How to read these hours

A few signals tell you everything important about each date at Dorney Park at a glance.

Operating Hours
Open and close times
Each date shows the posted open and close for Dorney Park in Eastern Time. Peak summer weekends run 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM, most weekdays open at 10:30 AM or 11:00 AM and close between 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM, and Halloween Haunt Fridays open at 6:00 PM. Wildwater Kingdom keeps a shorter window inside the ride day, typically 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM or 7:00 PM.
Early Entry
No early ride window
Dorney Park does not publish an Early Ride Time program for 2026, so the posted open is the real open for everyone. Gold and Prestige passholders get free parking, and Prestige adds a VIP entrance lane, but neither puts you on a coaster before the public. Arriving 30 to 45 minutes early is the only head start on offer.
Crowd Forecast
1 to 10 scale per day
Where shown, the colored crowd pill gives the forecast for the date. Very Slow (1 to 2), Slow (3 to 4), Moderate (5 to 6), Busy (7 to 8), Very Busy (9 to 10). Weekdays in mid June and late August tend to land low, while Saturdays in October, with Halloween Haunt running, sit near the top of the scale.
Shows and Events
Fireworks and event nights
Dorney Park has no nightly fireworks. Star-Spangled Nights brings a fireworks finale July 3 through 5, Viva La Fiesta adds evening entertainment on summer weekends, and the SPLASH! Water Parade runs select August dates. Halloween Haunt replaces regular hours on select nights from September 18 through October 31, and the season ends November 1.

Early entry at Dorney Park

Dorney Park does not run an Early Ride Time program in 2026. Sister parks under Six Flags Entertainment Corporation do run one: Kings Island opens a rotating set of rides to Gold and Prestige passholders 30 minutes before the public, and Cedar Point gives Prestige passholders and resort guests an hour on select rides. The Dorney Park season pass page lists no such benefit, and there is no early entry page. The posted opening time on the calendar is the time the first guest reaches the first coaster, whoever they are: one open, one close, and no hidden window in front of it.

What passholders get is a faster route to the gate rather than an earlier one. Gold and Prestige passes include free general parking, which removes the toll plaza stop, and the Prestige Pass lists a VIP entrance lane and one Single-Use Fast Lane per visit. Neither benefit starts the rides early. On a Saturday with a 10:00 AM open, a passholder and a day ticket holder at the turnstiles at 9:45 AM walk to Iron Menace at the same moment. If the park adds an early ride window later, it will appear on the official season pass page.

Who qualifies for what, and when to arrive

The 2027 Gold Pass, on sale since August 2026 and valid for the rest of this season, covers Dorney Park and the other East Coast parks in the chain, with free general parking and unlimited visits including Halloween Haunt nights. The Prestige Pass adds every Six Flags park, preferred parking where available, free fountain drinks, the VIP entrance, and a single ride skip each visit. Day tickets include none of these, and there is no on site hotel, so no resort guest early access exists. The only head start is arriving early: be parked 30 to 45 minutes before a weekend open.

Fast Lane at Dorney Park

Dorney Park sells one paid line skip product, Fast Lane, and it works as a wristband rather than a virtual queue. Show the wristband at the Fast Lane entrance of a participating ride and join the shorter line, as often as you like on the same day. The official page says the wristband covers more than 25 rides and names Iron Menace, Steel Force, and Talon among them. The park has sold a separate Fast Lane Plus tier for Wildwater Kingdom slides in past seasons, so check the current ride list if the water park is the priority.

Pricing is date based. Daily Fast Lane starts at $49 per person plus a processing fee of up to $9.99 and taxes, and the price climbs on summer Saturdays, holiday weekends, and Halloween Haunt nights. An All Season Fast Lane add on was listed at $499 during the late summer 2026 sale, down from an $899 regular price, and it pays off for anyone planning three or more busy visits. Prestige passholders receive one Single-Use Fast Lane per visit, a single ride skip redeemed through the Six Flags app rather than an all day wristband.

Fast Lane does not include the Halloween Haunt mazes. Those need a Haunted Attractions Pass, sold from $10 for a chosen night, bundled with admission from $55, or as an all season version that was $29 in the presale, plus a separate express maze upgrade to skip the maze lines. On a quiet June weekday with 10 minute waits, Fast Lane is money wasted. On an October Saturday or the July 4 weekend, when Iron Menace passes 45 minutes, it can be the difference between riding every coaster and riding three.

Fireworks, event nights, and what happens at closing

Dorney Park does not stage a nightly fireworks or drone show. The one fireworks event is Star-Spangled Nights, July 3 through 5, 2026, with an evening fireworks finale; the park notes that select rides may close early for the display and that the show is weather permitting. Viva La Fiesta runs on select weekend dates from June 20 through July 26, from 5:00 PM to park close, with live Latin music on the midway and a ¡WEPA! Summer Fiesta Finale to cap the night. The SPLASH! Water Parade runs select afternoons August 1 through 23. All of it is included with admission.

