Air Astana will resume nonstop flights between Astana and Bangkok on December 11, 2026, with two flights a week on an Airbus A321LR, according to TTR Weekly. Bookings are open, and return fares start at USD 553 in economy and USD 2,193 in business class.
The route was last served in January 2019, so it returns after nearly seven years. The flights depart Astana on Tuesdays and Fridays, and travelers planning Asia routings can compare them with our airlines hub for other carriers and cabins.

- Frequency: Twice weekly, departing Astana on Tuesdays and Fridays.
- Aircraft: Airbus A321LR with 168 seats.
- Flight time: About seven hours and 50 minutes.
- Fares: From USD 553 return in economy, USD 2,193 in business.
Tuesday and Friday Departures From Astana
Flight KC8111 departs Astana on Tuesdays at 21:25 and reaches Bangkok Suvarnabhumi at 07:10 the next day, according to TTR Weekly. On Fridays it leaves at 21:05 and lands at 06:55 the next day.
Return flight KC8112 leaves Bangkok at 08:15 on the Tuesday pattern and at 08:05 on the Friday pattern. It arrives in Astana at 14:45 and 14:30, so the two weekly pairs differ by about 20 minutes, and times are local.
Ministry Figures Put the Route in Context
Kazakhstan Today reports that the country’s Ministry of Transport announced the route. With it, flights between Kazakhstan and Thailand rise to 20 a week across four routes.
The agency lists the existing links: seven weekly flights from Almaty to Phuket, and nine weekly between Almaty and Bangkok, six by Air Astana and three by Thai AirAsia X. SCAT adds two weekly flights between Shymkent and Bangkok.
What the New Route Changes for Astana Travelers
Until now, travelers from the capital who wanted Bangkok had to connect or travel to Almaty first. TTR Weekly says the Astana service complements Air Astana’s existing daily flights between Almaty and Bangkok.
Trend.az, citing the same ministry statement, describes the new route as a link between the capitals of the two countries for tourism and business travel. Neither report says whether the schedule will run beyond the winter season.
Reading the Overnight Schedule
Both outbound flights leave Astana in the late evening and land in Bangkok early the next morning. Bangkok is two hours ahead of Astana, so the clock times on your ticket do not match the roughly seven hours and 50 minutes in the air.
An early arrival at 06:55 or 07:10 means hotel rooms may not be ready, so ask about early check-in or luggage storage before you fly. On the way home, the morning departure from Bangkok leaves a full day for checkout and transport to Suvarnabhumi.
Booking and Planning Notes
Tickets are sold on Air Astana’s website and mobile app and through accredited travel agents, per TTR Weekly. The fares quoted are return fares from the opening of sales, and they will vary by date.
Only two flights run each week, so a missed or cancelled departure can mean a wait of several days. Build a buffer into any trip with a fixed start date, such as a cruise or a tour.
The business fare of USD 2,193 is almost four times the USD 553 economy fare, so the gap is worth weighing on a flight that lasts nearly eight hours. Neither report says how many seats Air Astana is selling in each cabin on the 168-seat A321LR.
Prices were published when sales opened and are the lowest listed, not a promise for every date. Compare a few Tuesdays and Fridays before you commit, and check baggage rules on the airline’s booking page.
Langkawi Is the Other Winter Addition
Air Astana also plans seasonal flights from Almaty to Langkawi in Malaysia from December 25, 2026, according to Trend.az. Those run three times a week with an Airbus A321neo.
The Langkawi flights start from Almaty, not Astana, so they matter to a different set of travelers. They do show Air Astana adding Southeast Asian capacity for the winter.
| If you… | What to do |
|---|---|
| Live in or near Astana and want Bangkok in December | Look at KC8111 on Tuesdays or Fridays from December 11, 2026. |
| Prefer an earlier evening departure | Choose the Friday flight, which leaves Astana at 21:05 rather than 21:25. |
| Need a daily option | Consider Almaty to Bangkok, where Air Astana flies daily per TTR Weekly. |
| Want to fly business class | Business fares are listed from USD 2,193 return; the reports do not describe the cabin, so check the seat map. |
December 11, 2026 is the first flight. Book early if you want a specific Tuesday or Friday.
