Magic Kingdom Moves Early Entry to 7:30 AM for August 7

Magic Kingdom will open one hour earlier than first listed on Friday, August 7, changing the start of the day for guests visiting on the first Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party date of 2026. The official park calendar now lists regular hours from 8 AM to 6 PM, which places Early Theme Park Entry from 7:30 AM to 8 AM for eligible resort guests.

The adjustment gives day guests more morning time, but it does not change the 6 PM closing or add nighttime entertainment to the regular admission day. Travelers now need to decide whether the earlier start offsets the shorter evening, then build transportation and breakfast around an arrival that may be well before 7:30 AM.

What Disney changed for August 7

Disney’s live hours and events calendar is the controlling source for the operating day. The August 7 listing now places Magic Kingdom’s regular opening at 8 AM, one hour earlier than the initial 9 AM schedule reported before the latest calendar update.

Early Theme Park Entry remains a 30 minute benefit, so the earlier public opening moves that window to 7:30 AM. The change does not turn August 7 into a longer operating day overall because regular guests still need to leave when the park closes at 6 PM for the separately ticketed evening event.

The date matters because it begins the 2026 Halloween party season. Disney’s official party page lists August 7 as the first event night, with the party running from 7 PM to midnight and ticket holders allowed to enter Magic Kingdom from 4 PM.

That creates an overlap late in the regular day, when arriving party guests join day visitors before the 6 PM close. The added morning hour is therefore most valuable to travelers who can arrive early enough to use it, not to guests who plan a relaxed late start.

Who can use the 7:30 AM window

Early Theme Park Entry is not available to every day ticket holder. Disney describes it as a benefit for registered guests at Disney Resort hotels and certain other participating hotels, and each person also needs valid admission for Magic Kingdom on the date of the visit.

Travelers should confirm that their exact hotel participates rather than relying on a broad Orlando resort label. They should also make sure every guest who plans to enter early appears on the reservation and has the required admission linked in the same travel party.

An 8 AM regular opening does not mean a 7:30 AM hotel departure. Security, transportation, walking, entry scans, and the move toward the first attraction all take time, so a group trying to use the whole benefit should plan to reach the entrance before Early Entry begins.

The practical departure time depends on the hotel and transportation choice. A Disney bus can avoid parking and the Transportation and Ticket Center transfer, while guests driving to Magic Kingdom still need to park and use the monorail or ferry before reaching the park entrance.

Why the shorter party day can still work

A 6 PM closing removes Happily Ever After and the normal evening presentation of Disney Starlight from the regular day. Guests who choose August 7 for lower daytime demand should understand that the trade is earlier access and a compressed day instead of a complete morning through fireworks schedule.

That pattern is useful context, but it is not a guarantee of low waits on every attraction or at every hour.

Build the morning around a realistic arrival

The simplest plan begins the night before. Pack the park bag, set out admission media, confirm the transportation start time, and choose the first eligible attraction so the group is not making its most important decisions at the entrance.

Early Entry normally covers selected attractions in Fantasyland and Tomorrowland, but ride availability can change. Guests should use the My Disney Experience app on the morning of the visit and avoid treating any single attraction as guaranteed at 7:30 AM.

Breakfast also deserves an explicit choice. A table meal before the park can consume much of the early advantage, while a quick hotel meal or portable breakfast may better fit a group whose main reason for choosing August 7 is the added morning time.

Heat is another reason to protect the earlier hours. August afternoons can be demanding, so completing priority attractions before midday can leave more flexibility for an indoor meal, a hotel break, or lower intensity experiences before day guests exit at 6 PM.

The evening event remains a separate decision

A standard Magic Kingdom ticket for August 7 does not include Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. Disney says the party requires separate admission, begins at 7 PM, and permits party ticket holders to enter from 4 PM without buying a separate daytime park ticket.

Guests holding both forms of admission can remain for the event after the transition process, subject to Disney’s check in procedures. Day guests without party admission should not plan dinner, shopping, or transportation around staying inside Magic Kingdom after the regular close.
