La Compagnie Adds Newark to Dusseldorf in Spring 2027

On 7 September 2026, La Compagnie said it will launch nonstop all-business-class flights between Newark Liberty International Airport and Dusseldorf Airport in spring 2027, with up to five weekly trips in the summer season. The French boutique carrier’s U.S. press release says tickets are already on sale at LaCompagnie.com, through its call center, and via travel advisors, and that it will be the only airline offering a New York to Dusseldorf nonstop when the route starts.

Travelers who now connect through Frankfurt, Paris, or another European hub can plan a single-ticket lie-flat hop into the Rhineland instead. Compare that against other transatlantic options on Deep Arrival’s airlines hub, then decide whether the extra cabin space is worth buying before a specific first-flight date is posted.

Spring 2027 Nonstop Between Newark and Dusseldorf

La Compagnie will operate the route on a new Airbus A321neo LR, the longer-range member of the family it already flies across the Atlantic. The airline currently links Newark with Paris Orly, Nice Cote d’Azur, and Milan Malpensa, so Dusseldorf becomes its fourth European city from Terminal B. Travel + Leisure and Simple Flying both match the spring 2027, up-to-five-weekly outline in the carrier’s own statement.

President and CEO Christian Vernet called Dusseldorf “a natural next chapter” and pointed to North Rhine-Westphalia’s business ties with the United States. Dusseldorf Airport CEO Lars Redeligx said the United States is a key market for the state’s economy and that the product is built for people who want to cross the Atlantic “efficiently and in a relaxed way.” Those quotes appear in the 7 September release and in Travel + Leisure’s independent write-up.

Tickets Are On Sale Before the First Flight

The press release is unusually useful on the booking question: schedule details and tickets are available now, even though the first flight is still months away. That matters for Rhine river-cruise passengers and trade-show travelers who lock hotels early. Buy only after you can see a real date, aircraft, and fare on LaCompagnie.com, not from a headline.

Travel + Leisure reports that La Compagnie does not maintain interline ticketing or baggage agreements with other airlines. Anyone connecting at Newark onto this flight must buy a separate ticket and re-check bags. That is a hard planning fact, not a lounge perk. If your inbound is a U.S. domestic or another transatlantic carrier, budget time and a second bag drop in Terminal B.

All-Business Cabin and Lounge Access at Both Ends

La Compagnie’s current A321neo cabins have 76 lie-flat seats in a 2-2 layout, and every seat converts into a fully flat bed, the airline says. Complimentary gate-to-gate high-speed Wi-Fi, seasonal menus with French wines and Champagne, a generous baggage allowance, and Beau Domaine amenity kits are part of the same product.

Simple Flying, citing One Mile at a Time, has reported that the new A321neo LR may have 68 seats rather than 76. Until the airline publishes the Dusseldorf seat map, treat 76 as the current fleet standard, not a guaranteed count on the longer-range jet.

At Dusseldorf, passengers will use the DUS Sky Lounge in Pier C. At Newark, they can use Lounge&Co, the carrier’s dedicated lounge in Terminal B. La Compagnie says that lounge was recently renovated. The airline also notes there is no TSA PreCheck lane at Terminal B2 today, so even a boutique cabin does not skip the standard checkpoint.

The Rhineland Without a European Connection

Travel + Leisure reports that Dusseldorf has not had a U.S. nonstop since Delta Air Lines ended Atlanta service in fall 2023. Most U.S. travelers now reach the city by connecting in Europe or by taking a train of about 90 minutes from Frankfurt Airport. Cologne, a common Rhine cruise port and home of the cathedral, sits in the same catchment. Belgium and the Netherlands are also in range of DUS, which is why the airport sells the route as more than a city pair.

La Compagnie says more than 24,000 international companies are based in North Rhine-Westphalia, including about 1,700 U.S. firms, and that the United States is the state’s most important non-European export market. That is the business case. Leisure travelers get art, shopping, and a jump-off for vineyards, castles, and river cruises. Neither story requires you to take the new flight if a cheaper one-stop on a larger airline still fits the calendar.

La Compagnie’s Newark Network After Dusseldorf

The Dusseldorf launch rides a third A321neo LR planned for 2027, with a fourth A321neo XLR listed for 2028. The airline recently said it will keep Newark to Nice flying into winter for the first time. Deep Arrival previously covered La Compagnie’s upmarket A321neo World Cup positioning; this route is a separate, dated network add, not a rehash of that cabin story.

That extra range is the operational reason Dusseldorf is possible. The airline says the LR and later XLR are quieter and up to 30 percent more fuel efficient than its previous-generation fleet, and that the extra range supports Central Europe without a widebody. None of that changes the traveler job: a dated nonstop, a boutique cabin, and a separate-ticket connection at Newark.

Simple Flying published a sample round-trip quote in the thousands of dollars on the day of the announcement. Fares will move. Use the airline site for a live price, and remember the product is all-business with no economy cabin to hide in if you only need a cheap seat to Cologne.

Decision Matrix
If you… What to do
Need Dusseldorf, Cologne, or a Rhine cruise in summer 2027 Check LaCompagnie.com for a dated nonstop before you buy a one-stop via Frankfurt or Paris.
Are connecting at Newark from another airline Buy a separate ticket and re-check bags; there is no interline, per Travel + Leisure.
Want lie-flat without a widebody This is the product. Confirm the LR seat count when the map is posted.
Only need a cheap seat to Germany Skip it. There is no economy cabin on this aircraft.
Planning Impact

7 September 2026 is the announcement. Tickets are on sale now even though the first flight is in spring 2027. Do not wait for a vague “later this year” if your cruise or trade show is already booked.

Spring 2027 is the start window. The airline has not published the first exact date in the release. Watch LaCompagnie.com for the opening week before you lock nonrefundable hotels.

Summer season frequency is up to five weekly. Shoulder months may be thinner. Confirm the day-of-week pattern before you build a tight land tour.
