easyJet passengers departing Edinburgh Airport can now pay to have checked bags collected from a home, office, or hotel before the flight. The new Airportr service seals the luggage, takes it to the airport, and checks it in, allowing an eligible passenger to arrive without the bags and head toward security instead of joining the normal bag drop queue.

The launch gives Edinburgh travelers a real choice rather than a new airline requirement. It is the first home luggage collection service at a Scottish airport, according to Edinburgh Airport’s announcement, but it adds a separate paid booking to the trip and does not replace easyJet’s baggage allowance, online check in, travel document, or boarding rules.

How the Edinburgh Airportr service works

The process starts away from the terminal, where the passenger chooses a collection time and enters an address within Airportr’s Edinburgh service area, then completes a separate service booking tied to an eligible easyJet flight. Address coverage is a booking gate, so living or staying near Edinburgh does not by itself guarantee that a particular postcode or collection time will be offered.

easyJet’s current Airportr help page says the driver seals the luggage and transports it to the airport, while the customer can track the bag from collection through check in. At the destination, the bag normally appears on the baggage belt in the same way as other checked luggage.

Edinburgh joins London Gatwick and Geneva in easyJet’s Airportr network, but the local offer is not identical at every airport. The Edinburgh launch covers collection before departure, while the extra delivery option described for arriving passengers applies at Geneva, so an Edinburgh traveler should not assume the outbound service includes destination delivery.

The service is designed to remove the physical bag from the landside part of the airport journey, not remove security screening, change the airline’s boarding deadline, or create a protected fast track lane. Travelers still need enough time to clear security, reach the gate, and meet the instructions attached to their easyJet booking.

What the £24 starting price does and does not include

Airportr currently advertises Edinburgh collection from £24, while noting that prices can vary with the distance from the airport and the number of bags. The headline price is therefore a lead in rather than a universal charge, and the booking result for the actual address, flight, and luggage is the useful comparison figure.

That collection charge is separate from any easyJet price for checked baggage, so a traveler still needs the right hold bag allowance and the collected item must stay within the applicable limits. Airportr says normal bags can weigh up to 32 kilograms on its platform, but that is not permission to exceed easyJet’s purchased allowance, and the lower applicable limit controls. The option may be less useful for a passenger traveling only with the included small cabin bag, someone staying outside the service area, or a trip with a very early departure and no suitable collection slot. It also may not solve a baggage problem created by a separate ticket, since eligibility and handling depend on the easyJet flight attached to the booking.

Why Edinburgh added the service now

The airport framed the launch as a choice for passengers during the busy summer period. Passenger Terminal Today reported that Edinburgh handled 16.9 million passengers in 2025 and had already redesigned its check in hall with 50 self service kiosks before the 2025 summer season.

Home collection moves one part of the check in process outside that hall, meaning users do not need to arrive with checked bags and wait for normal bag acceptance. Neither the airport nor easyJet has published a guaranteed queue reduction for an individual departure, so the traveler benefit is the booked bypass rather than a promise that every airport queue will be shorter.

The service expands an existing easyJet partnership rather than testing an unfamiliar process with no operating history, with Gatwick and Geneva already listed on the airline’s help page. Even so, local address coverage, available collection windows, and prices can differ, so experience at another airport is not a substitute for checking the Edinburgh booking.
