WDW News Today photographed the former Oaxacan wood carving space in Plaza de los Amigos on September 1 and found it empty except for a large lamppost and a dark wooden barrel. A cast member had already confirmed the shop’s last day as Monday, August 31.
The same report shows the Kidcot area cleared and roped off, with no substitute station in Mexico that day. Guests can stand in the vacant shop floor, but they cannot enter the former Kidcot stop.
Disney Dining independently described the same two changes: the shop remnants gone one day after closing, and velvet ropes blocking the nearby children’s station. Disney has not announced a replacement for either space.

What Kidcot is, and why the official page can mislead you
Kidcot Fun Stops are Disney’s free World Showcase activity for children. The official Kidcot Fun Stops page still tells guests to pick up an international memento with facts and activities at each of the 11 country pavilions.
As of this check, that page still lists Mexico Pavilion near the Mexico Folk Art Gallery, with published hours of 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. It also lists Norway, China, Germany, Italy, the American Adventure, Japan, Morocco, France, the United Kingdom, and Canada.
That listing is the trap. Families who follow the official map into the pyramid will find ropes instead of a card.
Treat the Mexico row as stale until Disney removes it or posts a new location. Kidcot is not a ride and has no height requirement.
It is a staffed table or counter where a child collects a country card. Missing Mexico does not cancel the rest of the loop, but it does break a complete 11-stop set.
What is still open in the Mexico Pavilion

La Hacienda de San Angel is still on Disney’s Food and Wine concert dining-package roster, which is a useful signal that Mexico table service is intended to keep operating through the festival. La Cantina de San Angel remains listed as quick service on the lagoon, with tacos, nachos, empanadas, and churros.
If your Mexico plan was lunch, the boat ride, and a bathroom break, keep it. If the plan was a Kidcot card plus handmade Oaxacan figures, rewrite that piece before you enter the pyramid.
How to finish a Kidcot loop without Mexico
Start at any other listed pavilion and collect cards in walking order rather than hunting for Mexico first. Norway’s stop is listed at The Puffin’s Roost, China near the exit of Reflections of China, and Germany at Volkunst.
Italy is listed outside near La Bottega Italiana, the American Adventure outside near Art of Disney, Japan in the Bijutsu-kan Gallery, and Morocco at the Marketplace in the Medina.
France is listed at Souvenirs de France, the United Kingdom at The Toy Soldier, and Canada at the exit of Canada Far and Wide. Those ten locations still match Disney’s current Kidcot page.
Do not queue at the Mexico ropes hoping a cast member will stamp a card through the barrier. WDW News Today said Mexico does not have a Kidcot station as of September 1, and Disney has not posted a temporary substitute.
If a child is collecting a full set, explain the missing country before you reach the pyramid. That avoids a walk into a roped corner during a busy Food and Wine afternoon, when World Showcase already slows around outdoor kitchens.
Why this week is the wrong time to trust a stale Mexico listing
The EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival is already running, from August 27 through November 21, 2026, on Disney’s festival pages. World Showcase is carrying extra dining traffic, extra strollers, and extra first-time festival guests who use Kidcot as a kid-friendly path around the lagoon.
