What Holiday World activated on August 12
The park’s Today in the Park board says the Worry-Free Weather Guarantee has been activated for August 12, 2026.
That same board lists five attractions closed for the day: Kima Bay, Tembo Falls, Tembo Tides, The Wave, and Firecracker. Four of those names sit in Splashin’ Safari. Firecracker is a wooden coaster on the Holiday World side.
The park did not shut the whole property. Shows were still listed, and official August 12 hours stayed 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Holiday World and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Splashin’ Safari, Central time.
The Worry-Free Weather Guarantee page now includes August 12 among the eligible return dates for the 2026 season. That listing is the traveler proof, not a social post or a rumor from the parking lot.
The program is not a rain-check for drizzle. Holiday World says rides stay open in ordinary rain, and the guarantee starts only when weather closes a portion of the attractions for 90 minutes or longer, or when management activates it. Only tickets scanned on a listed date count.
Keep the physical ticket if you still have it. A photo or screenshot is enough if the paper is gone.
Who actually gets the extra day
Eligibility is narrower than the word “guarantee” sounds.
Single-day tickets and Multi-Day Flex tickets qualify when they were scanned on August 12. Discounted Bring a Friend tickets bought with a Season Pass or Platinum Season Pass also qualify. Picnic and group-event tickets qualify if the guest keeps the ticket from that visit and redeems it at Guest Relations or Group Sales.
Season Pass, Platinum Season Pass, and Summer Fun Card holders do not get a complimentary extra day, because those products already cover most remaining public days. A passholder should still keep a Bring a Friend ticket used on August 12, because that companion ticket can qualify even when the pass does not.
Complimentary weather-return tickets cannot mint another weather ticket, and companion passes for bus drivers or caregivers are outside the program. In-park purchases and rentals from August 12 are not reimbursed.
If the ticket was never scanned, the weather list does not apply. A Pick Your Date ticket that stayed unused can often be moved at Guest Relations, though a fee may apply if the new date costs more, and all unscanned tickets still expire at season’s end.
How Flex tickets and the return visit should be sequenced
Flex holders have a timing trap that single-day guests do not.
A 2-day or 3-day Flex product is valid only inside a short window after the first scan. The official FAQ says remaining Flex days must be used within seven days of first use, and it gives the same concrete example twice: if the first ticket is used on a Wednesday, the leftover days must be used by the following Tuesday. The weather-return ticket is different. Once August 12 is on the eligible list, that scanned day can be redeemed on any remaining 2026 public operating day.
That is why Holiday World tells Flex guests not to burn the weather-return ticket before the leftover Flex days. Use the tighter Flex window first. Save the weather ticket for a later weekend, a Friday Night Live evening, or a fall operating day after the daily calendar thins out.
If the guarantee was activated on more than one day of a Flex stay, each scanned ticket from an activated day can support its own return visit. Do not assume one photo covers the whole trip. Keep the ticket image from each activated day.
A family that scanned a 2-day Flex pair on Wednesday, August 12, should treat Thursday through Tuesday as the Flex clock, then hold the weather ticket for a later public day after that window closes. Which remaining 2026 days are actually worth using

The official 2026 hours calendar still shows daily operations through Sunday, August 16, then a fast turn toward weekends. August 17 through 20 are closed, August 21 is a 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Holiday World evening with Splashin’ Safari closed, and the same Friday-evening plus weekend pattern repeats later in the month around more midweek dark days.
The Spencer County Visitors Bureau listing matches that shift: daily through August 16, then Fridays through Sundays from August 21 through 30. It also notes Splashin’ Safari typically winding down in early September, Holiday World continuing into late October, and Happy Halloween Weekends from September 19 through November 1, 2026.
Use the official calendar, not the tourism summary, before you drive. Friday Night Live evenings do not include the water park. A guest who lost water rides on August 12 and wants those exact slides back should aim at a remaining Splashin’ Safari day, not a Holiday World-only Friday night.

What this does not change
August 12 does not rewrite the 2027 Platinum Pass offer or the Cannonball water-coaster timeline. Those remain separate products with their own dates.
The weather ticket also does not restore rentals, cabana time, or food spending from the first visit. It restores admission.