Fall flips the schedule. Halloween Haunt runs select nights from September 18 through October 31, with Fridays open 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM and Saturdays opening at 11:00 AM for the family Tricks and Treats program before the scare zones take over after dark and the park runs to 11:00 PM. Sundays vary: September 20 is a Tricks and Treats only day closing at 7:00 PM, while September 27 and every October Sunday run Haunt to 11:00 PM. The final date, Sunday, November 1, is Tricks and Treats only, 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Haunt is not recommended for children under 13, and after 4:00 PM guests 15 and younger need a chaperone aged 21 or older.

Closing time at Dorney Park means the ride queues close, not the gates. If you are in line for Steel Force at the posted close, you ride. The crowd then drains uphill toward the main entrance over the following half hour, and the exit onto Hamilton Boulevard backs up for 15 to 30 minutes on Haunt Saturdays. Wildwater Kingdom closes earlier than the rides on most dates, typically 6:00 PM or 7:00 PM, so plan the water park for the afternoon and the coasters for the last two hours, when lines are shortest.

How Dorney Park sets its hours

Dorney Park is a seasonal park. The 2026 season opened on Friday, May 8 with a 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM day, and the calendar ends on Sunday, November 1. May is Fridays through Sundays only until Memorial Day weekend, when daily operation begins on May 22; the only closed day after that until late August was Wednesday, May 27. Wildwater Kingdom opened Saturday, May 30, after rain pushed back its Memorial Day weekend debut. Daily operation ran through Sunday, August 23, after which the park closed Monday through Thursday and reopened for Labor Day weekend, September 4 through 7.

In the shoulder seasons the closed days each week are Monday through Thursday. September 2026 has open dates only on Labor Day weekend, Sunday, September 13, and the Haunt weekends from Friday, September 18. October is Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. There is no winter event: Dorney Park has not run a holiday season in recent years and has announced nothing for late 2026, so after November 1 the park is closed until May.

Dorney Park announces its opening date in December of the prior year and its event calendar in April. Day by day hours for the summer are typically live on the official calendar by opening day, and in 2026 the Halloween Haunt hours were posted by late summer. What changes later is the detail: a private event can shift a Saturday, Wildwater Kingdom drops to weekends once schools reopen, and weather can end a day early. Today's hours appear in the card near the top of this page, and the day by day list below shows every posted date.

Rope drop strategy at Dorney Park

Dorney Park is built on a hillside with the main entrance at the top. Three of the five headline coasters are within a few minutes' walk of the turnstiles: Talon's inverted track flies over the entrance plaza, Hydra the Revenge, the floorless coaster, occupies the front corner of the park, and Iron Menace, the 160 foot dive coaster that opened in May 2024, anchors the Steel Yard section near the front. Steel Force, the 200 foot hypercoaster, and Possessed, the launched inverted coaster, are farther down the hill.

The decision at the rope is Iron Menace or Steel Force. Iron Menace draws the longest wait of the day because it is the newest ride, the only dive coaster in the region, and steps from the gate, so most of the crowd heads there first. Ride it immediately and it costs 10 minutes; at 1:00 PM on a Saturday it costs 45 or more. The contrarian plan is to walk straight down the hill to Steel Force, ride it and Possessed while the front of the park absorbs the crowd, and come back up for Iron Menace, Hydra, and Talon before noon.

First hour order

A first hour that clears Iron Menace, Hydra the Revenge, and Talon before noon on a summer weekend leaves the rest of the day for Steel Force, Possessed, Thunderhawk, and Wildwater Kingdom. Thunderhawk, the wooden coaster that opened in 1924, rarely needs a rope drop slot and is a good last ride. Height minimums matter for families: Iron Menace, Steel Force, and Thunderhawk take riders from 48 inches, Possessed from 52, and Talon and Hydra from 54.

Iron Menace (Steel Yard, near the main entrance)
Hydra the Revenge (front of the park)
Talon (beside the entrance plaza)
Steel Force (bottom of the hill)
Possessed (lower park)

Mistakes to avoid

The most common rope drop mistake is stopping at Talon because it is the first coaster you see. Its line stays reasonable all day, and the 10 minutes it costs at opening are worth 40 at Iron Menace. The second is heading to Wildwater Kingdom at the open: the slides start at 11:00 AM on most dates and the water park is quietest after 3:00 PM. The third is treating a Haunt Friday like a morning. With a 6:00 PM open the crowd arrives at once, maze lines peak from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and the coasters are the shortest waits in the final hour.

