Best Western Rewards members can now earn double base points on qualifying stays, but a hotel reservation alone does not activate the offer. The official promotion covers completed stays from September 8 through December 31, 2026, at Best Western branded hotels globally, including the United States. Register before your first eligible stay, select an eligible earning rate and keep your account’s earning preference set to Best Western Rewards points.
This is a new fall earning formula, not an extension of the 1,000-bonus-points-per-night summer offer that ended September 7. The new bonus equals the base points earned on a qualified stay, with no promotional points cap. For a traveler already planning a Best Western stay, registration and booking eligibility matter more than chasing the word double.
- Stay window: September 8 through December 31, 2026; qualifying stays must be completed by the final date.
- Bonus: An additional amount equal to the base points earned, with no limit to promotional double points during the window.
- Registration: Required before the first qualified stay, along with Rewards membership and a points earning preference.
- Exclusions: Online travel agency, tour operator and special discounted rates excluded under the published qualifying-stay rules.
Double Means Base Points, Not Every Bonus
Best Western defines the promotion as a points bonus equal to the base points earned during your stay. If a qualified stay earns 800 base points, this offer adds 800 promotional points. If it earns 2,000 base points, the promotion adds 2,000. Those are arithmetic examples of the formula, not room-rate quotes or a promise about a particular property’s earning amount.
The distinction prevents a common misunderstanding: double points does not mean every possible reward in your account is doubled. The terms identify base points as the reference amount. Do not automatically multiply an elite-status bonus, credit-card reward or separate promotional award by two. Confirm any other earning component under its own rules rather than folding it into the headline.
There is no limit to how many double points a member can earn during this promotion, according to Best Western. That removes a promotional cap, not the underlying qualification rules. Every stay still needs to meet the rate, registration, membership and completion requirements. A nonqualifying booking does not become eligible because the offer advertises unlimited earning.
Register Before the Stay, Not After Checkout
The official page allows registration online, through a member’s account profile or at a property front desk. New members can join through the offer page, which says that enrollment there registers them for the promotion. Existing members still need to register. Do not assume ordinary program membership or a previous summer promotion has already enrolled your account for this one.
Best Western says stays completed before registration and program enrollment do not count toward the promotion. The practical move is to complete the registration step before travel and retain its confirmation with the booking details. If the page returns an error or you cannot establish that registration succeeded, contact Rewards support before relying on the bonus.
The earning preference must be Best Western Rewards points. That is a separate account setting from simply having a membership number attached to a reservation. Check it before the stay, especially if you have previously selected another earning preference. The current FAQ says all Best Western Rewards members are eligible; this is not presented as an invitation-only or new-member-only promotion.
The Booking Channel Can Disqualify the Stay
A qualified stay must last at least one night at a Best Western branded hotel and use a rate eligible to earn points. The promotion excludes bookings made through an online travel agency, through a tour operator or at a special discounted rate, with the program rules supplying the detailed eligibility criteria. Seeing the hotel brand on a third-party booking page is not enough.
That is why comparing only the property and dates can produce the wrong answer. Two reservations for the same room may have different reward treatment if the booking channel or rate category differs. Check the offer and earning conditions before payment. If your reservation came from a package or intermediary, do not assume adding a Rewards number later changes the booking’s eligibility.
Direct booking still requires an eligible rate; the word direct is not a universal exemption from exclusions. A traveler should compare cancellation terms and the final cash total alongside the points opportunity. There is no demonstrated cash value for the promotional points in these terms, so this article does not convert the bonus into a guaranteed dollar discount or recommend paying a particular premium to earn it.
December 31 Is a Checkout Deadline
The promotion began September 8 and requires qualifying stays to be completed by December 31. Booking a future trip before the end of the year is not sufficient if the stay itself falls outside the window. A New Year’s reservation that runs into January needs particular attention because the published completion condition is December 31, not merely a December check-in.
The offer applies to Best Western branded hotels globally, which includes qualifying U.S. stays. That geographic breadth does not eliminate property-specific availability or rate conditions. It also should not be read as a blanket promise covering every hotel associated with a broader corporate portfolio or a different loyalty program. Check the actual brand and Rewards earning eligibility of the hotel you select.
Best Western asks members to allow approximately two weeks for the promotional points to post. Keep the completed-stay receipt and check your account after that interval rather than expecting a bonus to appear at check-in. The FAQ directs members with missing points to Best Western Rewards Customer Care at 1-800-237-8483. Registration evidence and the reservation details will help establish which stay is being discussed.
Do Not Add the Expired $31 Offer to the Math
Frequent Miler reported this double-points offer on September 1 alongside a separate promotion for $31 bonus cards. The other offer required booking by September 7. As of September 9, that booking deadline has passed, so it is not an additional benefit a new booking should automatically include.
The independent report discusses the possibility of combining promotions, but Best Western’s current double-points terms say the promotion is not valid with another offer, promotion or discount. Treat that restriction as controlling when planning this stay. An author’s expectation based on past experience is not permission to promise two benefits on the same reservation.
For already-planned fall travel, the decision is fairly narrow: register, check the rate and earn the additional base-points amount if the stay qualifies. Do not create an unnecessary hotel stay solely because there is no promotional cap. The useful gain is on travel that fits your plans and budget, with eligibility confirmed before you spend.
| If you… | What to do |
|---|---|
| Already have an eligible fall stay planned | Register before the stay and verify the points earning preference. |
| Booked through an online travel agency | Do not count on the promotional bonus; that channel is excluded. |
| Are booking over New Year’s | Check the December 31 completed-stay requirement before including the bonus. |
| Expect double points plus another offer | Read the non-combination restriction rather than assuming offers stack. |
Before the stay is the registration deadline. Membership alone does not activate this promotion.
December 31 is the completion deadline. A booking made before then is not enough if the stay ends outside the window.
About two weeks after the stay is the posting check. Retain receipts and contact Rewards support if the expected bonus is missing.
