LEGOLAND New York LEGO Festival Starts July 20 With Passholder Preview

LEGOLAND New York Resort will start its 2026 LEGO Festival on Monday, July 20, giving families a four week park program built around five interactive play zones, live entertainment, character encounters, building challenges, and a new LEGO Pokemon experience. The event runs through Sunday, August 16 and is included with eligible park admission and passes.

The most immediate decision belongs to passholders. LEGOLAND New York says the park will open at 9 am on July 20 for a one hour passholder preview of selected festival experiences, including the new LEGO Pokemon Trainer Center, before the regular event day begins.

What changes at the park on July 20

The official LEGOLAND New York event page confirms a daily festival framework rather than a single performance or one night ticket. Families can move among five zones while still using the park’s regular rides, attractions, shows, water playground, and dining during operating hours.

That distinction matters for trip planning. Guests do not need to choose between a normal LEGOLAND day and a separate festival session, but they do need to decide how much of the day to give to scheduled shows, interactive builds, and limited capacity activities that may draw lines after opening.

LEGOLAND lists festival admission as included with eligible tickets and passes. As of July 16, the event page advertised advance tickets from $49 per person compared with a stated $99 front gate price, while a hotel package was advertised from $194 per person per night.

The Play Zone adds a new Pokemon decision

The Play Zone will introduce the LEGO Pokemon Trainer Center, where guests can interact with five Pokemon through the new SMART Play system. The park describes a journey that includes nurturing, training, and battling, with activities designed to be active, social, and screen free.

Patch independently reported that visitors will be able to build a Pokemon snack, add a SMART tag, build and display a LEGO Poke Ball, and see a giant LEGO Pikachu model. The local report also says families will see the SMART Play system before related products reach stores in August.

Because this is the new headline experience and the July 20 passholder preview names it specifically, families who place Pokemon first should start there. The park has not published a guaranteed daily capacity or a reservation method for the Trainer Center, so an early arrival is more defensible than assuming it will remain equally accessible late in the day.

The other four zones spread activity across the day

The Music Zone combines stage entertainment, character appearances, and audience participation. LEGOLAND promotes a festival band, live shows, and music based building activities, which means families should check the current show board on arrival before setting a ride order.

The Creative Zone centers on guided and independent brick building. The Chill Out Zone offers a quieter garden setting with sensory play and smaller activities, giving families a useful reset between louder shows, rides, and the busier headline areas.

The Thrill Zone brings a Formula 1 theme to the festival. Guests can design, build, and test a LEGO car, take part in a timed pit stop style challenge, and use themed photo locations.

These activities are separate from the regular ride lineup and may require more time than a quick walk through.

Across the festival, the 3 Build Challenge encourages guests to complete three building activities and collect stamps before redeeming a reward. The event page describes a free festival wristband and a 3 in 1 LEGO Creator reward, but redemption remains subject to the current operating process and available supply.

Passholders have the clearest opening day advantage

The official passholder benefits page says LEGOLAND New York will open at 9 am on July 20 for an hour long preview. It identifies selected festival experiences and the Pokemon Trainer Center, making this an access benefit rather than a general promise that every zone will be fully operating early.

The same page says the first 20,000 passholders visiting from July 20 through August 16 can receive an exclusive LEGO Festival pop badge while supplies last. That broad redemption window reduces the need to visit opening day solely for the badge, although the park does not promise that inventory will last through the final weekend.

Passholders should bring the active pass and check its current admission status before travel. A festival benefit does not override normal pass terms, operating dates, entry policies, or any temporary capacity control the resort may apply.

Families should build the day around age and energy

The festival is explicitly designed for children ages 2 to 12, so the canonical Family Travel tag applies here as a real visitor decision rather than a general label. Younger children may get more value from the Chill Out and Creative zones, character encounters, and short building activities than from trying to complete every challenge in one continuous circuit.

Older children who want the Pokemon experience, Formula 1 activities, and multiple rides may need a more structured order. Starting with the highest priority zone, checking live show times, and placing the water playground near the hottest part of the day can reduce backtracking across the park.

LEGOLAND says the water playground will operate daily during the festival season. Families planning to use it should bring the clothing and supplies required by the resort’s current rules, since a water break can take more time than a standard attraction and changes the practical pace of the afternoon.