What the closing time tells you about the day

Dorney Park's posted close is a demand signal. A 10:00 PM close is the full capacity schedule, used on Saturdays and Sundays from late June through mid August, and it says the park expects enough guests to staff every coaster past dark. A 9:00 PM close on a July weekday is the standard summer day. An 8:00 PM or 7:00 PM close in early June or late August means school is in session, and a 6:00 PM close, posted on the first weekdays of June 2026, is the shortest day of the year, quiet enough that Fast Lane is pointless.

An 11:00 PM close is never a regular day at Dorney Park; it belongs to Halloween Haunt, where the mazes and scare zones hold the crowd late. Late opens matter as much as early closes. A 6:00 PM Friday open in September or October is a Haunt night with no daytime rides. A 10:00 AM open marks the busiest days of summer, while 10:30 AM or 11:00 AM is the everyday pattern. Between a 10:00 PM date and a 7:00 PM date, the 7:00 PM date will almost always have shorter lines, though it also gives you three fewer hours.

Getting to Dorney Park: parking, drive times, and transit

Dorney Park sits on Dorney Park Road off Hamilton Boulevard in South Whitehall Township, on the western edge of Allentown, Pennsylvania. From Interstate 78 use exit 54 for US 222 and Hamilton Boulevard; from the Pennsylvania Turnpike Northeast Extension use exit 56 for Lehigh Valley. The drive from Center City Philadelphia is about 56 miles and 1 hour 15 minutes without traffic. From Manhattan it is about 91 miles and 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours via Interstate 78, longer on a summer Friday. From Stroudsburg and the Poconos, plan on 40 miles and about an hour.

General parking was listed at $39 per standard vehicle for the 2026 season and preferred parking at $49, and prepaying online is typically a few dollars cheaper than paying at the gate. Gold and Prestige season passes include free general parking, and Prestige adds preferred parking where available. The lot feeds the main entrance at the top of the hill, so a late arrival on a busy Saturday means a long walk from the far end. Arrive early on Haunt Saturdays and the July 4 weekend; the entrance road backs up onto Hamilton Boulevard by late afternoon.

There is no rail service to the park. LANTA, the Lehigh Valley transit authority, runs local buses along Hamilton Boulevard to a Dorneyville stop near the entrance, typically hourly from downtown Allentown for a $2 fare, a ride of roughly 10 to 15 minutes. Trans-Bridge Lines runs coaches from the Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York to Dorneyville, about three hours with transfers. Martz and Flixbus connect Philadelphia to the Allentown Transportation Center in 70 minutes to 2 hours. Lehigh Valley International Airport is about 20 minutes away by car.

Dorney Park hours by season

Spring, from opening day on May 8 through May 17, is Fridays through Sundays only. Fridays typically run 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM and Saturdays and Sundays 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Wildwater Kingdom is closed for all of it and did not open until May 30. The crowd is local and pass heavy, and the first weekend is busier than the calendar suggests because the whole region wants the same opening day. May weekdays before Memorial Day are school field trip dates in most years.

Summer, from Memorial Day weekend through late August, is daily. Late May and early June days open at 10:30 AM and close between 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM, stepping later each week as schools let out. From late June through mid August the pattern is 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM on weekdays, 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM on Fridays, and 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM on weekends, with Wildwater Kingdom open daily, typically 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM or 7:00 PM. Weekday closes drop back to 7:00 PM or 8:00 PM from mid August, and daily operation ended on August 23 in 2026.

Fall is event driven. Labor Day weekend, September 4 through 7, runs 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM with Labor Day itself closing at 8:00 PM, and a lone Sunday on September 13 runs 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Halloween Haunt then takes over from September 18: Fridays 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM, Saturdays 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM, and Sundays 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM in October, with September 20 and the final Tricks and Treats Sunday on November 1 closing at 7:00 PM. Tricks and Treats fills daylight hours with Planet Snoopy rides and a trick or treat trail. Wildwater Kingdom is closed for the year.

Winter is closed. Dorney Park runs no holiday event, so from November 2 until opening day the following May the gates stay shut. The 2027 opening date had not been announced as of early September 2026; recent seasons have opened on a Friday in the second week of May, with Wildwater Kingdom following on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. For a first visit, the quietest full days are Tuesdays through Thursdays in mid June and late August, and the longest are the 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM Saturdays of July.

Frequently asked questions

What time does Dorney Park open?

Dorney Park opens at 10:00 AM on peak summer weekends, at 10:30 AM on most late May and early June dates, and at 11:00 AM on most weekdays from mid June through August and on every fall daytime date. Halloween Haunt Fridays open at 6:00 PM. There is no early entry program, so the posted time is the first ride time for every guest.

