Efteling Plus Pass Loses Dec. 31 Access: Which Winter Days Are Blocked

Efteling Plus season pass holders will not be able to use their pass on New Year’s Eve this year. The park’s official blocked day calendar for the Plus pass now lists 31 December 2026, alongside 26 to 30 December, and Looopings reports that an Efteling spokesperson confirmed the change, citing expected crowds during the day and the separate, ticketed New Year’s party in the evening.

If you hold a Plus pass and planned to spend the last days of the year in the park, the whole week after Christmas is now off limits. Our Efteling park hours guide shows the opening times for the days your pass does work, so you can move a visit forward before the blocked period starts.

The Plus Pass Loses New Year’s Eve

Efteling sells three season passes. According to the park’s pass validity page, Classic gives access on at least 290 days a year, Plus on at least 340 days and Premium on every day. The blocked days are published as calendars that pass holders can add to their phone, and the Plus calendar now includes 31 December 2026.

Looopings reports that the park says blocks like this can be added as long as they are announced at least a month ahead. The decision is not linked to the cap on annual visitor numbers in Efteling’s nature permit, the spokesperson told the site.

Every Blocked Plus Date This Winter

For the rest of 2026, the Plus calendar lists Sundays 22 and 29 November, the weekend of 5 and 6 December, and every day from 26 to 31 December. Christmas Day, 25 December, is not on the Plus list. Early in 2027 the calendar blocks 10, 16, 23 and 24 January.

How the Classic Pass Compares

The Classic pass is blocked on many more days, including 1 to 8 November, 14 and 15 November, the same late November and early December dates, and every day from 19 to 31 December, which takes in Christmas Day. If you hold a Classic pass, plan any Christmas season visit before 19 December.

Because the calendars are published per pass type rather than as one list, the simplest check is to subscribe to the calendar for your own pass from the validity page. The park offers versions for Apple, Google and Outlook calendars, so blocked days appear next to your other plans.

The Separate New Year’s Party

Efteling’s New Year’s Eve page promises winter lights, attractions, entertainment and fireworks on 31 December, and says tickets will go on sale at a later date. Season passes are never valid for the party itself: the park’s passholder benefit page says pass holders instead get 25% off a New Year’s party ticket.

That means a Plus holder who wants to see in the new year at Efteling now needs a party ticket for the evening and cannot use the pass for the daytime either.

Planning a Christmas Week Visit

The blocked days cluster around winter weekends and the Christmas holiday week. If your family has mixed pass types, check each calendar before you book a hotel, because a Classic holder and a Plus holder in the same group have different blocked days.

If you are travelling to the Netherlands for the holidays and do not hold a pass, check day ticket availability for your date early, since the pass blocks point to heavy demand that week. Efteling is near Kaatsheuvel in North Brabant, between Tilburg and ‘s-Hertogenbosch.
