The same page states the benefit is exclusive to registered overnight guests listed on the Resort reservation. People who are not on the room roster do not get the free admission simply because they are traveling with the party.
Admission covers either Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach on that check-in day. Guests enter with a MagicBand, MagicBand+, Disney MagicMobile pass, or Key to the World Card.
Disney also notes that the benefit will return for eligible Resorts Collection hotels in summer 2027, excluding the Campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort, with exact 2027 dates still to come. That future window does not extend the 2026 September 8 cutoff.

Who is eligible, and who is not
Disney publishes a long eligible Resorts Collection list that runs from value hotels such as the All-Star Resorts and Pop Century through moderates such as Caribbean Beach and Coronado Springs and deluxes such as the Grand Floridian, Polynesian, and Contemporary.
Disney Vacation Club villas and many Fort Wilderness cabin products appear on the eligible list for 2026. The Campsites at Fort Wilderness are eligible in 2026 on the current page, but Disney already flags them as excluded from the promised 2027 return.
Off-property hotels, even ones with Early Theme Park Entry partnerships, are outside this benefit. A cheap room next to Disney Springs does not unlock free Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach admission on arrival day.

How to use the benefit on check-in day
Disney says guests can go straight to a water park on check-in day even before the hotel room is ready, as long as they do not need to store luggage at the park.
Luggage is not permitted in the water parks or on Disney buses. The practical sequence is usually Bell Services luggage check at the Resort, a small day bag for swim gear, then bus, Minnie Van, or car parking at the water park.
Pack swimwear, sunscreen, water shoes, and a change of clothes in that day bag. Water parks have changing areas with showers, and Resort guests can get complimentary towel rentals at Singapore Sal’s or High ‘N Dry Rentals with the same entitlement media used for park entry.
Complimentary life jackets are available inside the parks, so families do not need to haul their own. Follow the water park dress code and leave prohibited items at home.
Because the benefit is day-of only, a delayed flight that pushes hotel check-in to September 9 does not preserve a September 8 free water park day. The calendar date on the reservation is the gate.
Why the September 8 deadline matters more this year
In prior years, some guests treated free water park admission as a flexible summer extra. For 2026, Disney locked the perk to a defined arrival window that ends September 8.
That cutoff sits one day before Typhoon Lagoon’s temporary close beginning September 9, 2026, when Disney directs guests to Blizzard Beach. Late-summer planners therefore have a short overlap where the free check-in day can still land at either park.
After September 8, arriving Resort guests lose the free admission even if Blizzard Beach remains the open water park option. Separately ticketed water park days, Park Hopper Plus configurations, and after-hours events follow their own rules and prices.
Weather and capacity still override the calendar. Disney warns that water parks may close for weather, rehabilitation, seasonal needs, or other reasons, and that full-day closures should appear on the park calendar at least one day ahead when known.
Temporary same-day closures can still happen with little notice. A free entitlement has no cash value if the park cannot operate, so keep a non-water backup for the arrival afternoon.
What to do if you are still booking late summer dates
First, decide whether a free water park morning is worth shifting a check-in from September 9 or later back to September 8 or earlier. For many families, one free water park ticket per registered guest is real money saved on a short stay.
Second, make sure every swimmer is an overnight guest on the reservation before you arrive. A last-minute Front Desk add may work, but Disney prefers advance changes and notes capacity and fee limits.
Third, pick Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach based on hours, weather, and your group’s slide comfort, then confirm hours close to arrival on Disney’s park calendar.
