Qantas Adds Premium Economy to Daily Sydney Haneda Flight

Qantas Airbus A330-300 on approach with landing gear down

Qantas will put an Airbus A330-300 leased from Finnair on its Tokyo Haneda to Sydney route from October 25, 2026, and the aircraft brings a Premium Economy cabin. The three-class jet has 279 seats: 28 in Business, 21 in Premium Economy and 230 in Economy, according to TRAICY.

The change applies to flights QF25 and QF26 only, so the Premium Economy decision depends on which of the two daily Sydney to Haneda services you book. For more on airlines and their cabins, start with the Deep Arrival airlines hub.

At a Glance
  • Start date: October 25, 2026.
  • Flights: QF25 (Sydney to Haneda) and QF26 (Haneda to Sydney).
  • Aircraft: Airbus A330-300 leased from Finnair, 279 seats.
  • Cabins: 28 Business, 21 Premium Economy, 230 Economy.
  • Unchanged: QF59 and QF60 keep Qantas’ own A330-300.

Premium Economy Reaches the Haneda Route

AeroRoutes reported in June that, from October 25, QF25 and QF26 would be operated by a three-class 279-seat A330-300 instead of a two-class 291-seat A330-300. TRAICY says Premium Economy is introduced on the same date.

TRAICY says QF59 and QF60 continue with Qantas’ own A330-300. If a Premium Economy seat matters to you, check the flight number before you pay.

Scheduled Times for the Four Daily Flights

AeroRoutes listed these scheduled times for the northern winter season, and they can change, so confirm them on your booking. QF59 departs Sydney at 12:00 and arrives at Haneda at 20:00, while QF25 departs Sydney at 21:30 and arrives at 05:25 the next day.

On the return, QF26 leaves Haneda at 06:55 and reaches Sydney at 18:55. QF60 leaves Haneda at 22:00 and lands in Sydney at 10:00 the next day.

A Finnair Aircraft in Qantas Colors

TRAICY says Qantas has leased Finnair A330-300 aircraft since 2023. They started as a wet lease with Finnair aircraft and crew and now operate as dry-leased aircraft flown by Qantas crews.

Those aircraft already fly Qantas routes from Sydney to Singapore, Honolulu and Manila, so Haneda joins an existing group of routes. AeroRoutes also scheduled the same 279-seat A330-300 on some Sydney to Honolulu and Sydney to Singapore flights this northern winter.

The 21 Premium Economy Seats in Context

The Australian Frequent Flyer list of Qantas Premium Economy routes shows Sydney to Haneda on QF25 and QF26 with an A330 starting October 25, 2026. That matches the dates above and gives travelers a second place to check.

Premium Economy sits between Business and Economy in price and comfort, and 21 seats is a small cabin. Expect it to sell out on busy dates, so book early if you want it.

Haneda Is the Closer Tokyo Airport

Point Hacks notes that Haneda is the closer of Tokyo’s two major airports to the city, and that QF25 and QF59 have been Qantas’ only Sydney flights into it since November 2023. The same guide says Qantas’ Brisbane and Melbourne services landed at Narita, so check the airport on any other Tokyo booking.

The A330 swap therefore touches the Qantas flights that give Sydney travelers the shorter ride into central Tokyo, which is a useful tie-breaker when you compare fares. It also arrives as the northern winter schedule begins, which is when airlines commonly reshuffle aircraft across their networks.

What Is Still Unclear

The reports we read do not give seat layouts for the leased A330-300 or say how Premium Economy will be priced on this route. They also do not say whether Qantas will keep the leased aircraft on QF25 and QF26 beyond the northern winter schedule.

Check seat maps on Qantas.com for your exact flight. Aircraft can be swapped at short notice, so do not assume the cabin you booked is guaranteed on every date.

Decision Matrix
If you… What to do
Want Premium Economy between Sydney and Haneda Book QF25 or QF26 on or after October 25, 2026, and confirm the aircraft on your booking.
Are booked on QF59 or QF60 Expect Qantas’ own A330-300, which the reports describe as unchanged.
Prefer a daytime Sydney departure Look at QF59, scheduled at 12:00 in AeroRoutes’ listing.
Need exact seat layout details Check the seat map on Qantas.com, because the reports do not publish one.
Planning Impact

October 25, 2026 is the switch date. Flights from that date on QF25 and QF26 use the leased three-class A330-300.

Before booking, check the flight number. Only one of the two daily Sydney to Haneda services gets the new cabin layout.

Closer to departure, recheck your aircraft. Airlines can swap aircraft, and the schedule times come from a June filing report.
