Royal Caribbean has emailed some guests booked on Voyager of the Seas’ September 4, 2026, Alaska cruise from Seattle with a voluntary way out. The offer is not a cancellation notice.
According to Cruise Hive, which obtained the guest email, travelers can apply by September 1 to transfer into select 2027 Voyager Alaska sailings or cancel for a full refund plus a 150 percent future cruise credit. Anyone who ignores the email stays on the September 4 sailing.

The sailing remains on public calendars as a seven-night Seattle round trip calling at Juneau, Skagway, Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier scenic cruising, and Victoria before returning September 11. Independent schedule listings such as CruiseTimetables still show that September 4 Alaska Adventure itinerary with a 4 p.m. Seattle departure.
Royal Caribbean has not posted a public press release explaining the email, and Cruise Hive notes the line did not confirm whether the sailing is oversold. Treat the guest message as the load-bearing source for the offer terms, and treat the public schedule as confirmation that the sailing itself still exists.

Option one: move into a 2027 Voyager Alaska sailing
Cruise Hive says guests who accept a transfer can move onto one of three similar seven-night Voyager of the Seas Alaska sailings from Seattle in 2027. Two of those replacements, departing August 27 and September 3, 2027, match the September 4, 2026 destination set of Juneau, Skagway, Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier, and Victoria.
The third alternative, departing September 10, 2027, swaps Endicott Arm for Sitka while keeping Juneau, Skagway, and Victoria. That is the option if you want a Sitka street day more than glacier scenic cruising.
Selected transfer guests would receive a 100 percent refund of cruise fare paid, excluding taxes and amenities, plus $200 in non-refundable onboard credit per stateroom. Cruise Hive also reports reimbursement for non-refundable prepaid travel expenses such as hotels and flights.
In practical terms, a selected transfer guest gets a free replacement cruise in a similar category about a year later, plus spending money onboard. The tradeoff is calendar risk. You give up a 2026 Alaska week for a 2027 week that may conflict with school, work, or other bookings.
Only guests Royal Caribbean selects from the applicant pool receive the transfer package. Applying does not guarantee acceptance.
Option two: cancel for refund plus 150 percent credit
The cancel path is more aggressive on paper. Cruise Hive reports a full refund of the current booking, reimbursement for non-refundable travel expenses, and a future cruise credit equal to 150 percent of the cruise fare paid.
That credit can be applied to any Royal Caribbean sailing departing by September 4, 2027. For guests who already wanted a different ship, a Caribbean week, or an earlier 2027 Alaska date on another vessel, the 150 percent credit can beat the transfer option.
Run the math before you chase the larger credit. A transfer keeps you on Voyager Alaska with similar ports and adds $200 onboard. A cancel refund frees cash and credit, but you must rebuild the vacation yourself before the credit expires.
If your cabin was booked with a prior future cruise credit, ask Royal Caribbean how the new certificate replaces or stacks with the old one. The guest email language quoted by Cruise Hive focuses on fare paid and does not spell out every certificate edge case.
Deadline, selection, and what happens if you do nothing
The application window closes September 1, 2026. Cruise Hive says successful applicants are contacted by phone or email, and anyone who has not heard by September 2 remains in the existing stateroom.
That timeline matters for prepaid airfare and hotels. If you might accept a transfer or cancel path, pause nonrefundable add-ons until you know whether Royal Caribbean selected you.

This September 4 package is richer on the cancel side at 150 percent future cruise credit, and it pushes replacement sailings into 2027 instead of later 2026 Alaska weeks. That is a different traveler decision than the June window.
Cruise Hive also notes earlier summer emails tied to June 19 and July 17 Voyager sailings. Repeated volunteer asks on the same ship do not prove every sailing is oversold, and Royal Caribbean has not confirmed the cause for September 4.

Three concrete checks before you reply
First, open the Royal Caribbean email and screenshot the exact options, deadlines, and reimbursement language. Do not rely on a social media paraphrase when money and cabin category are at stake.
Second, price your prepaid flights and hotels. If those tickets are refundable, a cancel path is easier. If they are not, the reported reimbursement language becomes part of the value, but only if you can document the costs Royal Caribbean will accept.
