Eurowings will start flying to Baghdad on December 10, 2026, with two weekly nonstop flights from Berlin and two more from Dusseldorf, according to the airline’s 2026/27 winter schedule announcement. Baghdad is new to the Eurowings map, which makes four weekly flights to the Iraqi capital from two German cities.
For travelers in Germany with family, business or trips in Iraq, the change replaces a connection through Istanbul, the Gulf or another hub with a direct flight on a Lufthansa Group carrier. Our airlines hub tracks other carriers adding or dropping Middle East service this winter.
- Start date: December 10, 2026.
- Routes: Berlin to Baghdad and Dusseldorf to Baghdad, nonstop.
- Frequency: Two weekly flights from each German city, four in total.
- Existing Iraq service: Erbil from six German airports.
- Not yet published: flight days, departure times and fares for Baghdad.
What Eurowings Announced for Baghdad
Eurowings describes Baghdad as brand new to its schedule, with two weekly direct flights planned from both Berlin and Dusseldorf from December 10. The airline says the new connections complement its existing services to Iraq and strengthen the range of routes for visiting friends and relatives.
The Rus Tourism News report reads the plan the same way, with two weekly services from Berlin and another two from Dusseldorf. Neither the airline nor that report names the weekdays or the departure times.
The Lufthansa Group carried the same announcement in its newsroom on October 1, under the headline about expanded Middle East connections. It repeats the Baghdad plan and the December 10 start without adding a timetable.
Why Erbil Matters for the Baghdad Launch
Eurowings already flies to Erbil in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region from Berlin, Dusseldorf, Cologne/Bonn, Hamburg, Hanover and Stuttgart. Baghdad is a different airport in a different part of the country, so it adds a direct option for travelers heading to the capital and central Iraq.
Berlin and Dusseldorf are the only two German cities on the Baghdad plan so far. Travelers from Hamburg, Hanover, Cologne/Bonn or Stuttgart would still change planes or travel to one of those two airports.
The Rest of the Eurowings Middle East Network
Baghdad joins a winter program that Eurowings says covers Dubai, Jeddah, Tel Aviv, Beirut, Erbil and Amman. Dubai gets 14 weekly flights: daily from Berlin, four a week from Stuttgart and three a week from Cologne/Bonn.
Jeddah is served twice a week from Berlin and Stuttgart and three times a week from Cologne/Bonn. Tel Aviv gets three weekly flights from Dusseldorf, and Stuttgart has two weekly flights to Amman.
Several Gulf and Middle East routes have moved in the past weeks, so check the status of any Middle East flight close to departure. Our report on when airlines return to Dubai covers how other carriers are restoring service.
Check Entry Rules Before You Book
Eurowings announced the schedule but not entry requirements, which depend on your passport and purpose of travel. Government travel advice for Iraq is cautious, as our report on the Iraq Level 4 travel warning explains.
Read your own government’s advice and confirm visa and insurance rules before you pay for a ticket. A new route can also change or be withdrawn before launch, so keep a flexible fare in mind for a December trip.
A Premium Seat Starts on December 1
Separately, Eurowings says its Premium BIZ Seat will be available from December 1, 2026 on all Dubai flights and selected flights to London Heathrow, Mallorca and Malaga. It is eight seats in a 2×2 layout across the first two rows of an Airbus A320neo, with wider seats, more legroom and more recline.
Eurowings has not said that the Baghdad flights will carry that seat or which aircraft will fly them, so do not assume either.
