DFW Drive-Up Parking Costs Split on October 1

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport will split drive-up parking and access prices on October 1, 2026, charging less for North Texas Tollway Authority TollTag payments and more for credit cards at the exit, the airport said in a September 14 newsroom notice. Terminal parking that now tops out at $32 for 6 to 24 hours will become $37 with a TollTag and $40 if you pay by card.

The useful next step is to prebook before you leave home or attach a credit-backed TollTag, because those two products keep the lower published prices. Drivers comparing DFW with Dallas Love Field can start with Deep Arrival’s closest airport to Arlington, TX, DFW versus DAL guide before they lock a lot.

At a Glance
  • Start date: New drive-up maximums begin October 1, 2026.
  • Terminal daily cap: $37 with TollTag, $40 by credit card, up from $32 through September 30.
  • Drop-off 8 to 30 minutes: $1 with TollTag, $3 by card, replacing the current $2 fee.
  • Cheapest path: Prebook at DFWairport.com for up to 50 percent off drive-up rates, with no TollTag required.
  • Last increase: DFW last raised parking rates in 2024.

New Daily Caps Take Effect October 1

DFW published a full table of maximum drive-up rates for October 1. Terminal garage parking moves to $37 a day with a TollTag and $40 by credit card. Express covered parking is $23 and $25. Express uncovered is $20 and $22. Remote parking is $14 and $16.

Those figures are daily caps, not what every traveler will pay. The airport says prebook discounts still depend on how far ahead you reserve, length of stay, the product you pick, and demand. Drive-up prices are the ceiling if you roll in without a reservation.

The same notice lists a $12 TollTag and $15 credit-card fee to pass through on International Parkway without parking. Valet, posted separately on the airport valet page, rises from $45 a day through September 30 to $55 a day on October 1.

DFW framed the split as a way to keep plaza lanes moving and to hold prices below what they would be if every car paid at a ticket booth. The airport last changed parking rates in 2024 and said inflation, labor, and roadway work, including new right-hand terminal exits and new bridges, drove the review.

Pickup Lanes Cost $1 With TollTag

The sharpest consumer change is at the curb, not in the overnight lots. Vehicles that stay on airport property for 8 to 30 minutes will pay $1 with a TollTag and $3 by credit card. That 8 to 30 minute window is the standard passenger pickup and drop-off band.

Stay 30 to 60 minutes and the meeter-greeter rate becomes $3 with a tag and $5 by card. One to two hours is $5 and $7. The current terminal table through September 30 still lists $2 for 8 to 30 minutes and $3 for 30 minutes to 2 hours, so short-stay tag users pay less on October 1 while card users pay more.

The first 8 minutes in a terminal garage also jump. Through September 30 that slice is $9. On October 1 it is $12 with a TollTag and $15 by card. That is the wrong window for a true pickup. Use the cell-phone lot if you are waiting, then enter the 8 to 30 minute band when your passenger is actually at the curb.

Prebook Still Beats Both Drive-Up Prices

DFW says customers who prebook at DFWairport.com will keep the best available parking prices, with discounts of up to 50 percent off drive-up rates. Prebooking does not require a TollTag. That matters if you do not want an NTTA account but still want the lower overnight number.

Airports Council International recognized the prebook program this year as the best innovation in non-terminal revenue programs, according to the airport. Discounts vary by booking window, stay length, product, and demand, so a Tuesday in October will not price the same as Thanksgiving week.

If you are building a Dallas itinerary around the airport rather than only the garage, Deep Arrival’s things to do in Dallas guide is the next planning page after you know what the lot will cost. For trips that can skip a car, the Grapevine to Fort Worth TEXRail station guide is the rail alternative to a multi-day DFW stay.

NTTA TollTag Setup Before You Reach DFW

A TollTag is an NTTA transponder. DFW’s own TollTag page says existing customers can use a tag at the airport if the account is current and backed by a credit card. Cash TollTag accounts must be converted to a credit-card account before the plaza will treat you as a tag customer.

New customers create an account at NTTA.org and post a credit card. The tag must be turned on for DFW parking and pass-through activity. DFW does not use ZipCash. Parking fees up to $10 come out of the prepaid NTTA balance. Amounts over $10 bill the card on file.

Use the lanes marked for TollTag. DFW says plazas will not open for defective tags, and the higher non-tag rate is then assessed. A $20 service charge hits failed cards, and the account stays blocked at DFW until the parking fee is paid. Unblocking can take up to 72 hours. DFW cannot change a transaction after you exit.

Travelers who do not want the tag should enter a Ticket Only lane on the right side of the plaza and take a ticket. Paying by card in a Credit lane is usually faster than mixing into a tag-only queue. No cash is accepted in parking.

Closed Garage Sections Change Where You Park

Terminal C’s south garage section has been closed for construction since September 14, 2024. Central and north sections remain open. Express South has been closed since September 9, 2024. Express North, with covered and uncovered stalls and shuttles to all terminals, is the express product that is actually selling.

Parking is limited to 90 days. Vehicles left longer are towed off airport. ADA spaces sit on Levels 1 and 3 of terminal garages for direct terminal access. Parking Guest Relations is +1-972-973-3112 or [email protected], weekdays 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

DFW is a self-funded airport. Parking, concessions, and airline fees pay for operations, including the roadway system the airport manages itself. The October 1 split is the first published drive-up increase since 2024, and it is the first time the airport has posted a standing TollTag versus credit-card gap on every major parking product.

Decision Matrix
If you… What to do
Need overnight terminal parking after October 1 Prebook first. Drive-up caps are $37 with TollTag and $40 by card, up from $32.
Are picking someone up for 8 to 30 minutes Use a credit-backed TollTag for the $1 fee. Card payers owe $3. Wait in the cell-phone lot first.
Want the lowest multi-day rate Prebook remote or express. Remote drive-up caps are $14 with a tag and $16 by card.
Do not have a TollTag Prebook anyway. Reservations do not require a tag and can still cut up to 50 percent off drive-up.
Planning Impact

September 30 is the last day of the current drive-up table. Overnight terminal parking still caps at $32, and the 8 to 30 minute curb fee is still $2.

October 1 is the split. Every major lot posts a TollTag price and a higher credit-card price. Valet moves from $45 to $55 a day.

Prebook before you leave home. It remains the only way DFW says you can beat both drive-up columns, and it does not require an NTTA account.
