Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business Cost: $1,000 Hotel Credit

Chase has posted two dated changes on the Sapphire Reserve for Business card page. Starting January 1, 2027, the annual statement credit for prepaid stays booked with The Edit by Chase Travel rises from $500 to $1,000. Starting November 15, 2026, the 3x Ultimate Rewards rate on social media and search engine advertising applies only to the first $1 million of eligible spend in each account anniversary year, then 1x.

That is a hotel cost decision for anyone who already books two-night Edit stays, and a points decision for the small set of businesses that spend seven figures a year on Meta or Google ads. Chase lists Riggs Washington DC among featured Edit properties, so a reader who will use the extra credits on a capital trip can start with Deep Arrival’s Washington, D.C., itinerary while the 2026 credit window is still $500.

At a Glance
  • Hotel credit: $500 today, then $1,000 from January 1, 2027, as four $250 statement credits.
  • Stay rule: prepaid The Edit booking, two-night minimum, primary cardmembers only.
  • Ad bonus: 3x on social and search ads, capped at $1 million per anniversary year from November 15, 2026.
  • Unchanged: $795 annual fee, $300 travel credit, and the consumer Sapphire Reserve hotel credit.
  • Proof: Chase card terms plus independent confirmation from The Points Guy.

Hotel Credit Rises to $1,000 on January 1

Chase currently pays up to $500 a year for qualifying The Edit stays, with a maximum of $250 per transaction. The issuer’s “coming soon” line on the same card page says that from January 1, 2027, cardholders get two additional $250 credits, for a total of $1,000 a year. The Points Guy reports Chase confirmed the extra credits can be used at any point in the calendar year, not one per quarter.

The Edit is Chase Travel’s curated hotel collection. Chase says a qualifying stay also brings a $100 property credit, daily breakfast for two, complimentary Wi-Fi, a room upgrade when available, and early check-in or late checkout when the hotel can do it. Chase puts the average extra value at more than $550 per stay, on top of the statement credit. Fully used, the 2027 hotel credit is $205 more than the $795 annual fee.

The credit does not stack with points on the same dollars. Chase says purchases that qualify for The Edit credit will not earn Ultimate Rewards. Employee cardmembers are excluded. If a 2026 stay already used both $250 credits, there is no third 2026 credit to claim before January 1.

Advertising Bonus Cap Begins November 15

Since launch, Sapphire Reserve for Business has paid 3x points on social media and search engine advertising with no published ceiling. Chase now prints the ceiling on the product page: 3x on up to $1 million in spend each anniversary year, starting November 15, 2026. Spend above that still earns points, at 1x in that category.

The Points Guy says Chase will count the first capped year from November 15, 2026, through the statement on which the next annual fee appears, then reset each account anniversary year. Chase told TPG the change will not affect the large majority of cardholders. That matches the math: $1 million of ad spend at 3x is 3 million points, a volume most small businesses never reach on Meta and Google combined.

The cap is category specific. Chase is not adding a ceiling on 8x Chase Travel spend or on 4x flights and hotels booked direct. The $300 anniversary-year travel credit also stays. The only earning change Chase has dated is the advertising line.

Booking Rules for The Edit Credits

Each $250 credit needs a prepaid The Edit booking of at least two nights, made through Chase Travel with the primary Sapphire Reserve for Business card. Chase currently features properties such as Riggs Washington DC, Nine Orchard in New York, and Regent Santa Monica Beach. Those names are examples on the benefits page, not a promise that every date or room type will clear the credit.

Plan the stay against the calendar year, not against a half-year split. Chase already lets Business cardholders use both 2026 credits at any point in the year. The 2027 change adds two more $250 credits under the same flexibility. Four two-night stays can exhaust $1,000. One long stay still maxes at $250 per transaction, so a single week at one hotel does not pull the full new credit.

A separate 2026 perk can cover other hotels. Chase is offering up to $250 in statement credits through December 31, 2026, on prepaid Chase Travel bookings at IHG, Montage, Pendry, Omni, Virgin Hotels, Minor Hotels, and Pan Pacific, with a two-night minimum. That credit is not The Edit benefit and is not being doubled in 2027. Use it this year if those brands fit the trip, and keep The Edit credits for the collection hotels.

Consumer Card and Employee Cards Stay Separate

Chase told The Points Guy the $1,000 Edit credit applies only to Sapphire Reserve for Business, not to the consumer Sapphire Reserve. Do not expect the personal card’s hotel credit to move on January 1 just because the Business page changed. Confirm the card in the Chase Travel checkout before you assume a stay will trigger a $250 credit. Chase repeats the same January 1, 2027, “coming soon” line on its Sapphire Reserve for Business benefits page.

Employee cards remain a hard miss for this benefit. Chase says The Edit credit is not available for Employee Cardmembers, and lounge access on those cards follows the same exclusion. A partner who holds an employee card should book on the primary account if the goal is the statement credit. The $795 annual fee is unchanged, so the extra $500 in 2027 hotel credits is the cost case for keeping the product, not a fee change.

Decision Matrix
If you… What to do
Already book two-night Edit stays Plan four $250 credits from January 1, 2027, and keep 2026 stays inside the current $500 cap.
Spend under $1 million a year on social and search ads Keep using 3x after November 15, 2026. The new cap does not touch that spend.
Spend above $1 million a year on those ads Model 1x after the cap and decide whether another card should take overflow ad spend.
Hold only the consumer Sapphire Reserve Do not plan on the $1,000 Business credit. Chase says that change is Business only.
Planning Impact

November 15, 2026, is the advertising cap date. 3x on social media and search engine ads applies only to the first $1 million in that anniversary year from that day, then 1x.

December 31, 2026, is the extra Chase Travel hotel credit deadline. The separate $250 credit for prepaid IHG, Montage, Pendry, Omni, Virgin, Minor, and Pan Pacific stays ends then.

January 1, 2027, is the $1,000 Edit credit date. Four $250 credits become available for prepaid two-night The Edit stays. Qualifying spend still does not earn points.

Frequently Asked

When does the Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business hotel credit rise to $1,000?

Chase says January 1, 2027. Until then the annual The Edit credit remains $500, with a $250 maximum per transaction and a two-night prepaid minimum through Chase Travel.

Does the new $1,000 hotel credit apply to the consumer Sapphire Reserve?

No. Chase told The Points Guy the extra Edit credits apply only to Sapphire Reserve for Business, not to the personal Sapphire Reserve.

When does Chase cap 3x advertising earnings on the Business card?

November 15, 2026. After that date, 3x applies to the first $1 million of eligible social media and search engine advertising spend in each account anniversary year, then 1x. The first capped year runs to the statement that carries the next annual fee.

Can employee cards use The Edit hotel credit?
