Southwest Makes Cleveland to Dallas Love Field Flights Year Round

Southwest Airlines will begin nonstop flights between Cleveland Hopkins International Airport and Dallas Love Field earlier than first announced, then make the route a permanent daily service in March 2027. Cleveland Hopkins says the first flights will operate from October 1, 2026, moving the launch forward by more than seven weeks.

The timetable has three distinct operating periods, so travelers need to check the exact date rather than assume the route runs continuously from October onward. Southwest plans six flights each week during October, selected holiday service from November 21 through January 3, and daily year round flights beginning March 11, 2027.

What changed in Southwest’s Cleveland schedule

Cleveland Hopkins confirmed the revised route plan on July 17. The airport says Southwest had originally expected to start on November 21 and operate only through early January, but the airline has now added an October opening period and a permanent schedule next spring.

From October 1 through October 30, the nonstop is scheduled to operate every day except Saturday. The separate holiday period runs from November 21 through January 3, with the airport describing it as selected service around Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s rather than a daily schedule.

The largest change arrives March 11, 2027, when the route becomes daily and year round. That status makes the flight more useful for regular business travel, family visits, and trips that do not fit a short seasonal window, but the live Southwest reservation remains the authority for the exact departure time and fare.

The calendar has gaps travelers should notice

The announcement does not describe uninterrupted service between October 1 and March 11. October has a six day weekly pattern, the late November to early January window has selected holiday flights, and the release does not promise regular service for the periods between those blocks.

That means a traveler considering early November or most of January and February should not build a trip around the nonstop until the desired date appears in Southwest’s booking inventory. Searching by the exact airport codes CLE and DAL is the cleanest way to avoid confusing the route with a connection or another Dallas airport.

Round trips need the same check in both directions. A nonstop may be available outbound but not on the preferred return date during the limited opening periods, so hotels, event tickets, rental cars, and other nonrefundable plans should follow the confirmed air reservation rather than the general announcement.

Dallas Love Field is not Dallas Fort Worth

Dallas Love Field and Dallas Fort Worth International Airport serve the same broad metropolitan area but create different ground travel plans. DAL is the airport attached to the new Southwest route, and travelers should price transportation from Love Field to the actual hotel, office, venue, or connecting station before comparing the nonstop with DFW options.

Dallas Love Field says its Love Link bus connects the airport with the Inwood or Love Field rail station and the DART Green and Orange lines. The airport currently lists the ride from DAL to the rail station as free, while onward DART travel requires a valid fare.

The airport also directs app based ride, taxi, limousine, and peer to peer pickups to the valet pavilion and Garage C Level 1. Accessible pickups remain available on the lower level curb, so passengers who need that arrangement should select or request the accessible option with the provider.

Compare the complete Southwest fare

The nonstop removes a connection, but the useful price is the complete trip total rather than the first fare shown. Southwest’s current fee table says mainland Basic, Choice, and Choice Preferred fares charge 45 dollars for the first checked bag and 55 dollars for the second when the travel is booked or changed on or after April 9, 2026.

Choice Extra includes the first two checked bags, while qualifying status, card, military, and other benefits can change the charge. That flexibility may be less useful during October or the holiday period if the route has only one nonstop on a given day. A passenger could see a connecting alternative instead, and the original airport pair and same travel date still govern eligibility under Southwest’s current rule.

The airline says a requested change must be completed at least 10 minutes before the original scheduled departure, while app and mobile timing rules can require earlier action for the desired flight.

Who gains most from the new route

The nonstop is most compelling for travelers whose trip naturally fits Cleveland Hopkins and Dallas Love Field. It can remove a connection and may shorten the practical day for people heading to central Dallas, but the advantage depends on the operating date, departure time, local transport, fare, and baggage needs.

A DFW flight can still be the better choice when it offers a more useful schedule, lower complete price, easier onward connection, or ground route closer to the final destination. The new service expands the comparison rather than eliminating the need to compare both Dallas airports.

The move to daily year round operation is the most durable traveler benefit in the announcement.
