Corsica Linea Confirms Ferry Cancellations Through October 4

Corsica Linea’s current traffic notice confirms named Corsica crossings cancelled for labor action through October 4, 2026. It lists five cancelled crossings on October 2, five on October 3 and three on October 4. Those specific cancellations supersede the earlier unconfirmed sailing-plan guidance; they do not establish that every ferry or destination is suspended.

The initial September reports described a 48-hour CGT seafarers’ notice starting September 29 at 8 a.m., renewable in 24-hour blocks. Corse Net Infos described its port scope, while France 3 Corse ViaStella reported office staff were included. The later operator cancellations show affected services beyond that initial period, but do not establish the union’s formal renewal decisions or a final strike end. The September 29 SUD-Rail action remains a separate historical event.

At a Glance
  • Corsica cancellations: five October 2, five October 3 and three October 4, named by the operator.
  • Initial notice: September 29 at 8 a.m., 48 hours and renewable, as reported before the action.
  • Check: the specific sailing, direction, vessel and date; no blanket port-closure finding.
  • Tunisia: Marseille to Tunis October 3 and Tunis to Marseille October 4 are listed cancelled.
  • Booking remedy: operator says modifications without fees and refunds through the issuing agency.

Which Corsica Linea Crossings Are Listed Cancelled

For October 3, the operator notice cancels Bastia to Marseille on A Galeotta, L’Île-Rousse to Marseille on Capu di Muru, Propriano to Marseille on Vizzavona, Marseille to Bastia on Capu Rossu, and Marseille to Ajaccio on Pascal Paoli. For October 4, it cancels Bastia to Marseille on Capu Rossu, Ajaccio to Marseille on Pascal Paoli, and Marseille to Bastia on A Galeotta. Match the route, direction, vessel and date to the booking, rather than treating a route name alone as a whole-day shutdown.

The original reports placed Marseille to Propriano and L’Île-Rousse at the center of the dispute and described the notice as covering public-service ports plus Toulon, Nice and Marseille. ICI Corse also mentioned La Méridionale. The current Corsica Linea cancellation list is not a cancellation statement for the other operator. Check a La Méridionale booking with that company separately.

The Earlier Algeria Plan Does Not Establish an Outcome

The earlier Algérie360 report described a planned September 29 Marseille to Algiers crossing at 10 a.m. and no other Algeria sailing scheduled until October 6. That was a pre-event plan, not proof that the September 29 crossing operated. The current traffic notice reviewed here does not establish that crossing’s outcome. Confirm an Algeria booking directly with Corsica Linea.

Why the Seafarers Are Striking

The dispute centres on a plan for Corsica Linea to charter the Massalia, a ship owned by La Méridionale, together with its crew, to run the public service routes from Marseille to Propriano and L’Île-Rousse, which are now sailed by Corsica Linea’s Vizzavona. The CGT says the change would take one ship out of year round service and cost 90 permanent seafaring jobs. “We lose a ship for the whole year with two crews,” Frédéric Alpozzo, general secretary of the CGT seafarers in Marseille, told Corse Net Infos.

The CGT says it does not oppose Corsica Linea chartering the Massalia as such, but wants the ship used on the Algeria routes rather than on the Propriano and L’Île-Rousse lines. The union is also asking for a follow-up meeting on this spring’s mediation over French-flagged shipping in the Mediterranean, including the president of the Corsican transport office, guaranteed public service funding until 2030, and an extra Algeria programme from Sète.

Tunisia Cancellations and Booking Changes

The current operator traffic notice also cancels Marseille to Tunis on October 3 and Tunis to Marseille on October 4, both on Jean Nicoli, for labor action. Its named Corsica and Tunisia cancellations do not establish a final dispute end or cancellations on dates beyond those listed. The operator says changes are possible without fees and refunds through the issuing agency. Use the booking and issuing agency for the applicable change or refund.

What to Do
If you are booked What to do
On Corsica Linea to or from Corsica from 29 September Check the named cancellation and booking status before arranging a replacement journey.
On the 29 September Marseille to Algiers crossing That sailing is now historical; ask the operator or issuing agency about its actual outcome and any affected booking.
With a car on a Corsica trip Confirm a vehicle space on any replacement sailing before changing connected accommodation.
On a rail connection to Marseille, Toulon or Nice Check the actual train date and booking separately; the September 29 call is historical, not proof of later rail disruption.

If a crossing is cancelled and you end up with extra time on either side of the water, our guides to things to do in Marseille and things to do in Calvi can help.

Travel Impact

Named cancellations through October 4. The operator lists specific sailings; the initial 48-hour notice is historical context, not a current service guarantee.

Check the actual sailing. Match date, direction and vessel; the current notice also names two Tunisia cancellations. It does not cancel every route.

Change or refund with the booking issuer. Corsica Linea says modifications are possible without fees and refunds through the issuing agency; check any separate rail booking on its own current status.

Frequently Asked

Is there a Corsica Linea strike on 29 September 2026?

The original reports described a CGT notice from September 29 at 8 a.m., initially 48 hours and renewable. The operator now confirms specific labor-action cancellations through October 4. The current notice does not establish a final strike end or the union’s renewal cadence.

Which ports does the Corsica Linea strike cover?

The initial reports described public-service ports plus Toulon, Nice and Marseille and other company destinations. For a current booking, use the operator’s named sailing cancellations rather than assuming every port or route is closed.

Did the September 29 Marseille to Algiers crossing operate?

The earlier Algérie360 report described a planned September 29 Marseille to Algiers crossing, not a verified operating outcome. The current notice checked here does not establish whether that specific crossing ran.
