Southwest Marks 20 Years in Colorado as Denver Service Keeps Growing

As of June 26, 2026, Denver International Airport says Southwest Airlines has now spent 20 years building its Colorado operation. DEN says the carrier has carried more than 290 million passengers on nearly 2.4 million flights through Denver since launching service there in 2006.

The airport says Southwest is now DEN’s second largest carrier and is scheduled for an average of 243 daily departures to 96 destinations in 2026. That turns the anniversary into more than a ceremonial airline birthday, because the network is still growing in practical ways that affect Colorado travelers.
