The Harry Potter: A Forbidden Forest Experience walking trail returns to Westchester County this fall. The outdoor experience opens on 16 October 2026 at Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park in Yorktown Heights, New York, with timed entry tickets at $35.90 for adults and $28.90 for children, according to the announcement from Fever, the ticketing platform behind the event.
Tickets went on sale on 17 September. If you are turning the trip into an overnight rather than a drive up from the city, our Hudson Valley lodging guide covers the areas nearby.
- Where: FDR State Park, 2957 Crompond Road, Yorktown Heights, New York.
- Opens: 16 October 2026, with timed entry slots.
- Tickets: $35.90 adults, $28.90 children; under 3 free.
- Parking: $15 booked online, $20 at the gate.
- Time needed: about 60 to 90 minutes at your own pace.
What the Trail Is
The experience is a lit woodland trail that visitors walk at their own pace, passing installations of magical creatures and interactive stops rather than riding anything. The official Westchester page describes it as an outdoor trail with a themed village at the end, where food, drink and merchandise are sold.
Fever says this year’s route adds new moments drawn from the films, arranged as a chronological journey, with more interactive stops and spell casting than earlier editions.
Prices, Parking and Booking
Entry is by timed ticket, and the official event page asks visitors to arrive 15 minutes before their slot for check in. Children under 3 enter free, and anyone 12 or under must be accompanied by an adult.
Parking is separate from admission: $15 if you book it online in advance, $20 if you pay at the gate. A free carer pass is available for support workers, and motorized scooters can be rented for $15.
| If you… | What to do |
|---|---|
| Want opening weekend | Book now; the run started on sale 17 September. |
| Are driving | Add parking online at $15 instead of $20 at the gate. |
| Have a stroller | The trail is stroller accessible but not hard surfaced throughout. |
| Need mobility help | Scooters rent for $15; accessible parking needs a form in advance. |
| Have a dog | Only service animals are allowed. |
The park itself is a New York State park with lakes and picnic areas that stays open through the day, so the trail slots begin after dark rather than replacing normal park use. Arriving early for a walk in daylight and then joining a later slot is possible.
Terrain and Accessibility
This is a park trail, not a paved attraction midway. The official page warns that the ground is uneven and mostly not hard surfaced, which matters for wheelchairs, strollers and anyone who is unsteady on rough paths after dark.
Accessible restrooms are available, accessible parking can be arranged with an advance form, and service animals are welcome. Dress for a cold evening outdoors in the Hudson Valley in late autumn, since the route runs well into the season.
Getting There From New York City
FDR State Park is on Crompond Road in Yorktown Heights, about an hour north of Manhattan by car depending on traffic. The park sits off the Taconic State Parkway, and the drive up the Hudson Valley in late October often lines up with fall color.
There is no direct train to the park, so most visitors drive. If you are coming by rail to the area, plan a taxi or ride share for the last leg and check return availability before you set out for a late slot.
Groups often pair the trail with dinner in nearby Peekskill or Croton-on-Hudson, both within a short drive, because the themed village at the end sells snacks rather than full meals.
What Is Not Yet Announced
The announcement does not give a closing date for the Westchester run, and the trail’s exact length is not published. Slot availability by date is only visible in the booking system, so check the calendar for the evenings you can make rather than assuming the whole season is open.
Prices quoted here are the ones in the announcement; ticketing fees and any dynamic pricing by date are applied at checkout.
Fever also runs the experience in other cities, so check that any ticket you buy is for the Westchester location and not another market.
