The traveler decision is whether a fee-based match beats re-earning Flying Blue status from zero before your next Air France or KLM heavy year.

What changed in the July expansion
Loyalty specialists including LoyaltyLobby on July 24 2026 and InsideFlyer report that Flying Blue added the seven countries to its ongoing paid status match.
The application portal remains flyingblue.statusmatch.com. Applicants need an existing Flying Blue account, eligible elite status on a listed airline, and residency proof for a target country.
For the Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay fee table, LoyaltyLobby lists Silver at USD 99, Gold at USD 299, and Platinum at USD 399. Platinum is not available for Brazil under that same table.
Separately, residents of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Hong Kong, Taiwan, or China cannot match into Flying Blue Platinum. Gold is the ceiling for those markets even when a source airline maps to Platinum elsewhere.
The match does not automatically renew. After 12 months, members must meet published Flying Blue Experience Point requirements to keep the tier.
Who should apply, and who should skip
Strong candidates already hold LATAM Pass Gold or higher, or another listed program, and will fly Air France, KLM, or SkyTeam partners enough to use lounge access, checked-bag benefits, and award advantages this year.
Weak candidates have little AF or KLM flying planned. Paying USD 99 to 399 for status that sits unused is a bad trade even when the application is approved.
United States and Canada windows are listed as recently ended on the same fee tables. Do not apply under those closed country rows.

How to apply without wasting the fee
Create or log into Flying Blue first. Status matches require an existing membership name that matches your airline status records.
Confirm your current elite tier on the source airline is already posted before you apply. Matches use the tier you hold at application time, not a pending upgrade that has not posted yet.
Prepare a photo of your status card or digital status proof plus government ID if the form requests it. Incomplete evidence is a common rejection reason.
Read the fee shown on the checkout screen before paying. Region and tier control the price, and the portal may change fees without a long public notice period.
After approval, StatusMatch and Flying Blue materials say it can take up to about five business days before the upgraded tier appears in your Flying Blue account. Do not buy a ticket that depends on status benefits the same afternoon you apply.
Airline mapping and LATAM reality
Flying Blue still matches a limited airline list. LATAM is the main South American partner path highlighted in the July coverage.
Most other Central and South American carriers remain outside the map.
Air India was added to the matched-airline list in the same July update cycle. That helps Indian Maharaja Club elites more than LatAm residents, but it shows the matrix still moves.
American, United, Delta partners, Emirates, Qatar, and other long-haul programs remain on the broader matrix with their own tier mapping. Confirm your exact source tier against the live eligibility table before you pay.
Platinum mapping is the riskiest row. If your country blocks Platinum, you will pay the Gold fee path even when your home airline status would map higher for someone living elsewhere.

What matched status is worth on a real trip
Silver is the entry tier for many matches. It helps with mileage earning and some priority, but it is not a lounge key for every itinerary.
Gold is the more common target when the fee is USD 299 and you will take multiple long-haul Air France or KLM sectors. Lounge access and higher baggage rights can repay the fee in one family trip if you would otherwise buy those extras.
Platinum is only worth chasing when your country allows it and your source status maps high enough. If your market is capped at Gold, stop comparing yourself to a Platinum table from Europe or Japan.
Count the cash you already spend on seat selection, extra bags, and day-of airport services. If those line items already exceed the match fee on planned flights, the match is easier to justify.
If your year is mostly short domestic hops on a non-partner carrier, keep the cash. Status match is not a souvenir purchase.
