Universal Orlando is hosting a limited-time The Traitors: New Blood bar overlay inside Universal’s Great Movie Escape at CityWalk, with a public start on Saturday, September 12, 2026. Attractions Magazine documented the setup on September 11, including an upstairs lounge dressed in dark green and gold, a cloaked figure, and costume displays tied to host Alan Cumming.
Guests do not need an escape-room reservation to visit the bar, and they do not need theme-park admission to reach CityWalk. That is the useful split for anyone already holding Universal Orlando one-day tickets for a park day, and for visitors who only want a themed drink before the NBC premiere five days later.
- Where: Universal’s Great Movie Escape at Universal CityWalk, 6000 Universal Boulevard, Orlando.
- Start: Saturday, September 12, 2026, as a limited-time overlay. Universal has not posted an end date.
- Access: No escape-room ticket required for the bar. No theme-park ticket required for CityWalk.
- Drinks: The Secret Passage is $20. The Shield, a nonalcoholic option, is $12.50, per Attractions Magazine.
- TV clock: The Traitors: New Blood premieres Thursday, September 17 at 8/7c on NBC.
Great Movie Escape Hosts the Overlay
The bar takeover sits inside a CityWalk venue that already runs two separately ticketed escape rooms, Back to the Future: OUTATIME and Jurassic World: Escape. Universal Orlando’s Great Movie Escape page still describes those paid rooms as a separately ticketed experience that is not valid for theme-park admission. The overlay does not change that ticket rule for the rooms. It adds a walk-in bar layer on top of the same building.
Attractions Magazine reported that theming begins in the downstairs lobby, while the often-overlooked second-floor lounge carries the heavier Scottish-castle look. One display features a tartan costume worn by Cumming and styled by Emmy winner Sam Spector, with signage saying the outfit was inspired by historical Scottish fashion and made in modern distressed denim. Universal had not published a matching press note on the overlay when this story was reported.
CityWalk Access Without a Park or Escape Ticket
The access rule that matters is simple. CityWalk is the resort’s outdoor dining and entertainment district, not a gated park. Great Movie Escape’s bars have long been reachable without an escape-room booking, and Attractions Magazine says that remains true for the Traitors overlay. You can park, walk in, and use the bar without buying a room time. Alcohol service still follows Florida’s 21-and-older ID rule.
Universal’s published CityWalk hours policy is the other gate. Guests under 18 without theme-park admission must leave CityWalk at 8 p.m. unless they are with a parent or guardian who is 21 or older, staying at a Universal hotel, holding a CityWalk restaurant reservation, or holding tickets for Hollywood Drive-In Golf or Great Movie Escape.
A bar-only visit does not automatically equal an escape-room ticket. If you are bringing teens after 8 p.m., confirm which exception you actually hold before you go. For arrival logistics, use the Universal Orlando parking guide rather than assuming garage rules from a previous trip.
Drink Prices and What Universal Has Not Posted
Attractions Magazine listed themed cocktails named The Maven, A Murder in Plain Sight, and The Secret Passage, plus a nonalcoholic drink called The Shield. The Secret Passage uses Woodford Reserve bourbon, agave syrup, and bitters for $20. The Shield combines apple juice, lemon juice, hibiscus syrup, and club soda for $12.50. Some items are similar to drinks that were already on the Great Movie Escape bar list, according to that report.
Treat those prices as the reporter’s Friday menu read, not a locked Universal rate card. Universal’s published Great Movie Escape bar menu still listed the venue’s regular cinema-themed cocktails when checked on September 12 and did not yet name the Traitors drinks. Ask at the bar before you budget a round, and do not assume every listed cocktail is available on both floors. Universal has also not stated whether the overlay is nights-only, all-day, or tied to Halloween Horror Nights crowds in CityWalk.
The September 17 Premiere Is the Public Clock
NBC lists The Traitors: New Blood as premiering Thursday, September 17 at 8/7c, with Alan Cumming hosting 22 everyday Americans in the show’s castle format. Attractions Magazine says episodes stream on Peacock the following day. That five-day gap between the CityWalk overlay and the broadcast is the only public calendar Universal’s partner network has locked. It is a reason to go this weekend if you want the set dressing before the first episode airs, not proof the bar vanishes on premiere night.
No end date has been posted. Halloween Horror Nights 35 is already running on select nights at Universal Studios Florida, which makes CityWalk evenings busier than a typical September weeknight. The overlay is not an HHN house and does not need an HHN ticket. If your night already includes the event, keep the Halloween Horror Nights map for park routing and treat the Traitors bar as a CityWalk add-on before or after the walls.
| If you… | What to do |
|---|---|
| Only want the Traitors bar | Enter Great Movie Escape at CityWalk from September 12. Skip park and escape tickets. |
| Want the bar plus an escape room | Book a Great Movie Escape room on Universal’s site, then use the bar separately. |
| Already have a park day | Finish the parks, then walk to CityWalk. The bar does not need park admission. |
