Attractiepark Slagharen, the Wild West themed park in Overijssel in the eastern Netherlands, opens Western Nightmares on Friday 9 October 2026. The evening event runs on 10 nights through 31 October and is for visitors aged 14 and over, according to the park’s official Halloween page.

The 10 Western Nightmares Evenings
The evenings fall on Fridays, Saturdays and two Wednesdays: Friday 9, Saturday 10, Wednesday 14, Friday 16, Saturday 17, Wednesday 21, Friday 23, Saturday 24, Friday 30 and Saturday 31 October.
After dark the park turns into what it calls a sinister Wild West. German theme park site KirmesParkWorld lists the walkthroughs as open from 18:30 to 22:00.
The two Wednesdays, 14 and 21 October, are the midweek options. They suit visitors who want the event without a weekend crowd.
With the Fear Unbound finale at 22:00, expect to leave the park after that time on every event night. Plan your journey home, or your stay, around a late finish.
What Is New for 2026
Dutch holiday park site Parkvakanties and travel site Elke dag vakantie both list the changes for this year.
Red Bandits Adventure gets a Night Time Edition, which takes visitors into darkened caves. On the Trail of Elements, the new Sky Sifters stand for wind and storm alongside the existing fire and water sections.
The Dark Hour doubles to two hours. Visitors make their way through the fully blacked out Crows Nest with only a lantern, according to Parkvakanties.
Shows and the Afterparty
A new finale, Fear Unbound, closes each evening at 22:00 on the Fonteinplein square, with dark figures and a mysterious chest.
Freaks Carnival: The Show has been reworked with new performers in the American Circustheater. It now has a separate Afterparty in Wild Wings, which KirmesParkWorld dates to 16, 17, 23 and 24 October.
If the Afterparty is the main draw, pick one of those four Friday and Saturday nights. It is a separately ticketed show, so book it alongside your evening ticket.

Scary Prairie for Families
The daytime event, Scary Prairie, runs on 10 October, every day from 12 to 25 October and on 31 October.
The story follows Jackie de Coyote as she searches for her missing magic lollipop. This year the family programme adds a new show in the Music Hall and a new 4D film, Happy Family. Presale day tickets cost 22.40 euros, the park says.
Under 14s cannot join Western Nightmares, so families with younger children should plan around Scary Prairie. On 10 and 31 October, both events run on the same day. For groups with a wide spread of ages, Scary Prairie is the option everyone can join.
Tickets and Extras
Tickets went on sale on 14 September at the park’s Halloween page, according to Elke dag vakantie. The listed evening price of 19.90 euros and day price of 22.40 euros are presale prices.
KirmesParkWorld reports that the Afterparty is sold separately from the evening ticket. Check what your ticket covers before you arrive, especially for the Afterparty nights.
The park also runs a resort next to the attractions. If you are travelling from further away for an evening that ends at 22:00, staying on site avoids a late drive.
Slagharen sits in the Hardenberg area of Overijssel, close to the German border. That puts it within reach of Zwolle and other eastern Dutch cities, and of north western Germany, for an evening trip by car.
