Sun PhuQuoc Airways Opens Daily Kuala Lumpur Flights

Sun PhuQuoc Airways has launched daily nonstop flights between Kuala Lumpur and Phu Quoc, adding a new airline choice for a Malaysia and Vietnam island itinerary. The service began September 1, 2026, with checked baggage, a light meal and beverages included in the airline’s announced fare offering.

The change is an additional carrier on the route, not a claim that travelers previously had no direct way to fly between the two destinations. For passengers choosing a flight now, the useful comparison is the total ticket cost with the services they will actually use, alongside the afternoon departure pattern.

Our airline planning hub covers broader carrier comparisons. On this new Kuala Lumpur service, check the flight direction carefully: the local arrival and departure clocks can make the journey look much shorter than its roughly 95 minute flying time.

At a Glance
  • Launch: September 1, 2026.
  • Frequency: One roundtrip daily.
  • Phu Quoc to Kuala Lumpur: 9G751, 13:45 to 16:20 local time.
  • Kuala Lumpur to Phu Quoc: 9G750, 17:20 to 17:55 local time.
  • Included services: Checked baggage, a light meal and beverages are announced.

The Afternoon Schedule Adds Another Direct Choice

Tourism Malaysia confirmed the inaugural service on September 1, describing a daily link between Phu Quoc and Kuala Lumpur. The government tourism agency welcomed the arrival in Malaysia and identified the service as an additional travel option.

DagangNews independently reported the launch that day, confirming both flight numbers and the approximately 95 minute journey. Its report also includes Malaysia Airports’ assessment that the new airline expands the choice available on this direct route.

For a Kuala Lumpur departure, the published 17:20 to 17:55 times are local to their respective airports. The apparent 35 minute clock difference is not the flight duration. Use the complete itinerary when arranging an airport pickup or deciding how much of the arrival evening to commit.

In the reverse direction, the 13:45 departure reaches Kuala Lumpur at 16:20 local time. That is an afternoon arrival, not proof that a particular onward flight will be a workable connection. Check the connection offered and its conditions before combining separate bookings.

Compare the Included Services With the Final Price

Sun Group’s September 2 announcement describes complimentary checked baggage, a light meal and beverages as part of the new service. It also lists wireless inflight entertainment.

Those inclusions can matter for an island stay with checked luggage. Compare the airline’s actual fare with an alternative after adding the bag and other services you need, rather than assuming a lower first price represents the same product.

The launch notice does not specify a checked baggage weight allowance for this route. Do not import an allowance from a different Sun PhuQuoc route or an older promotion. Confirm the entitlement displayed for your own fare, along with any charges that remain outside it.

No fixed launch fare is established by these announcements. A claim of included baggage is therefore not a claim that this airline will be cheapest on every date, and daily service does not guarantee a seat on the particular departure you want.

Boarding Pass Benefits Need Their Own Conditions Check

The airline owner also promotes benefits across Sun Group attractions and hospitality businesses. Its announcement says eligible passengers presenting a boarding pass can receive a Sun World Hon Thom cable car ticket, WOW Pass priority access there, and savings of up to 30 percent at participating venues.

These are conditional benefits, not a blanket promise of free access or a 30 percent reduction on every hotel stay. Before giving them a monetary value in a flight comparison, check the eligible passenger, venue, travel date and redemption process.

The same announcement introduces a 5GB eSIM offer for eligible international passengers from September 1. It limits issuance to one eSIM per valid passport within a 30 day period, subject to the program’s terms. It does not say a traveler can collect a fresh allowance on every flight.

A New Flight Does Not Replace the Whole Trip Check

The route is already launched, rather than a future network plan awaiting its first departure. However, the published schedule remains the starting point for a dated booking, not a substitute for checking the itinerary returned when purchasing.

Match both directions with the accommodation dates before paying. If combining Kuala Lumpur with a Phu Quoc stay, compare the complete trip cost and ground arrangements. Keep optional attraction or connectivity benefits separate until their terms are confirmed.

Decision Matrix
Your priority Check first
Travel with checked luggage Confirm the weight allowance attached to the selected fare.
Arrive from Kuala Lumpur Use the local 17:55 arrival when planning the evening.
Use boarding pass benefits Verify eligibility and redemption before counting a saving.
Connect to another flight Check the complete connection and ticket conditions.
Planning Impact

For current bookings: Add the new carrier to the comparison, using a bag inclusive total.

For arrival planning: Read local times correctly and treat promotional extras as conditional.
