Princess Cruises Moves 2027 Final Payment to 120 Days

Princess Cruises is moving final payment to 120 days before departure for new bookings that sail in 2027 and later.

The change takes effect on Sept. 2, 2026. If you are still shopping a 2027 Princess sailing, treat that date as a cash-flow deadline, not a footnote on a policy page.

What Princess confirmed

In a statement to Fox News Digital, Princess said it is implementing a 120-day final payment and a modified cancellation fee schedule for new bookings on sailings that depart in 2027 and beyond.

The line said the change is meant to make the booking process more consistent and to match broader industry practice.

Fox News reported that the new rules take effect Sept. 2 for new bookings on sailings departing Jan. 1, 2027, or later.

Princess also told Fox News that reservations will automatically cancel if final payment is not received by the due date. Payment reminders will still go out before that deadline.

What the live policy page still shows

The public Princess cancellation and refund page has not been rewritten into a single 120-day rule for every sailing.

As of Aug. 13, 2026, that page still splits the clock by length. Sailings of 1 to 13 days, including World Cruise or Circle Pacific segments of that length, still list final payment 90 days before departure.

Sailings of 14 days or longer already list final payment 120 days before departure. The longer tables also already use 120-day fee bands.

That split is why a shopper can open the official page today and still see a 90-day clock on a typical weeklong Caribbean or Mexico sailing. The Sept. 2 change is about new 2027 bookings, not a claim that every live 2026 reservation just jumped to 120 days.

The same official page tells booked guests to use the terms in their confirmation email. Do not treat today’s 90-day row as a promise that a Sept. 3 booking for a seven-night 2027 cruise will keep that clock.

Who is in and who is out

The new 120-day clock applies to new bookings made on or after Sept. 2, 2026, for sailings that leave on or after Jan. 1, 2027. Both dates have to be true.

A 2026 sailing booked after Sept. 2 is not automatically in that class. A 2027 sailing already on the books before Sept. 2 should keep the terms in its confirmation unless Princess later says otherwise in writing on that reservation.

Fox News said the 120-day rule applies to all voyage lengths, including World Cruise and Circle Pacific segments. That is the material shift for short sailings. Longer Princess voyages already lived on a 120-day public clock.

The new deposit numbers and cash calendar

Fox News reported that Princess is also raising standard deposits. On seven-day cruises, inside, oceanview, balcony, and mini-suite deposits move from $250 to $300 per person. Suite deposits move from $500 to $600 per person.

Those figures matter on the same day as the 120-day clock because they change the first check, not only the last one.

A couple booking a 2027 balcony after Sept. 2 should budget $600 at hold instead of $500, then finish the fare 120 days before sailing instead of 90 days on a short cruise. That is $100 more at the start and a full extra month of paid-in-full risk at the end.

The extra 30 days is the part that hits payment-plan shoppers hardest. On a seven-night January 2027 sailing, a 90-day clock would have left final payment in early October 2026. A 120-day clock pulls that same balance into early September 2026, right as the new booking rule itself takes effect.

That is not an abstract policy tweak. It is a calendar collision for anyone who likes to hold a cabin with a small deposit and finish paying after holiday cash arrives.

How to check a booking before Sept. 2

Open the confirmation email first. The official Princess page says that document, not the public chart, carries the cancellation schedule and final payment date that apply to a booking already made.

Then write down three dates: the day you booked, the day the ship leaves, and the printed final payment date. If the booking is already in hand before Sept. 2, those three dates are the working file until Princess changes that reservation in writing.
