works better, since the haunted houses open only after dark.

How do you get to Ocean Park, and what does parking cost?

Take the MTR South Island line to Ocean Park station, one stop south of Admiralty and about ten minutes, then Exit B for the footbridge. From Central, ride one stop to Admiralty first. Citybus route 629 runs from Central through the Aberdeen Tunnel and is roughly 21 minutes slower. Parking rates at the park were not published on any source used for this page.

Why do Ocean Park's closing times change through the year?

The close tracks demand, and in Hong Kong that means the public holiday and school calendar rather than the weekend. A 6:30 PM close is the ordinary schedule. A 7:00 PM close signals the summer holiday or a cluster such as National Day or the Mid Autumn Festival. An 11:00 PM close means Halloween Fest. The 10:00 AM open stays fixed through all of it.

Does Water World keep the same hours as Ocean Park?

No. Water World Ocean Park Hong Kong is a separate park at Tai Shue Wan with its own gate and its own ticket, and its hours are set independently of the main park's 10:00 AM open. Those hours were not published on any source reachable for this page, so check them before booking. A main park ticket does not include Water World admission.
