Alaska Adds Boise and Spokane Nonstop Flights to Honolulu

Alaska Airlines is adding nonstop flights from Boise and Spokane to Honolulu in December 2026, restoring direct links that neither inland Northwest airport has had for roughly 12 years. Boise will receive daily service beginning December 17, while Spokane will receive a Saturday flight beginning December 19.

The two routes create very different booking choices. Boise travelers get a flight every day, while Spokane travelers must build the trip around one weekly departure and return pattern, so the useful comparison is not simply nonstop versus connecting but also schedule flexibility, trip length and recovery options.

What the new Alaska schedules show

Simple Flying identified the newly loaded schedules on July 14 and reported that Boise service starts December 17. The Boise flight is scheduled daily, leaving Boise at 10:20 in the morning and reaching Honolulu at 2:20 in the afternoon local time after a maximum scheduled duration of seven hours.

The return is listed from Honolulu at 12:42 in the afternoon, arriving in Boise at 9:45 in the evening local time. Alaska plans to use a Boeing 737 MAX 8, which makes the new flight a long narrow body operation but keeps the trip within the range routinely flown by the carrier’s current fleet.

Spokane service begins two days later on December 19 and operates only on Saturdays. The outbound is listed at 9:00 in the morning from Spokane with a 2:03 arrival in Honolulu, while the return leaves Honolulu at 2:33 in the afternoon and reaches Spokane at 10:42 in the evening local time.

Alaska lists a Boeing 737 900ER for Spokane, rather than the MAX 8 assigned to Boise. Travelers should still verify the aircraft and times in the live booking record because airlines can revise equipment and schedules before a route begins.

Why daily Boise service is the larger schedule change

Daily frequency gives Boise travelers far more freedom to choose the length of a Hawaii stay. It also creates more same route alternatives if a traveler wants to shift by a day, although a disruption can still require a connection through Seattle, Portland or another mainland gateway.

The westbound flight covers about 2,464 nautical miles, according to the schedule analysis. That makes it a substantial nonstop from an inland airport and removes the usual connection for travelers who would otherwise route through a coastal hub before crossing the Pacific.

Alaska’s official Boise to Honolulu booking page is already displaying the city pair and live fare inventory. The page is the practical authority for the flight a traveler is purchasing, including the final operating date, stops, fare conditions and seat availability.

Daily does not mean every itinerary is automatically better. A connecting option may still offer a lower fare, a more useful arrival time or better availability for a family, and the nonstop should be compared on the complete round trip rather than on one attractive outbound result.

Spokane travelers need to plan around Saturday

The Spokane route offers the same basic benefit of avoiding a mainland connection, but the once weekly pattern is more restrictive. A traveler seeking nonstop service in both directions will usually need a trip length that matches the Saturday rotation, while a different return day may require a connection.

The scheduled westbound duration is seven hours and three minutes, slightly longer than the Boise flight. Simple Flying reports the route spans about 2,503 nautical miles and would become one of Alaska’s longest scheduled Boeing 737 900ER services.

Alaska’s official Spokane to Honolulu page currently lists the market and live fares. Travelers should open the exact result and confirm that it says nonstop, since a general route page can also display connecting itineraries on dates when the weekly flight does not operate.

The weekly schedule also changes the disruption calculation. If the Saturday nonstop is canceled or materially delayed, the next same route flight may be a week away, so Alaska may need to rebook passengers through another hub rather than hold them for the next nonstop.

Both markets have a history of Hawaii demand

These are restored airport pairs, not entirely new geographic links. Allegiant flew Boeing 757 service from Boise and Spokane to Honolulu in 2013 and 2014, but that broader Hawaii program ended after a relatively short period.

Simple Flying’s review of United States Department of Transportation traffic data found about 41,000 round trip passengers in each market during the 12 months ending March 2026. Those passengers traveled with a connection because no airline offered current nonstop service during the measured period.

The similar passenger totals do not make the route plans identical. Alaska has a stronger local schedule position in both cities, but it is choosing daily Boise service and weekly Spokane service, suggesting the airline expects different combinations of local demand, connecting traffic and aircraft availability.

Honolulu also works as more than a final destination within the combined Alaska and Hawaiian network. Some travelers may connect onward to another island, but they should compare the total itinerary with a mainland connection that reaches the desired island directly, since changing planes in Honolulu can reduce part of the nonstop advantage.

What travelers should compare before booking

First, search the whole round trip using the exact Boise or Spokane origin. A nonstop outbound paired with a connecting return is still a valid itinerary, but it is not the same product as nonstop service in both directions and may carry different travel time or baggage handling.

Second, compare the fare after bags and seats. The lowest displayed Alaska fare may be a Saver product with tighter restrictions, while a more flexible fare can be useful when buying several months before a new route begins.

Third, check arrival plans in Honolulu. A midafternoon arrival may work well for an Oahu hotel, but a separate neighbor island flight, rental car pickup or late resort check in introduces another timing decision that the nonstop schedule does not solve.
