Norwegian Cruise Line ship Norwegian Escape with its hull art arriving at Port Canaveral, Florida

Norwegian Escape is heading into a drydock in Europe and will then sail a 16-night crossing from Barcelona to Port Canaveral that leaves Wednesday, October 28, 2026 and arrives Friday, November 13. According to Cruise Industry News, the ship then starts a winter of seven-night Eastern Caribbean cruises from Central Florida.

If you are weighing the crossing, our Norwegian Escape ship guide shows what you would be sailing on. Here is the full sequence, from the maintenance gap to the first Port Canaveral sailing.

At a Glance
  • Drydock: about 16 days out of service in Europe after the ship reaches Barcelona, with no guests on board.
  • Crossing: 16 nights from Barcelona to Port Canaveral, Wednesday, October 28 to Friday, November 13, 2026.
  • Ports: Marseille, Palma de Mallorca, Cartagena, Motril, Cadiz, Tangier and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
  • Then: seven-night Eastern Caribbean cruises from Port Canaveral from mid-November.
  • Fares seen: inside cabins from 599 euros per person on September 25, which can change.

Fall Repositioning From New York to Spain

Norwegian Escape left its North American service in late September on a 16-night crossing from New York to Barcelona. A planned call at Sydney had to be cancelled because of weather, so the ship went to Halifax and then the Azores.

The ship was due at Ponta Delgada in early October, then Gibraltar, Melilla, Ibiza and Palma de Mallorca before ending the crossing in Barcelona. From there it sails to a European shipyard without passengers for routine maintenance and updates.

The October 28 Crossing in Detail

The return crossing sails Wednesday, October 28, and the sailing data service Cruise Watch lists the arrival at Port Canaveral on Friday, November 13. Cruise Industry News names the calls as Marseille, Palma de Mallorca, Cartagena, Motril, Cadiz, Tangier and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

The route mixes Mediterranean and North African calls with an Atlantic leg at the end. Check the line’s final itinerary for exact arrival and departure times before you book flights or excursions.

What the Crossing Costs

The travel site Travel-Dealz listed the sailing on September 25 from 599 euros per person for an inside cabin, 712 euros for an oceanview, 829 euros for a balcony and 929 euros for a solo inside cabin. Those are per person on double occupancy and may have moved since.

The same listing says the Free at Sea add-on costs between 99 and 669 euros per person depending on the length of the cruise. It also notes a crew appreciation fee of 20 US dollars per person each day that the line adds to the onboard account.

Winter From Port Canaveral

The Escape reaches Port Canaveral in mid-November to begin a series of seven-night Eastern Caribbean cruises. They visit St. Thomas, Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic, Tortola in the British Virgin Islands and Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas.

Cruise Industry News reports that the ship will keep sailing from Port Canaveral through November 2027 before it repositions to Galveston for 2027 and 2028. Anyone planning a Florida departure this winter has the ship for a full year.

The Earlier Delay and the Open Questions

The ship’s New York departure was already late once this season, which we covered in our report on the Norwegian Escape New York delay. The Atlantic crossing took the ship to Europe, and the drydock follows it.

Norwegian Cruise Line has not been quoted in the coverage we read about what work the shipyard stay includes or which yard it is. Treat the 16 days as the line’s plan, as reported by the trade press, rather than a guaranteed schedule.

Decision Matrix
If you… What to do
Want to reach Florida by ship Look at the Wednesday, October 28 crossing, which arrives Friday, November 13.
Need fixed port times Wait for the line’s final schedule, since the ship is leaving a shipyard stay first.
Plan a winter Caribbean cruise Book a seven-night sailing from Port Canaveral, which the ship offers from mid-November.
Care about the price Compare the current fare with the 599 euro inside price seen on September 25.
Planning Impact

Early October is the Azores stage. The ship was due at Ponta Delgada before it moves on to Spain.

Wednesday, October 28 is the crossing date. Book flights to Barcelona with that sailing in mind, since the ship leaves from Spain.
