Georgia Aquarium’s Haunted Seas returns October 2 with Halloween presentations and seasonal activities included in general admission, but the opening Friday does not include the full weekend trick-or-treat program. Families choosing a fall visit should distinguish daily entertainment, Saturday and Sunday activities, and two separately ticketed after-hours evenings before deciding which experience they want.
The Atlanta attraction lists the season through November 1, with daily Halloween overlays for dolphin and sea lion presentations and a transformed atrium. Its official Haunted Seas schedule puts the six-station trick-or-treat trail on weekends beginning October 3, so someone arriving October 2 should not expect candy stations simply because the broader event has started.
- Season: October 2 through November 1, 2026.
- Included: Daytime Haunted Seas programming comes with general admission.
- Weekend entertainment: Strolling performers run Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Trick-or-treating: Saturdays and Sundays, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., beginning October 3.
- Separate evenings: Haunted Seas After Hours runs October 16 and 30, with tickets and an 18-plus entry rule.
October 2 Opens the Season, Not the Candy Trail
The aquarium’s current 2026 seasonal listing confirms October 2 through November 1 for Haunted Seas. The returning program combines themed animal presentations, décor and Halloween characters, rather than replacing regular aquarium admission with a mandatory separate daytime event ticket.
Atlanta Parent’s September 1 Halloween roundup independently lists the same October 2 to November 1 season and identifies weekend trick-or-treating. That distinction matters for an opening-day visit: October 2 is a Friday, while the first published candy-trail day is Saturday, October 3.
Visitors who mainly want the seasonal dolphin and sea lion presentations have a daily option throughout the event. A family prioritizing candy, crafts and character encounters should choose a Saturday or Sunday instead, and arrive with the individual activity windows in mind rather than treating all Halloween offerings as an all-day bundle.
Weekend Activities Follow Two Different Windows
Continuous strolling entertainment is scheduled Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., including musicians, acrobats, pirates, mermaids, skeletons and other characters. The program highlights Captain Squidd and Scuttlebones the First Mate, but does not publish a separate guaranteed appointment for each character in that window.
The haunted-treasure scavenger hunt and festive crafts are also weekend activities. Visitors can pick up a hunt map, explore the exhibits for the listed surprises and complete the hunt for a prize, making those activities a different reason to choose a weekend from simply seeing the seasonal atrium decorations.
Trick-or-treating has the narrower 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. window and follows six stations through Ocean Voyager, Tropical Diver and River Scout. Arriving at 11 a.m. may fit the strolling entertainment, but it does not move the candy trail’s start forward; plan that afternoon window if collecting treats is the main reason for the visit.
The operator welcomes costumes for the family program but says they are not required. A visitor can participate without buying an outfit, and the aquarium’s seasonal presentation should not be confused with a haunted-house admission product or a promise that every exhibit has a separate Halloween activity.
Included Presentations Still Need Day-of Reservations
The Haunted Seas page describes Halloween overlays, themed music and lighting for the dolphin and sea lion presentations, with those seasonal presentations available daily through November 1. The aquarium also states on its current visitor navigation that dolphin and sea lion presentations require reservations on the day of the visit.
Included admission and presentation reservations therefore answer different questions: one covers the purchase, while the other is the process for seeing a scheduled presentation. Check the day’s reservation options after arrival rather than assuming an aquarium ticket alone secures a seat in a particular show.
The same operator guidance says Aqua Pass holders require reservations to visit, and the 2026 event calendar includes Haunted Seas in Aqua Pass access. A passholder should complete the visit reservation as well as any presentation reservation; those steps should not be merged into an unsupported promise of walk-in entry at any time.
After Hours Is a Separate Adults-Only Choice
The official October 16 After Hours listing and October 30 listing describe separate 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. experiences. Guests must be at least 18 to attend and at least 21 to consume alcohol, with valid identification required for entry and alcohol service.
Both pages display $29.99 member tickets and $49.99 advance nonmember tickets at the September 28 check, including event admission and two drink tickets usable for alcoholic or nonalcoholic drinks. Extra drinks, food and garage parking are additional purchases, so the advertised event price should not be read as an all-inclusive evening total.
The after-hours program includes a live DJ and access to aquarium galleries, with café dining available for purchase until 9:30 p.m. Last entry is also 9:30 p.m., the final alcohol pour is 10:15 p.m. and the event ends at 10:30 p.m.; a late arrival does not extend those times.
The operator states that refunds are not issued for cancellations, no-shows or late arrivals to these evening events. Those event-specific terms reinforce the need to choose the correct experience before payment: daytime family Haunted Seas inclusion does not establish admission to an 18-plus party later that night.
| Your Priority | Choose This Window |
