Waterloo Regional Airport will host a TSA PreCheck enrollment event with IDEMIA from Tuesday, October 20, through Friday, October 23, 2026, the airport said on September 21. Appointments run at 2790 Livingston Lane from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. each of those four days. The walk-in window is for U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, and lawful permanent residents who want a Known Traveler Number without driving to a larger Iowa city.
Finish the online application before you arrive, then bring identity and citizenship documents to the in-person slot. IDEMIA charges 76.75 for a five-year membership. Cedar Valley flyers who use American Airlines through Chicago O’Hare should treat that fee as the price of a dedicated screening lane on later trips, and start with Deep Arrival’s airlines planning hub if the next booking is already on the calendar.
- Dates: October 20 through 23, 2026, at Waterloo Regional Airport.
- Hours: 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
- Place: 2790 Livingston Lane, Waterloo, Iowa.
- Fee: 76.75 through IDEMIA for five years, paid at the appointment.
- KTN timing: Most applicants receive a Known Traveler Number in about three to five days.
Enrollment Hours and Address at Waterloo Regional Airport
The airport’s September 21 notice puts the pop-up at the same Livingston Lane campus travelers already use for commercial flights. Director of Aviation Steven Kjergaard said Waterloo is hosting enrollment again so Cedar Valley residents can complete the process locally instead of booking a separate trip to another enrollment center. That is the entire point of the four-day window: one local appointment instead of a second drive.
Hours split into a morning block and an afternoon block, with a noon to 1 p.m. gap. If you can only come at lunch, that hour is closed. Arrive with the online application already submitted so staff can move straight to documents, fingerprints, and the photo. The airport says that sequence is faster when the paperwork is done first.
Eligibility is narrow. TSA PreCheck enrollment at this event is open to U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, and lawful permanent residents. If you hold another immigration status, this pop-up is not the path. Confirm eligibility on the application before you block October 20, 21, 22, or 23 on the calendar.
What the 76.75 IDEMIA Appointment Includes
IDEMIA is one of three TSA-authorized enrollment providers. At Waterloo it is charging 76.75 for a new five-year membership, which matches the IDEMIA new-enrollment price listed on the TSA PreCheck program page. Payment happens at the appointment, not when you start the online form. Bring the card or payment method you plan to use; the airport notice does not list cash as an option.
The in-person stop is short if the file is complete. Staff check identity and citizenship documents, capture fingerprints and a photo, and collect the fee. TSA says a typical enrollment visit takes about 10 minutes after you sit down. The Waterloo notice still tells applicants to complete the application online beforehand so that 10-minute clock is realistic.
Approval is not instant at the table. After the appointment, most people receive a Known Traveler Number in about three to five days. Until that number is in the airline reservation, the boarding pass will not show the TSA PreCheck indicator. Do not assume the October appointment itself changes a flight that week.
Known Traveler Numbers and Boarding Passes After Approval
The Known Traveler Number has to be stored on the reservation, not only in a screenshot on your phone. Add it to the airline profile and to each booking. Waterloo’s carrier is American Airlines, so the number belongs in the American profile before the next O’Hare ticket is issued. If a boarding pass prints without the TSA PreCheck mark, the profile or the ticket file is missing the number.
TSA says enrolled members use dedicated lanes at more than 200 U.S. airports, and that about 99 percent of those passengers wait less than 10 minutes. In those lanes, shoes, belts, and light jackets stay on, and laptops, 3-1-1 liquids, and food stay in the bag. That is the screening change the 76.75 fee is buying. It is not a pass that skips screening.
Children 17 and under can accompany an enrolled adult in a TSA PreCheck lane at no extra enrollment cost, according to TSA. They still go through the lane with the adult. If a child turns 18 during the five-year membership window, that person needs a separate application. Plan family trips with that age cutoff in mind.
Backup Enrollment If Those Four October Dates Do Not Work
If October 20 to 23 is already booked, Waterloo still points applicants to IDEMIA’s national network. Complete the same online application and schedule a visit at one of IDEMIA’s 500-plus enrollment centers, starting at TSA enrollment by IDEMIA. TSA also lists CLEAR and Telos as authorized providers, with their own prices and locations, on the same PreCheck page.
IDEMIA in-person renewal is cheaper than a new file: 66.75 in person and 58.75 online, per TSA’s provider table. If you already have a membership that expires before a busy travel season, check whether you are in a renewal window before you pay the 76.75 new-enrollment rate at Waterloo. The airport event is built for new and renewing applicants, but the fee at the table follows the product you actually select.
TSA also warns that no traveler is guaranteed expedited screening on every flight. Unpredictable extra checks still happen. A Known Traveler Number is the way to be eligible for the dedicated lane, not a contract that the lane will be open and unstaffed of extra screening on a given morning.
American Airlines Passengers Using ALO This Fall
Waterloo Regional Airport is a non-hub commercial field served by American Airlines, with the airport directing passengers to American at 1-800-433-7300 or aa.com. The October enrollment does not change that route map. It only changes how you move through security once the Known Traveler Number is on the ticket. For bag rules on the Chicago connection, use Deep Arrival’s American Airlines checked-bag size and weight guide.
The same airport closed all aircraft operations from September 8 through September 22, 2026, for runway work, as Deep Arrival reported in the September 8 to 22 closure briefing. The TSA event sits after that construction window. Do not mix the two calendars: the enrollment dates are October 20 to 23, not the September runway shutdown.
If you still need to rebook a September ticket, handle that with American first. The PreCheck appointment is a separate errand for later trips. Putting a Known Traveler Number on a cancelled September reservation does not restore a flight that did not operate during the closure.
| If you… | What to do |
|---|---|
| Can reach 2790 Livingston Lane on October 20, 21, 22, or 23 | Finish the IDEMIA application online, then go during 9 a.m. to noon or 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. with documents and 76.75. |
| Cannot use those four days | Schedule a different IDEMIA, CLEAR, or Telos center from the TSA provider list instead of waiting for another Waterloo pop-up. |
| Already hold TSA PreCheck | Check the expiration date. Use IDEMIA renewal pricing if you qualify, rather than paying the 76.75 new-file rate. |
| Have an American ticket out of ALO after approval | Add the Known Traveler Number to the American profile and the reservation, then confirm the indicator on the boarding pass. |
October 20 is the first local enrollment day. Have the online application finished before that morning block opens at 9 a.m.
October 23 at 5 p.m. is the last Waterloo slot in this notice. After that, use a national enrollment center.
Three to five days after the appointment is the usual KTN window. Do not count on PreCheck for a flight inside that lag unless the number is already in the reservation.
