Fiesta Texas: Why a 9 p.m. Show Costs Nothing at Fright Fest

The show that just won Best New Show at Six Flags Fiesta Texas is the part of Fright Fest that costs nothing extra, and that is the planning fact worth carrying into a San Antonio night. Monster Mash Bash took the 2026 Golden Ticket Award in that category, Amusement Today announced on 12 September.

The other half of the news is quieter. When we covered the Fiesta Texas fall scare nights in July, the maze lineup and the pass price were both unpublished. Both are on the operator’s page now.

At a Glance
  • Free with admission: Monster Mash Bash, nightly at 9 p.m. at Lone Star Lil’s Amphitheater.
  • Award: 2026 Golden Ticket Award for Best New Show, presented by Amusement Today.
  • Event window: select nights, 11 September to 1 November 2026.
  • Maze access: a Haunted Attractions Pass, listed from 30 dollars.
  • Bundle: admission plus maze access, listed from 69 dollars.

A Second Straight Win in the Same Category

Amusement Today reports that this is the second consecutive year Six Flags Fiesta Texas has taken Best New Show, which is the detail that turns a trophy into a signal.

One win says a park had a good season. Two in a row in the same category says the entertainment department is being resourced deliberately, and that a visitor can expect the free show slot to be treated as a real production rather than a gap filler.

“This award is a testament to the incredible creativity, passion and talent of our entertainment team,” said Robert Bustle, the park manager.

John Reilly, the chief executive of Six Flags, framed it across the chain: “These awards reflect the extraordinary experiences our teams create every day.”

The award sits inside the park’s 30th anniversary Fright Fest season, which is the anniversary the whole event is built around this year.

It is worth being clear about whose judgement this is. The Golden Ticket Awards are Amusement Today’s own, so this is a trade publication rating a park’s work rather than the park rating itself, which is a different kind of claim from a press release.

What the Show Actually Is

Monster Mash Bash is a live concert production rather than a walk through attraction, and the distinction matters for how a night gets planned.

It runs at Lone Star Lil’s Amphitheater, nightly at 9 p.m., with a full band and an ensemble cast performing rock, pop and rhythm and blues. Choreography and pyrotechnics are part of the staging.

Admission covers it. There is no upcharge, no reservation and no separate ticket, which puts it in the same category as the scare zones rather than the mazes.

The run is select dates through 1 November, matching the event calendar rather than running every night of the autumn. A 9 p.m. curtain also means it lands after dark on every date in the window, which is not true of every park’s evening show slot.

A fixed 9 p.m. start is also a planning constraint rather than a bonus. It sits in the window when maze queues are at their longest, so a group that wants both has to give up one line to make the amphitheatre in time.

Decision Matrix
If you… What to do
Only want the free night Admission covers five scare zones, the live shows and Monster Mash Bash at 9 p.m. Skip the maze pass.
Want the mazes too Add a Haunted Attractions Pass, listed from 30 dollars, or buy the bundle from 69 dollars instead.
Are comparing the two buys The bundle is admission plus mazes in one product. The pass alone is maze access and does not include admission.
Are planning past this season A 2027 Gold Pass is listed at 95 dollars, with renewals at 89, covering the Texas and Oklahoma parks.
Are booking a specific night Select nights run 11 September to 1 November. Check the park calendar before booking a non refundable hotel.

The Numbers Six Flags Has Now Published

In July the pass price was the missing number. It is published now, and the structure it sits in is worth reading carefully.

The operator’s event page lists a Fright Fest Bundle from 69 dollars, covering one day admission plus maze access, and a Haunted Attractions Pass from 30 dollars covering maze access only, with park admission not included.

It also lists a 2027 Gold Pass at 95 dollars, and 89 dollars on renewal, valid across the Texas and Oklahoma parks. Processing fees and applicable taxes sit on top of all of these.

The important word in all three is starting. These are floor prices for the cheapest qualifying night, not the price of a Saturday in late October, so the figure at checkout will often be higher than the figure on the page.

Our Fiesta Texas tickets guide sets out how the park’s regular admission products work, which is the baseline these seasonal figures sit on top of.

Five Scare Zones, Four Mazes, One Ticket Line

The lineup is published in full now, and the split between the free and paid halves is unusually easy to see.

The four mazes are Hexenhaus, presented by Snickers, Nosferatu, which the park lists as all new this season, Cinema Slasher, presented by M&M’S, and Twisted: Theater of Torment, presented by Skittles. All four need the pass.

The five scare zones are Cirkus Bezerkus: Big Top Terror and Alley of the Dead, both listed as new, plus Fear Acres, Steampunkins and Wicked Hollow. All five come with admission.

Three of the four mazes carry a confectionery sponsorship on the operator’s own page. That is not a criticism of the content, but it is a visible answer to how a regional park funds four walk through builds in a single season, and it is the kind of detail that rarely appears in an announcement.

So a guest paying only for a ticket still gets five themed areas, the live entertainment lineup and an award winning 9 p.m. show. The 30 dollars buys four walk through mazes on top of that, and nothing else.

What Has Not Been Published

The exact operating nights inside the 11 September to 1 November window are still on the park calendar rather than in any release, so the grid has to be checked date by date.

No Express version of the Haunted Attractions Pass is listed on the event page, and no separate member or passholder maze price appears alongside the two public products.

The run time of Monster Mash Bash is not published either. The 9 p.m. start is stated, the finish is not, which matters for anyone timing a park exit against a drive back into San Antonio.

Nor is there a published statement on whether the show runs on every operating night of the event or on a narrower set of dates inside it. Nightly is the word used, and the event itself runs on select nights, so those two need reconciling against the calendar.

Planning Impact

The award winning show is the free one. Monster Mash Bash needs nothing beyond admission, so the upcharge decision is only about mazes.

Two products, not one. The bundle includes admission, the standalone pass does not. Buying the wrong one leaves a gap at the gate.

Starting prices are floors. The 30 and 69 dollar figures exclude fees and taxes and apply to the cheapest qualifying nights.
