Paris T9 Strike: Nine Bus Routes Canceled for Thursday

A Paris-area bus and tram strike will leave nine bus routes without service in the transport plan for Thursday, September 10, including the N31 overnight connection to Orly Airport. T9 is not shutting down: the same official plan forecasts nine trams in ten, while other bus routes face varying reductions.

The action also covers Friday, September 11, but Thursday’s service plan should not be copied onto Friday. Travelers combining city transport with an airport journey should also distinguish this strike from the separate RER B works beginning late September 11; the two notices concern different services and operating windows.

All departure times and overnight date boundaries below use local Paris time.

At a Glance
  • Strike dates: Thursday, September 10, and Friday, September 11, 2026.
  • Scope: T9 and 28 listed bus routes, not the entire Paris transport network.
  • Thursday daytime routes with no service: 25, 27, 62 and 91.
  • Overnight routes with no service: N14, N21, N22, N23 and N31, for the night of September 9 into September 10.
  • T9 forecast: Nine trams in ten; Friday requires its own dated plan.

Four Daytime Bus Routes Have No Thursday Service

The Île-de-France Mobilités strike notice, published September 8, identifies the affected network and links to the specific Thursday transport plan. The four daytime routes listed with no service are 25, 27, 62 and 91, so passengers using those routes need an alternative rather than simply allowing for a longer wait.

Those routes include connections from Bibliothèque François Mitterrand toward Vitry-sur-Seine, from Saint-Lazare toward Porte d’Ivry, and between Porte de Saint-Cloud and Porte de France. Route 91 also appears in the no-service group, making a saved itinerary that depends on it unsuitable for Thursday even if the journey planner’s ordinary timetable looks familiar.

For the remaining routes, the forecast is more varied than an all-or-nothing strike headline suggests. The official September 10 service-plan PDF puts routes 47, 83, 132, 162, 180 and 325 at one bus in two, while other services have higher planned operating levels.

These proportions describe the forecast service offer, not a promise that every second departure on the usual timetable will run. A traveler should check the actual departure information for the relevant stop and direction before relying on a connection, especially where a missed bus would also mean missing a reserved train or appointment.

The Orly Night Bus Gap Starts Before Thursday Morning

The PDF explicitly says its night-service changes apply from Wednesday, September 9, into Thursday, September 10. That timing matters for someone leaving a hotel after midnight or trying to reach an early flight: the affected overnight journey belongs to this plan even though the previous evening began on Wednesday.

N31, the listed Gare de Lyon to Orly 4 connection, has no service in that overnight plan. The same applies to N14 between Saint-Ouen and Antony, N21 from Châtelet toward Longjumeau, N22 from Châtelet toward Juvisy and N23 from Châtelet toward Chelles, a set of gaps extending beyond central Paris.

This does not mean every public transport connection to Orly is canceled or that the airport is closed. It means the specified N31 night-bus option cannot be the basis of that journey, so travelers need to verify another actual service or arrange a separate transfer suited to their required airport arrival time.

The notice does not promise a replacement bus, a taxi payment or a guaranteed travel time for an alternative. If a party has luggage, mobility requirements or an early check-in deadline, resolve those details before leaving the accommodation rather than arriving at the usual night-bus stop and expecting a substitute to appear.

T9 and Two Night Routes Still Have Planned Service

T9, between Paris Porte de Choisy and Orly Gaston Viens, is forecast to run nine trams in ten on Thursday. That is materially different from a complete tram closure, but it remains a reduced-service plan and does not establish the waiting time for a particular passenger at a particular stop.

The Orly name also requires care: the T9 terminus identified in this notice is Orly Gaston Viens, while the N31 destination is Orly Airport Terminal 4. Treating those as interchangeable endpoints could leave a traveler short of the terminal, even when the tram is operating and the airport-bound night bus is not.

N15 and N24 are not in the no-service group. Their overnight rows list specific departures instead: the N24 plan includes Châtelet departures from 12:30 a.m. through 5 a.m., while N15 lists departures from Asnières Gabriel Péri and Villejuif Louis Aragon, with different times for each direction.

Use the official table for the exact boarding point and departure, since some listed trips begin partway along a route. A bus leaving a terminus at a published time does not reach every intermediate stop at that moment, and a departure in one direction cannot be substituted for the corresponding return without checking.

Friday Needs a New Plan, Not Thursday’s Percentages

The general notice covers both September 10 and 11, but the linked forecast discussed here is labeled for Thursday alone. Île-de-France Mobilités says details are communicated the previous day from 5 p.m., making Thursday evening’s dated information the relevant check for Friday travel rather than a repeated screenshot of Thursday’s plan.

La Clé Publique’s September 9 report independently identifies T9 and 28 bus routes within the strike’s scope and emphasizes that being listed as potentially affected is not itself a cancellation announcement. The later Thursday plan supplies specific operating levels; it does not settle the second strike day’s service.

The distinction also applies to overnight travel from Thursday into Friday. The PDF’s explicit Wednesday-to-Thursday footnote cannot support a claim that N31, N24 or another night route will have exactly the same arrangement the following night. Check the appropriate Friday notice before choosing a late return or early airport transfer.

Rebuild the Whole Connection Before Setting Out

Start with the route number, direction and date in the saved itinerary, then replace only the legs that actually fail the current service check. A working tram does not rescue a trip if its connecting bus has no service, while a strike on this network does not justify abandoning unrelated trains without evidence.

For a round trip, check the return as carefully as the outward journey, particularly when it crosses midnight or reaches Friday. The daytime reduction, the overnight departure list and the next day’s yet-to-be-checked plan are separate pieces of information, and they can lead to different choices even for the same pair of locations.

Decision Matrix
If You… What to Do
Need bus 25, 27, 62 or 91 on Thursday Choose a verified alternative; the plan lists no service.
Need N31 for an early September 10 Orly flight Arrange another confirmed terminal transfer before leaving the hotel.
Use T9 or a reduced daytime bus Check actual departures; the forecast proportion is not a stop timetable.
Travel Friday or overnight into Friday Use the new dated plan, not Thursday’s daytime or night figures.
Planning Impact

Night of September 9 into September 10: Five listed night routes have no service, including N31 to Orly 4.

September 10 daytime and evening: Check Thursday departures, then the Friday forecast from the authority’s announced previous-day update window.
