Minecraft World Hotel Stays Off Sale Until Bookings Open
Chessington’s hotel page labels the project “Spawning 2027” and asks why guests cannot book yet: the Minecraft World Hotel is not in the reservation system. Further information will come when bookings open. That is the traveler action for 2026. Put a reminder on the waitlist rather than calling the Safari or Azteca hotels and asking for a Minecraft room that does not exist.
The Independent, citing Merlin and Mojang, says the hotel will have 69 rooms on four floors, split as 49 standard and 20 premium. Check-in is themed as the Overworld, with blocky trees and animals. Lifts take a Nether Portal cue, and corridors are designed as mine tunnels. Bedrooms pull Minecraft blocks, items, mobs, textures, and colors into the furniture and walls.
Food and drink sit inside the stay. An underwater restaurant is drawn from ocean biomes. A bar themed to the Woodland Mansion is meant to serve colorful “potions.” Chessington’s own copy adds that finding the room is part of the walk, with mineshaft corridors and a hunt for diamond details. Beds are included. A crafting table is not required, and no rate has been published.
Escape the Nether Is Named, Heights Are Not
Escape the Nether is the headline ride. Chessington says guests board a minecart with Steve and Alex, fight through the Nether, meet hostile mobs, and launch back to the Overworld. The park promises lava. The Independent describes a fast indoor run through dark mines before the train exits a Nether portal into the land’s Overworld section. Track is already going in, according to construction video Merlin released with the Saturday announcement.
Height requirements and other ride specs are explicitly unannounced. Do not assume a family coaster or a teen thrill until Chessington publishes numbers. When those numbers land, compare them with the current Chessington height requirements rather than with a Minecraft screenshot. Until then, treat Escape the Nether as a 2027 planning marker, not a ride you can pack a measuring tape for this autumn.
The wider land is more than one coaster. Chessington says guests will walk Overworld lush caves, mineshafts, and plains, meet mobs in person, and find themed shops and dining. Merlin Annual Pass pages already flag Minecraft-themed attractions, interactive adventures, and block-built playscapes for 2027. None of that is ticketed as a separate add-on yet.
£50 Million Partnership, No Opening Week
The Independent puts the project at £50 million and names Merlin Entertainments and Mojang Studios as partners. Merlin also runs Legoland, Alton Towers, and Thorpe Park. Daisy Mercedes, a Merlin creative producer, said the hotel lets fans “sleep inside” the game and “respawn exactly where they want to be.” Filip Keatley Thoms, Mojang’s creative lead for Minecraft parks, said the team has thought about block scale and how mobs and biomes read in real space.
Those quotes confirm creative intent. They do not set a month. Chessington’s FAQ repeats that Minecraft World is coming in 2027 and that the exact date has not been revealed. Anyone selling a “first-week” package in 2026 is ahead of the operator. Keep 2027 Chessington short-break inventory on the existing Safari and Azteca hotels until Minecraft rooms appear in the same booking engine.
Annual-pass holders should watch Merlin’s 2027 pass rules separately. A new land does not automatically change what a 2026 pass covers on a 2027 visit. Check the pass product you actually hold when Chessington names a month.
2026 Chessington Visits Stay on Today’s Map
Minecraft World is a 2027 overlay on a park that is open now. Howl’o’ween, Christmas, and ordinary school-holiday calendars still run on the current estate. If you are going this autumn, use live Chessington park hours and ignore construction chatter except as a reason some paths may shift. The waitlist is the only official capture Chessington offers today. Sign up on the Minecraft World page if you want opening news, hotel-on-sale alerts, and coaster height news in one stream. That list does not reserve a room or a ride time. It also does not replace a 2026 ticket.
International visitors should plan the Surrey location as they do today: south-west of central London, with the same rail and road approach. The hotel, when it sells, is meant to keep overnight guests on the resort rather than in a generic Kingston or Chessington roadside inn. Until rates appear, compare current Chessington short breaks against nearby hotels the way you already do.
What a Family Should Do This Week
If a 2027 Minecraft stay is the goal, join the waitlist, skip fake “pre-sales,” and leave 2027 hotel money unspent. If a 2026 park day is the goal, buy a current ticket or Merlin pass and treat Minecraft as a construction story in the background. Mixed groups can do both: waitlist for 2027, ordinary tickets for this year.
When bookings open, expect the usual Chessington short-break bundle questions: whether Minecraft rooms include park tickets, breakfast, parking, and early ride time, or whether those extras stay on Safari and Azteca packages.
