Motto by Hilton Opens First Brazil Hotel in Recife

Hilton has opened a new way to stay in Recife’s historic core. Motto by Hilton Recife Antigo is now welcoming guests as the first Motto hotel in Brazil and Hilton’s first hotel in Recife.

The 132-room lifestyle property sits two blocks from Marco Zero in Recife Antigo, the canal-lined district that locals and visitors treat as the city’s cultural front door. For travelers building a Northeast Brazil trip, that location matters more than another beach tower farther south.

What Hilton confirmed about the opening

In a Hilton newsroom release, the company said Motto by Hilton Recife Antigo marks Motto’s Brazil debut and Hilton’s entry into Recife. The hotel was developed with REVPAR Incorporações, MUV Empreendimentos, and Atlantica Hospitality International.

Hotel Designs reported the same opening facts and framed the project as a lifestyle-brand entry into one of Brazil’s most distinctive coastal cities. Both accounts emphasize design tied to Pernambuco’s interior and sea landscapes rather than a generic resort template.

Hilton also placed the hotel inside a broader Brazil growth story. The release said Hilton already welcomes guests at more than 25 hotels in Brazil and plans nearly 30 more, while the Caribbean and Latin America portfolio sits near 300 open hotels with more than 160 in development.

Why Recife Antigo is the point of the stay

Recife is often nicknamed the Venice of Brazil for its bridges, waterways, and colonial street grid. Motto’s bet is that the historic center, not only Boa Viagem Beach, should be the launchpad for that visit.

From Recife Antigo, guests can walk cultural blocks around Marco Zero, then use the hotel as a base for Boa Viagem Beach and wider Pernambuco day trips. That pattern is different from an isolated beach resort stay where the hotel is the destination and the city is an optional transfer.

According to Hilton, the rooftop restaurant serves daily breakfast with sea or river views, while a ground-floor coffee shop is open to guests and neighborhood visitors. The company describes both as part of the local scene rather than sealed hotel amenities.

The opening does not invent Recife, but it does change the Hilton map there. Travelers who want a branded lifestyle hotel beside the historic center now have a concrete bookable option instead of only beach-corridor inventory.
