KTAR’s report of the Phoenix Business Journal confirmation quotes VAI marketing executive Rian Kirkman saying VAI holds those three roles. The same reporting says the Glendale resort-and-park complex is still about 9 to 12 months from opening.

The material change is ownership and control, not a new opening day. Families cannot buy a 2026 Mattel Adventure Park ticket based on this announcement. They can stop treating Epic Resort Destinations as the party that will finish and run the Glendale park.

VAI also said the resort and the Mattel park are one project. Construction continues on both, according to VAI spokesperson Jenn Joseph in earlier Axios Phoenix reporting that first flagged the operator shift.
