What Oriental Land locked on August 13

In an official August 13 release, Oriental Land named three Tomorrowland pieces at once. Sugar Rush Sweet Rescue is the first new ride. Space Mountain Earthrise and Tomorrowland Plaza follow later in 2027.

The company says the land is getting two new attractions plus shops and food, with a total investment of 100 billion yen. That figure covers the wider Tomorrowland rebuild, not a single ride ticket.

The names matter because the construction zone is no longer anonymous. Visitors can now ask a booking question with a ride title instead of pointing at a fenced white dome.

Oriental Land dated the release at 11:24 a.m. Japan time on August 13, 2026. The text is current as of that posting and can still change.

Theme Park Insider independently recapped the same name lock the same day. It also reported that Sugar Rush will occupy the former Buzz Lightyear interactive dark ride, a conversion Oriental Land did not spell out in the name announcement.

Treat the Buzz Lightyear detail as specialist reporting until Tokyo Disney Resort restates it on a guest page. The official lock is the three names and the two 2027 windows.

Why Sugar Rush Sweet Rescue comes first

Sugar Rush Sweet Rescue is dated for spring 2027. Oriental Land says it is the first Disney theme park attraction based on the film Wreck-It Ralph.

Guests enter the Sugar Rush racing game and help Ralph and Vanellope stop King Candy’s Sugar Bugs. The ride is an indoor interactive game, not an outdoor coaster.

A shop called Pixel Prism will sit next to the ride.

A popcorn stand called Popping Station will face Tomorrowland Plaza.

That sequence gives 2027 visitors a first usable Tomorrowland product in spring. Earthrise is the later headline, not the first opening.

If a family is booking one Tokyo week in March or April 2027, Sugar Rush is the named ride they can plan around. Earthrise may still be unfinished that month.

The official page does not publish height rules, Lightning Lane or Premier Access status, or a spring opening day. Those details will decide whether the ride is a must-do or a walk-on extra.

Tokyo Disney already moved four rides onto paid Premier Access from September 1, 2026, in a separate paid access change. Do not assume Sugar Rush inherits that list.

What Space Mountain Earthrise actually changes

Earthrise is not a paint job on the old indoor coaster. Oriental Land says the building and the ride system are both new.

The ride still launches guests into a dark indoor space, then uses lights, sound, and onboard audio to sell a trip away from Earth. That onboard audio is new for a Tokyo Disney Resort coaster, and the story is Japan original: Earth rising over the Moon’s rim, the same view astronauts call earthrise.

The sequence the company describes is specific. A vehicle leaves Earth, then moves through staged space effects, then uses vehicle speakers that older Tokyo coasters did not carry. The show building’s white spikes and curved shell are meant to read as orbit and nature rather than the older cone. None of that is a boarding rule, a posted wait, or a ticket product.

Coca-Cola is listed as the Earthrise sponsor.

That is a branding fact, not a traveler price.

Tomorrowland Plaza is the new center of the land. Oriental Land says monuments, night lighting, and a snack counter called Element Express will sit there once the plaza opens with Earthrise.

The official construction photo released with the names shows the white spiked building standing, with an unfinished plaza and fencing in the foreground. It does not show a finished courtyard, a ride vehicle, or Sugar Rush.

How this splits a 2027 Tokyo trip

A 2026 Tokyo visit does not change.

These names do not open a ride this year.

A 2027 visit now has two clocks. Spring is for Sugar Rush. A later 2027 date is for Earthrise.

That is why the question in the headline is not a single calendar square. Oriental Land answered the year and the order. It left the Earthrise month blank. The useful booking sequence is therefore name first, month second, ticket third.

Travelers who already hold 2027 flights should not rebook on the name lock alone. They should decide which ride is the must-do, then wait for a month before moving hotels or park days.

A visitor flying from the United States to ride Space Mountain should not treat a March 2027 Tokyo week as an Earthrise trip. Sugar Rush can justify that week. Earthrise cannot, not on today’s official text.

Do not assume Florida or California will copy the name, story, or audio package. Those parks have their own Space Mountain identities.
