Aichi Prefecture said on August 7, 2026, that it will advance a third-phase Ghibli Park plan for a new indoor facility themed to Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. Studio Ghibli proposed that world after the prefecture asked for advice. There is no opening date and no ticket on sale.
If a 2026 visit is the trip, buy the park that exists now. The five current areas remain the product. Do not hold a Japan itinerary for a Nausicaa room that is not dated.

What Aichi actually announced
The August 7 prefecture press page is a governor briefing, not a ride opening. Aichi had surveyed stay times, visitor paths, rest-space use, and heat risk. The study said a new indoor building could extend visits and cut heat-stroke exposure, but only if the content is strong enough to hold people.
Site work pointed to the park's west entrance plaza. The plaza sits on the main guest path, does not need new earthmoving, and can sit beside current buildings. Aichi then asked Studio Ghibli, which supervises park planning and design, for a view. Ghibli answered with a facility that expresses the world of Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind.
Aichi says it will move that idea forward as the park's third-phase concept. The page posts a stay-time survey summary and a concept image. It does not name a year, a budget, a construction start, or a ticket window.
That is the whole dated fact. Treat it as a planning filter, not as a 2026 add-on.
What you can still book
Ghibli Park still requires advance reservations. The official English home page says so in plain language and also warns that this is the Aichi park, not the Ghibli Museum in Mitaka. A Mitaka timed ticket does not become a Nausicaa hall and does not enter Ghibli Park.
The live map is five areas: Ghibli's Grand Warehouse, Hill of Youth, Dondoko Forest, Mononoke Village, and Valley of Witches. Those are the rooms a 2026 ticket can still buy. Reach the park on the Linimo to Ai-Chikyuhaku Kinen Koen. Build that ride into the day, not a future indoor hall.
The official park site, updated the same day as the Aichi briefing, is about those rooms. The October 30 hours notice says Valley of Witches stays open until 7:00 p.m. for the start of winter lights. Mononoke Village also stays open until 7:00 p.m. that one night. Final entry to both is 6:30 p.m.
Ghibli's Grand Warehouse, Hill of Youth, and Dondoko Forest still close at 5:00 p.m. that day. Final entry to Hill of Youth and Dondoko Forest is 4:30 p.m. Grand Warehouse entry must happen no later than one hour after the reserved time. O-Sanpo Day Pass Premium holders may re-enter Grand Warehouse after 3:00 p.m.
October reservations, including October 30, went on sale at 2:00 p.m. Japan time on August 10 through Lawson Ticket and Klook. If October 30 is the night you want the lights, check live inventory now. If that date is gone, do not invent a Nausicaa substitute. There is none.

Who should move now
If you already hold 2026 Ghibli Park tickets, keep them. The third-phase plan does not cancel Grand Warehouse, Valley of Witches, or Dondoko Forest. It does not add a sixth room you can walk into this year.
If you have not booked and you travel in 2026, reserve the current mix. Aichi's own study exists because guests already leave too soon and overheat. An indoor Nausicaa hall is the long-term answer the prefecture wants. It is not a same-year patch.
If you were waiting for Nausicaa before buying Japan rail or Nagoya nights, stop waiting. The briefing gives no year. A hotel hold that only made sense after a Nausicaa date is a hold with no date.
If October 30 still has tickets, that is the one dated extra on the current calendar: later last entry at two outdoor areas, normal 5:00 p.m. close at the other three. Plan the Linimo and last-train math against 7:00 p.m., not against a future indoor hall.

If you go in late summer or early fall, treat heat as a current problem. Aichi said indoor space is the long-term fix. The short-term fix is an earlier Grand Warehouse reservation, water, and a shorter outdoor loop at Valley of Witches and Mononoke Village.
If you go on October 30, do not assume the whole park stays open late. Only Valley of Witches and Mononoke Village run to 7:00 p.m. Finish Dondoko Forest and Hill of Youth before 4:30 p.m. entry. Keep the later window for the two areas that actually keep the lights on.
If you are shopping 2027, you may watch the third-phase page. You may not treat a concept image as a reservation. When a year appears, that will be a new stream. This one is the August 7 decision to stop waiting.
