Allegiant Air travelers can now buy Allegiant First seats for flights that begin in March 2027, starting on select routes in and out of Punta Gorda Airport in Southwest Florida. The budget carrier confirmed the booking window in a customer email and to The Points Guy, turning a July product plan into a live fare choice with free bags and refundable tickets.
That matters because Allegiant has long sold bare-bones seats with paid bags and limited cabin upgrades. Allegiant First is the airline’s first true premium cabin, and the decision now is whether the recliner, included bags, and flexibility are worth roughly two and a half times the matching Main fare on early Punta Gorda schedules.

What Allegiant First actually includes
According to Allegiant’s July 29 product release, Allegiant First puts eight seats in the first two rows in a two-by-two layout. The seats are specified with a 37-inch pitch, five inches of recline, calf rests, and adjustable headrests, plus priority check-in and boarding.
The fare also includes one personal item, one full-size carry-on, and one checked bag up to 70 pounds. The Points Guy reports that Allegiant First tickets are fully refundable and do not carry change fees, which is a sharp break from Allegiant’s usual restrictive Main pricing.
Allegiant Extra, the airline’s earlier extra-legroom option, stays in the cabin map. First is an additional premium tier rather than a rename of Extra, so travelers still need to compare three paid choices once First appears on a flight: Main, Extra, and First.
Where you can book it first
The Points Guy found Allegiant First inventory live on allegiantair.com for March 2027 departures, with the early rollout limited to routes touching Punta Gorda. One example quoted there was Punta Gorda to MidAmerica St. Louis Airport, with Main around $167 one-way and First around $428 one-way.
That Punta Gorda focus fits Allegiant’s Florida leisure network and gives Southwest Florida travelers the first real chance to test the product. If your itinerary does not touch Punta Gorda, do not expect Allegiant First to appear yet, even when you open March 2027 search results on other cities.
Allegiant told The Points Guy it expects to put First on newly delivered Boeing 737 MAX aircraft and to equip about 23 airplanes in total. That is a minority of the combined Allegiant and Sun Country fleet, so the cabin will remain scarce after launch.
How this differs from the July announcement

Who should consider buying First now
Buy First when you value included bags, a refundable ticket, and a front-cabin recliner more than the cash difference versus Main. On the early Punta Gorda sample, that difference was more than $250 one-way, so the math favors longer trips, travelers checking bags anyway, or trips where schedule risk makes refundability useful.
Skip First when you travel light, can accept Allegiant’s usual change rules, or can sit in Extra for less money if Extra is offered on the same flight. How to verify a real First fare before you pay
Open allegiantair.com, search a March 2027 Punta Gorda itinerary, and look for an Allegiant First fare family rather than assuming every front-row seat is First. The early sample fares show Main and First as separate products with different rules, so a cheap Main ticket will not automatically upgrade later without buying First inventory that still exists.
Also compare the all-in cost. If you would have paid for a carry-on and a checked bag on Main, add those fees before declaring First too expensive. Refundability can matter on leisure trips with uncertain school or work dates, especially when Allegiant’s usual change penalties would otherwise lock you into a weak schedule.

It is also not yet clear how quickly First expands beyond Punta Gorda once more 737 MAX deliveries arrive. Allegiant’s July release said more aircraft deployment, routes, and onboard features would be shared later in 2026. Until that map widens, treat First as a limited Florida-leisure experiment rather than a fleetwide default.
