Delta will start nonstop flights between Salt Lake City and Flagstaff, Arizona, on June 7, 2027, with two daily round trips year round. The flights will be operated for Delta Connection by SkyWest Airlines on a CRJ-550, and they give Flagstaff Pulliam Airport its first link to a Delta hub. Delta announced the route on October 1, 2026.
If you are planning a Grand Canyon or Sedona trip for summer 2027, this adds a one stop option through Salt Lake City from much of Delta’s network, landing about 90 minutes from the Grand Canyon’s South Rim. Compare it with flying into Phoenix and driving, and check fares on the Delta announcement and in the Delta app once schedules load for your dates.

Delta Salt Lake City to Flagstaff Schedule
According to Delta’s announcement, the route launches on June 7, 2027, with two daily flights in each direction, operating all year. SkyWest will fly the route as Delta Connection using the CRJ-550, a regional jet in a premium configuration. Delta described Flagstaff as a mountain destination and a natural starting point for some of Arizona’s best known outdoor areas.
Delta said Sedona is about 50 minutes from Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon’s South Rim about 90 minutes away. The route joins other recently announced nonstops from Salt Lake City to smaller leisure markets, including Santa Rosa in Sonoma County and Monterey.
Salt Lake City is one of Delta’s main hubs, so the new route opens one stop trips to Flagstaff from many cities across Delta’s domestic network and from international flights that arrive in Salt Lake City. Until now, travelers using Delta to reach northern Arizona usually flew into Phoenix and drove or connected onward on another airline. Fares and schedules for the route should appear in Delta’s booking tools as the 2027 schedule opens, so set a fare alert if you know your travel dates.
Why Flagstaff Has Wanted This Route
Flagstaff has had limited airline choice. Hoodline reported in September that American Airlines operated the airport’s only commercial flights, to Phoenix and Dallas Fort Worth, and that the Dallas route moved to larger mainline Airbus A319 aircraft in May 2026.
The city combined an $800,000 federal Small Community Air Service Development Program grant with $548,500 in local contributions to recruit nonstop service to Denver or Salt Lake City, according to Hoodline. The airport offered incentives including minimum revenue guarantees, waived landing fees, free terminal office space for two years and marketing support. Officials said a new hub connection could bring lower fares through competition and better access for Grand Canyon visitors.

Planning a Grand Canyon or Sedona Trip
Many Grand Canyon visitors fly into Phoenix and drive north, which gives the widest choice of flights and rental cars but adds a longer drive. Flying into Flagstaff shortens the drive to the South Rim and Sedona, but there are fewer flights and fewer rental cars, so book a car early for summer dates. With only two daily Delta flights, a delay or cancellation can be harder to recover from, so keep a buffer before any timed tour, rafting trip or park reservation.
Flagstaff sits at about 7,000 feet, and summer afternoon thunderstorms are common in the monsoon season, which can delay flights at smaller airports. If you are connecting in Salt Lake City, a single ticket protects your connection if the first flight is late. Check whether your fare includes a seat assignment and carry on bag, since regional jet overhead bins can be smaller than on mainline aircraft.