What time does Dorney Park close?

Dorney Park closes at 10:00 PM on summer weekends from late June through mid August, at 9:00 PM on most July weekdays, and between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM on late May, early June, and late August weekdays. Halloween Haunt nights run to 11:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays and on October Sundays. Guests in line at the posted close still ride.

What are Dorney Park's hours today?

Today's posted open and close for Dorney Park appear in the card near the top of this page, in Eastern Time. Expect 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM on a summer weekday, 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM on a summer weekend, and 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM on a Halloween Haunt Friday. If the card shows no hours, the park is closed.

What are Dorney Park's hours tomorrow?

Tomorrow's hours are in the 14 day table below the today card, followed by the day by day list of every posted date. Dorney Park posts its season calendar months ahead, so tomorrow's hours are rarely a surprise, but a private event or a weather call can change them. Confirm in the Six Flags app the evening before.

Is Dorney Park open today, and which months is it open?

Dorney Park is open daily from Memorial Day weekend through late August, on Fridays through Sundays in early and mid May, on Labor Day weekend, and on select Friday through Sunday dates for Halloween Haunt and Tricks and Treats from September 18 through November 1. It is closed from November 2 until May, and on Mondays through Thursdays outside summer.

Does Dorney Park have early entry or Early Ride Time?

No. Dorney Park does not publish an Early Ride Time program for 2026, unlike sister parks such as Kings Island and Cedar Point. Gold and Prestige passholders get free parking, and Prestige adds a VIP entrance lane and one Single-Use Fast Lane per visit, but no pass tier starts the rides before the posted open. There is no on site hotel.

What should you ride first at Dorney Park?

Iron Menace, the dive coaster in the Steel Yard near the main entrance, is the standard first ride because it draws the longest wait of the day and sits steps from the gate. Then take Hydra the Revenge and Talon at the top of the hill, and walk down to Steel Force and Possessed by late morning. Save Thunderhawk and Wildwater Kingdom for the afternoon.

Is Fast Lane worth it at Dorney Park?

Daily Fast Lane starts at $49 per person plus fees and rises on busy dates, covering more than 25 rides including Iron Menace, Steel Force, and Talon. It pays off on summer Saturdays, the July 4 weekend, and Halloween Haunt nights when Iron Menace passes 45 minutes, and not on a June weekday with 10 minute waits. Haunt mazes need a separate Haunted Attractions Pass.

Does Dorney Park have fireworks or evening shows?

Dorney Park has no nightly fireworks. Star-Spangled Nights brings a fireworks finale on July 3 through 5, 2026, weather permitting. Viva La Fiesta adds live Latin music and a finale show from 5:00 PM to close on select weekends from June 20 through July 26, and Halloween Haunt brings scare zones and shows after dark from September 18. All are included with admission.

How early should you arrive at Dorney Park?

Aim to be parked 30 to 45 minutes before the posted open on a weekend or holiday, roughly 9:15 AM for a 10:00 AM open, which puts you on the entrance plaza before the rides start. On a weekday, 20 minutes ahead is enough. For a Halloween Haunt Friday with a 6:00 PM open, arriving by 5:30 PM avoids the worst of the entrance road line.

How much is parking at Dorney Park and how do you get there?

General parking was listed at $39 per vehicle for 2026 and preferred parking at $49, and Gold and Prestige passes include general parking. The park is off Interstate 78 exit 54 on Hamilton Boulevard in Allentown, about 56 miles and 1 hour 15 minutes from Philadelphia, 91 miles and under 2 hours from New York, and an hour from the Poconos.

Do Dorney Park hours change in busy seasons?

Yes. Hours stretch to 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM on weekends from late June through mid August and to 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM on peak weekdays, then contract to 7:00 PM or 8:00 PM closes once Pennsylvania schools return in late August. Halloween Haunt replaces daytime hours with a 6:00 PM open on Fridays and pushes weekend closes to 11:00 PM.

Why is Dorney Park closing early on a specific date?

An early close, such as 6:00 PM or 7:00 PM on a late May, early June, or late August weekday, reflects expected attendance: school is in session and the park trims the evening. A 7:00 PM Sunday close in September or on November 1 marks a Tricks and Treats only day with no Halloween Haunt. Lightning can also end a day early by closing the coasters.

What are Wildwater Kingdom water park hours at Dorney Park?

Wildwater Kingdom, included with Dorney Park admission, opened Saturday, May 30, 2026 after rain delayed the Memorial Day weekend opening, and runs inside the ride park's longer hours, typically 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM or 7:00 PM. It operates daily from June through mid August, then on select weekend dates through Labor Day weekend, and is closed during Halloween Haunt.
