Faraway Jackson Hole has opened in Teton Village, giving travelers a newly redesigned place to stay at the base of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. The former Snake River Lodge now operates with 90 guest rooms and suites, 51 residences, an all day restaurant and direct access to the mountain village.

The opening matters for summer and winter trip planning because the hotel is bookable now, while part of its amenity program is still arriving in phases. The indoor and outdoor pool, hot tub and sauna are scheduled to debut in August, so travelers should match the exact stay dates with the facilities they expect to use.

What opened in Teton Village

Faraway Hotels announced the opening after an extensive transformation of the former Snake River Lodge. The first western location for the Faraway brand combines a conventional hotel inventory with larger residences that can work for families and groups.

The redesign was developed with Workshop/APD and Jenny Bukovec Studio. The operator describes the style as a Wild Western Homestead, using natural materials, warm colors and residential details rather than treating the property as a traditional ski lodge.

That change is more than a new name. Travelers can now compare a bookable, redesigned property in the center of Teton Village with hotels in downtown Jackson, park gateway lodging and more remote cabins.

The useful choice depends on whether immediate mountain access or easier access to town is the stronger priority.

What is operating now and what arrives later

Sure Hand is the main all day restaurant and bar. The hotel lists operating hours from 7 in the morning to 10 at night and says seating is currently first come rather than reservation based.

Travelers arriving during a busy weekend should keep a backup dinner option in Teton Village instead of assuming immediate seating.

Breakfast is not included in the standard room rate. Complimentary coffee is available in the lobby from 7 to 11 each morning, but guests should include breakfast spending in the total trip budget.

The opening announcement places the pool, hot tub and sauna debut in August. The hotel also says it does not have an onsite spa, although it can direct guests to local partners.

Anyone booking mainly for wellness should verify that the specific facility is operating on the stay dates rather than relying on an early announcement or an image.

Later summer excursions are planned with Backcountry Safaris, including horseback riding, whitewater rafting and tours of Grand Teton and Yellowstone national parks. These are separate activities that require availability checks, appropriate timing and a clear understanding of pickup arrangements.

Location tradeoffs for a Jackson Hole trip

The hotel places guests about a one minute walk from the tram terminal and lifts at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. That is a strong fit for travelers who want to minimize daily driving around Teton Village or build a stay around mountain activities.

Faraway estimates the drive from Jackson Hole Airport at about 34 minutes for the roughly 21 mile route. Ride services are available, but rental cars and private transfers can be easier for early departures, national park days or travelers carrying substantial outdoor equipment.

The property lists Grand Teton National Park at about a 42 minute drive and the south entrance of Yellowstone at about 90 minutes. Those are planning estimates, not guarantees.

Traffic, construction, wildlife, weather and stops at park entrances can extend the day considerably.

Travelers building a two park trip can use Deep Arrival’s Grand Teton and Yellowstone itinerary to compare a Teton Village base with nights closer to the parks. Our Jackson Hole planning guide also helps place the hotel within a broader valley stay.

The price is more than the displayed room rate

The hotel’s published policies add a resort fee equal to 10 percent of the room rate plus tax. That percentage based fee can widen the difference between two room categories, so the final checkout total is more useful than the first nightly number shown in search results.

Self parking is complimentary, while valet parking is listed at $18 per day. Guests bringing a car should confirm whether the self parking location and access work for their mobility needs and whether the policy changes during peak winter periods.

Direct reservations require a 40 percent deposit when booked more than 21 days before arrival, with the remaining balance charged 21 days before the stay. The standard cancellation policy also requires cancellation by 6 in the evening at least 21 days before arrival to avoid the full stay charge, although individual offers can differ.

A $200 incidental hold is taken at check in. Pet friendly rooms carry a published $100 nightly fee per pet, with a two pet limit and advance notice required.

These terms can materially change the cost of a family or pet trip and should be confirmed on the final rate screen.

Rooms and residences serve different trips

Standard rooms start around 280 square feet and are designed for one or two beds. Some categories add fireplaces, terraces or more space, while the residences extend into multiroom layouts with kitchens, living areas and laundry.

The residences may work better for longer stays or groups that want to prepare food and gather privately. They should not be compared with a guest room only on the nightly rate, because bedding, occupancy, kitchen equipment and the cancellation terms can differ.

Families should verify the exact sleeping arrangement before payment. Pack and play cribs can be requested with at least 48 hours notice, but rollaway beds are not permitted.

Connecting rooms are available only by request and should be confirmed directly rather than assumed from adjacent room categories.

Check in begins at 4 in the afternoon and checkout is by 11 in the morning. Luggage storage is available, which can help guests whose flight or activity schedule does not line up with room access.

Late arrivals after 11 at night should contact the hotel so the front desk can prepare.
