What Hyatt locked on August 12
In an official August 12 newsroom release, Hyatt said an affiliate signed a franchise agreement for Hyatt Regency Palace Berlin. The company dated the post August 13, 2026, Chicago time for the public newsroom card.
The hotel is expected to undergo a phased renovation and then join the Hyatt Regency brand and World of Hyatt in early 2027. Hyatt said more opening details will come as the project moves.
That is a future brand change, not a same-week booking switch. Guests holding 2026 dates at Hotel Palace Berlin are still in the current independent hotel, not a live Hyatt stay.
Property Magazine independently recapped the same early 2027 Hyatt move and the planned modernization. It also framed the hotel as a City West business and events property.
The current Hotel Palace Berlin site still books the house under its own name, with the same 239 rooms and 39 suites. Do not treat that site as a World of Hyatt checkout.
What stays in City West
Hyatt places the hotel opposite the Berlin Zoo, in walking range of Kurfürstendamm, the Europa-Center, and major transport. That is the same City West address travelers already use for Zoo, shopping, and the Memorial Church area.
The room count stays 239 guestrooms and 39 suites. Hyatt says the mix is meant for business stays that still have somewhere to unwind.
The hotel already has an exclusive club lounge. Hyatt expects that lounge to be reimagined as a Regency Club after the conversion.
Food and meeting spaces stay on site. Hyatt names the beef45 restaurant, two bars, a spa and pool, and about 2,600 square meters of event space across 18 venues for up to 900 guests.
Those are current building facts plus a future club name. They are not a 2026 Hyatt rate or a points chart.
What World of Hyatt members should not assume
World of Hyatt earning and award nights start only after the hotel joins the program. Hyatt did not publish a points category, a suite-upgrade rule, or a club-access date.
Do not book 2026 nights at palace.de expecting Hyatt elite credit. Do not hold a 2027 week yet and assume a New Year switch.
Early 2027 is a season, not a day. A traveler who needs Hyatt nights in the first week of January should wait for a month before locking a nonrefundable rate.
A traveler who only wants this address, not the points, can keep using the current hotel. The building is open now. The brand change is the later event.

Group and meeting planners have a second clock. The 18 venues and 900 guest capacity stay in the building, but a phased public-area rebuild can move a ballroom offline. Do not reprint a 2027 event contract on today’s floor plan.
