Air India is ending its nonstop flights between Delhi and Copenhagen, with the last flight scheduled for Friday, October 23, 2026. The Boeing 787 route was due to run four times a week this winter. After it ends, there will be no Air India flight to Denmark, and travelers between India and Copenhagen will need a connection or the new SAS nonstop from Mumbai.
If you hold an Air India ticket to or from Copenhagen after October 23, expect the airline to contact you with a new routing or a refund. Check your booking on Air India’s website now rather than waiting, especially if you have fixed dates around the winter holidays, and compare the alternatives below before you accept a rebooking.
If your trip to Denmark includes a cruise, our guide to getting from Copenhagen Airport to the cruise port covers the transfer once you land, whichever airline you fly.
- Last flight: Friday, October 23, 2026.
- Route: Delhi to Copenhagen, AI157 and AI158.
- Aircraft: Boeing 787-8.
- Booked after the end date: rerouting or refund.
- Nonstop alternative: SAS from Mumbai, five times a week.
Air India Drops Its Only Denmark Route
AeroRoutes reported on September 24 that Air India has discontinued the Delhi to Copenhagen route, with the last flight scheduled on October 23, 2026. It listed the flights as AI157, leaving Delhi at 1:10 p.m. and arriving in Copenhagen at 6:55 p.m., and AI158, leaving Copenhagen at 8:25 p.m. and landing in Delhi at 10:10 a.m. the next day, on the Boeing 787-8.
AeroRoutes said Air India had planned four weekly departures during the winter 2026 to 2027 season, falling to three a week in March 2027, before the route was dropped. Air India has not given a public reason. The route has been cut back before: Air India said in July 2025 that Delhi to Copenhagen was reduced from five to three flights a week during its schedule changes after the loss of flight AI171.
Travel site Wego also reported the October 23 end date and said affected passengers should expect Air India to contact them with a new routing or a refund.

SAS Mumbai Nonstop and Other Ways to Copenhagen
The main nonstop replacement comes from SAS. SAS said in August it will launch Copenhagen to Mumbai on October 1, 2026, with the first flight from Mumbai on October 3, five times a week on an Airbus A330. SK969 is scheduled to leave Copenhagen at 4:10 p.m. and land in Mumbai at 4:30 a.m., and SK970 leaves Mumbai at 6:30 a.m. and arrives in Copenhagen at 12:15 p.m.
From Delhi, Wego suggested one-stop options on Finnair through Helsinki, LOT through Warsaw and Lufthansa through Munich, as well as Gulf airlines through their hubs. From other Indian cities, connections through the Gulf or a major European hub are the usual choice. Keep both flights on one ticket so a missed connection is the airline’s problem.
How to Handle a Cancelled Air India Booking
If your flight is on or before October 23, it should operate, but confirm the status a day or two before departure. If your booking is later, decide whether you want a refund or a rerouting before you call. A rerouting onto a partner or a connecting itinerary may add several hours, while a refund lets you choose the SAS nonstop or another airline yourself.
For a flight leaving Copenhagen, EU air passenger rules can apply when a flight is cancelled, which may give you the right to a refund or rerouting, and compensation depending on how much notice you receive. Keep every email from Air India, and ask for any refund to go back to your original payment method rather than a credit.
