Schönhagen airfield, south of Berlin, photographed in May 2023. This historical view shows the planned destination, not VINI’s October 2026 launch.
VINI’s new Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden to Berlin connection is scheduled to begin on October 19, 2026, according to Baden-Airpark’s current seasonal timetable notice. The destination is Schönhagen/Trebbin, south of Berlin, with a shuttle to Berlin-Mitte included in the ticket price, rather than a flight into Berlin Brandenburg Airport.
The service gives travelers a new option for a Baden to Berlin trip, but choosing the correct arrival airport and confirming the shuttle are essential before booking onward transport. Use our airline travel guides alongside the airport’s route notice to compare the complete itinerary, not just the roughly 90 minutes in the air.
- Start: October 19, 2026, in Baden-Airpark’s current summer timetable notice.
- Route: Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden to Schönhagen/Trebbin, south of Berlin.
- Transfer: Shuttle to Berlin-Mitte included in the ticket price.
- Initial window: Soft launch in October and November; the winter timetable lists service through December 10.
- Booking: VINI’s website, travel agencies and booking portals; confirm the actual operating carrier and final schedule.
A Berlin Connection That Does Not Use BER
Baden-Airpark’s route announcement identifies Schönhagen/Trebbin as the northern endpoint and describes an included private shuttle to central Berlin. A ticket marketed as a Berlin flight therefore should not be treated as an arrival at Brandenburg Airport, especially when comparing connections, pickups or accommodation near another airport.
For a city visit, the relevant comparison is the time and price to reach the place you actually need in Berlin. For an onward flight from BER, this is not an airport connection sold as the same journey: check the ground transfer separately and leave enough time to reach the other airport and complete that airline’s check-in.
The October 19 Date Is the Current Airport Listing
The launch date needs care because older coverage differs from the current airport schedule. In its September 10 report, t-online described an inaugural flight earlier that month and reported a planned October 9 start; Baden-Airpark now lists October 19 for its seasonal service.
That earlier demonstration flight is not proof that a regular passenger schedule is already running. Travelers should use the date and confirmation on the ticket they are buying, rather than treating either a launch celebration or an older proposed date as a guarantee for their trip.
The airport’s winter timetable notice lists VINI service to Schönhagen through December 10. That is the currently published end of this initial window, not a promise of year-round flights or a confirmed schedule for 2027.
Morning Outbound, Late Afternoon Return
The airport describes a timetable designed to allow day trips as well as longer stays: a 7:30 a.m. departure from Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden and a 5:30 p.m. return departure from Schönhagen. The listed flying time is approximately an hour and a half, before adding the shuttle and the time needed at each airfield.
Those times explain the intended day-trip pattern, but they do not establish that every date has a flight or that a meeting can start immediately after landing. Check both legs, the shuttle meeting point and the latest return check-in requirements before committing to appointments or a nonrefundable overnight stay.
VINI Is the Booking Platform, Not the Operating Airline
VINI’s role also matters when reading the ticket: t-online reports that it arranges flights with licensed partner airlines rather than operating aircraft under its own air operator certificate. The airport describes plans to use appropriately sized Dornier 228 and Dornier 328 aircraft, rather than a large mainline jet, without guaranteeing a particular aircraft for each passenger’s booking.
On its current website, VINI distinguishes confirmed flights that can be booked immediately from demand-led “Make it Fly” requests that need activation. Choose a confirmed departure for a fixed-date trip, and read the confirmation status before treating a route request as a ticketed flight.
| If you… | What to do |
|---|---|
| Need central Berlin | Confirm the included shuttle’s destination and timing with the October 19 onward ticket. |
| Need a connecting flight at BER | Plan a separate ground transfer from Schönhagen; do not assume an airport-to-airport connection. |
| Want a same-day visit | Check both the morning outbound and late afternoon return on your exact date. |
| Are traveling after December 10 | Require a separately confirmed schedule; the airport’s current winter notice stops there. |
October 19 is the published start date. Confirm the actual departure before replacing another travel arrangement.
Schönhagen is the destination check. Align pickups and onward transport with that airfield, not Berlin Brandenburg.
December 10 is the initial timetable boundary. Later service requires its own confirmation rather than an assumption that the soft launch continues.
